There's a Sprint thread, and judging from the posts, plenty of Winter White with a few going Silhouette to disguise the black roof.

An update:
Apparently the FG X & late FG MkII Falcons share the same steering wheel. I noticed the rubber 9 and 3 o'clock section of the steering wheel lose their grip over time, which is exacerbated by summer heat.
It now feels like an ordinary steering wheel.

Still at least it's not as bad as a sticky, melting dashboard that reflects an uncomfortable amount of sunlight.

Otherwise to all those who have ordered XR6 & XR8 sprints, enjoy them please and I'd hate to see them modified or crashed.

Time to let loose on boost!

I was considering Smoke as a troll colour. It blends with the road really well.
Seems like more people around me behave when a clean, white Falcon rocks up.

You know what, the BA XR6T was my halo car. Couldn't get the cash together to get one then, so got a NA xr6 from pickles in 2003... still in the family my baby brother bought it off me. Still that Red topped motor, just had to have one. Took me another 10 yrs.
When I get the space I'll definitely try to get a clean example for memories if nothing else

I would love to keep mine.... Had it for 11 years now... And any speck of a stone chip... I've had fixed... Every time a stone chip has happened I've almost ended up in the fetal position! Haha

Now I know one massive problem I will have with the sprint when it arrives.... I will be worse!!!!!!!!!

Appologies if this is not the best place for this question. Mods please move if you think it appropriate.
I am looking at the standard xr8 and it appears they all have 30 series tires on the rear and 35 on the front which seems a little odd. I guess that if someone puts 35 series replacements on the rear to match the fronts they will throw the speedo reading out a bit? Is it possible for a ford service technician to correct the speedo for such a change, or do they all display enough over the actual speed for you to get away with such a change?

It's not strange, 35 is the profile which means the sidewall is 35%'of the width of the tread, which on the rear is 275mm. Front is 245mm, and the sidewall is 35% of that. So the sidewall on the front is 85.75mm and the rear tyres are 82.5mm. If you change to a 35 profile on the rear, the sidewall height would raise to 96.25mm, which is more than 1cm lopsided instead of around 3mm in OEM spec.

That explains a lot, thank you. Makes the 265 35 series rear on the sprint an interesting choice.

Apparently the 265 Pirelli is wider than the 275 Dunlop.

Yeh the contact patch depends on the angle of the tread as it approaches each sidewall. Some are more angled than others.

More side wall on the rears to soak up the massive torque shock load on the hard launches that these Sprint weapons are capable off.

Cheers Mick

Check out the spec's on the Pirelli tryes via this site;
https://tiresize.com/tires/Pirelli/P-Zero.htm
It shows that the fronts (245/35/ZR19) have a diameter of 25.9 inch and tread width of 8.7 inch.
the rears (265/35/ZR19) @ 26.3 inch diameter and 9.7 inch tread width.
Compare this to the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A as commonly used on Holdens, (275/35/ZR19) with 26.5 mm Dia and an even bigger tread width of 10.2 inch.

Hi DamoAu,

I have the same car on order. Do you have any good photos of an XR8 Sprint in Smoke? I cant find a good one anywhere...

Also, how did you get the photo of your car in build? Do you need to know someone there??? (build #125 here).

Cheers, Pez

Yeah lucky enough to have a mate who works there.... Still not in smoke yet... Bare metal shell is all I have seen so far! :-)

I have build number 6.... Late april or May Delivery... by dealer actually reckons that even if the car is built it won't leave the factory till ford officially release them...

Feel like a little kid before christmas at the moment.. I want my new toy dammit!
