Hiya, gang.... New in town after living in Europe for a while and am loving being warm again!!
Well, before we left Jersey, we were looking at an interweb Australian car sales site, and had largely decided what sort of vehicle we wanted. It had to be a biggish station wagon - 5 members of the family - and one that was capable of gobbling up the distances involved with travelling pretty much anywhere in Australia. oh, and Australian made.... Not having an awful lot of money to throw at a car, and reading up on the contenders, we opted for an AU Falcon and found one, on the site, in Caboolture which was still there when we got here. Test drove it and bought it. It's the Futura model and had 250000 clicks on it but is very tidy and I'm as happy as a dog with 2 dicks. I've had a bit of fun trawling the auction sites looking for the little things like a cargo barrier and the cargo blind, both of which I scored very cheaply indeed; the blind cost $1 to buy and $65 to get from NSW to QLD!! Gee, this country is stupidly BIG!!! Now, after the European cars that we owned in Jersey - Renault Megane Scenic and a Peugeot 207CC - which are just fabulous vehicles, if a little small for 2 adults and 3 kids!, we weren't expecting much from the Falcon in terms of handling and road holding, but I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised at the land yachts road manners!! I have the radio antenna to fix and the funny bit of plastic panelling under the front - valance, scuttle?? - is a bit munted and either needs fixing or replacing and knowing exactly what it is called would help this endeavour an awful lot!! Anyone?? So, there you are... A potted history of my time with a Ford; the first one I've ever owned!! John |

Hi All from over the ditch.
I am Peter based in Auckland and am currently rebuilding/building 2 MK 1 Bubble arched escorts. 1 will be a road car with a 2 litre pinto in it the other will be a long term project (that should be very long term) powered with who knows what at this stage. both cars are being built from bare shells and will take a bit of time to finish yet but if you visit my blog you can follow the build as I go http://mk1escortrebuild.blogspot.com/ I will keep updates on the escort pages in here as well Peter |

HI,my name is steve and i have sat and admired some great fords on this site.Thought i should add my two toys, both supercharged, both great to drive.FG is fantastic all round car to drive,6 speed manual and has had tint and pedders coilovers added since photo taken.Ba has built engine, balanced and blueprinted all herrod bolt ons plus yella terra supercharger with intercooler, wheels have been widened to 9.5 inches on rear, plus many other features.Have to add that the BA has been my daily for past 14 mths(25000 klms) without drama. Which one is quicker? The BA because of its massive torque it makes the Fg feel underpowered(which is not the case).

Hi all, my names Alan, and I am the owner of a recently bought stock 1998 'EL Falcon Futura', the vehicle is straight and goes really well, especially on the highway, in spite of its age. (this is my first Ford '6')
To date I have fitted a tow bar and wiring and it all works well once I found the good oil on how to do it ( what a saga!). Besides this I have done the basics - changed engine oil and filter, air filter and spark plugs (you never know when last this was done). Next will be the transmission service followed by ...... This forum has provided great info on the vehicle do's, don'ts and should's, so there are a few things that need to be checked. Well, great being here. Hi everyone, Have just purchased my brothers 2008 Ford Mondeo. 2.0L Turbo diesel sedan with a few luxuries. Setting it up to tow a small caravan. Brother has gone to Germany and purchased Mondeo Titanium Station Wagon with all the bells & whistles. One year old. Looking forward to hearing from members who use their Mondeo to tow with.

Welcome. It sounds like the sender unit (or wiring to it) is stuffed but ask the question in one of the tech areas as more people will see it there. Quote:

You need to contribute to the forums (via informative posting) prior to being able to sell items through the For Sale section.

Hey all
been a long time ford owner. I have a ford ba xr6 non turbo 03 it does not have the traction control button and it is always spinning wheels in the wet it does have float diff in it but a new lsd unit is going in next week. So i guess my question is can traction control be added to these cars after they have left the factory. would like to get it done as the misses also drives the car and i dont wont to see her crash it from a spin out in the wet. Thanks |
