..'versions' being the operative word - would be nice to see a 310kW XR6T, also.

You never really know with Ford, they may turn around in a month and say we are done! thats why they are so non committal into the future. The answer will only come directly from Ford, and read between the lines if they do comment.

They have already confirmed October 7 will be the final production day. They have ordered all their parts from suppliers. No changing it now. They have solid orders anyway, there would be no need to finish early.

There is also the minimum amount of units required to be build because of government investment.

Drove past Sunbury Ford today and saw a silver XR8 for sale out the front, no number plates so not even a demo.

Picked my ute up Wednesday, I didn't even get out of the showroom before the boys were asking what mods I've got planned for this one...Not to disappoint, simple stuff like tint is done, mudflaps gone, mirror caps colour coded and XR8 bonnet added already. Reverse camera going in on Wednesday.
Not sure about the rest, might chuck in some blocks in the rear to level it up as the height isn't too bad and rides nice. Probably a cat back in the not too far distance, I can't disappoint the dealer!

So after spending 3 hours last night on the end of a buff and random orbital, I'm pretty happy with the results so far.

Thought I'd upload pics, so the car came from Brisbane to Melbourne, left Brisbane on Monday, and arrived Friday evening. Car was in need of a wash as it was dusty and dirty. 21km on clock, need to get it registered ASAP and take her for a nice long drive!
cheers all

Congratulations on your purchase of the manual FGX XR8 , they are an awesome car, absolutely love mine. The Miami engine with that supercharger and 6 speed are a fantastic combination ,along with that sweet sounding exhaust with the bimodal disconnect. Your blue AU XR looks cool too.

I never realised this before mine has 15000 klms on it,
On the Automatic i just found that if i shift it over to performance mode it comes up on the dash PER, then if i dont manually shift it thru the range, it stays in performance mode as Auto and it is just to much fun.... Does any of that make sence |

Mh XH had the Power/Econ switch... Still wonder to this day what difference it made... because put your foot down in either mode, and it seemed to do the same thing!

The EA-EL power mode was so much better in that you could set and forget.

I have read a few vf2 ss redline reviews online. Also videos.. they conclude that its outstanding bang for buck and there is nothing comes close to it.. more than one review says this.
Why do they just completely ignore the fgx xr8? A GT r-spec for commodore redline pricing and dont get a mention as an alternative? I agree the ss is great but there is no other v8 performance car available for that money? |

Starting to see a FG X on a weekly basis. Similar scarcity to when I was dealing with Mitsubishi and we ran a contest on how long before anybody saw the first one on the road.

I havent heard much from john bowe of late? Surely he will pop out with the launch of the sprint edition xr6/xr8s? Maybe he can personally sign a certificate for each buyer?
