Just to clarify - the charts shows the efficacy level 2 weeks after the 12 week wait so there is no benefit to waiting longer, the full effect is only available 2 weeks after your second dose.

Well, big day for me today, after riding the wave of uncertainty in my current job due to the risks of lockdowns and associated loss of income that the passenger transport industry suffers as a result, today is my last day in the position.
Monday I start a new full-time gig in an essential service driving a brand spanking new truck and about $25k more a year. Onward and upward. |

Data valid as at 00:00 GMT August 26th 2021.
Note: As not all Australian States report at the same time, the data below is based on the previous full day reporting. 1,097 new cases for Australia and 3 deaths so the CMR is 2.067%. NSW set another record high with 1,034 cases and the total is also a new record high. 68 new cases and no deaths for NZ so CMR is 0.806%. The UK had a higher 37,962 cases yesterday and lower 140 deaths for a CMR of 1.993% - the first time below 2%. A higher 186,595 new cases in the USA yesterday and higher 2,333 deaths sees CMR at 1.661%. Other notable points: Global cases pass 215M, the last 1M in 1 day; North America passes 47M cases; Australia (1,097); Sri Lanka (4,602) - the 9th consecutive day; and Malaysia (24,599) ... recorded new highs; those in blue for the second consecutive day and those in red for a third or more consecutive day. Palestine moves above the 90th percentile for the 10 day period while El Salvador drops below.

It's Day 50 of the NSW 2021 / VIC 2021 outbreak comparison and for the first time NSW case numbers for the 50 days are higher than Victoria although only by 1.9% (16,481 v 16,173) - mostly because the Victorian case numbers in the early stage were higher.
The gap between the two trend lines is now widening as Victoria was already in decline at this stage while NSW continues to rise.. The actual numbers for today (885) drops the 'actual' line below the predictive trend but has little impact on that trend which is still growing at a 10 day average of 1.081 - a little less than yesterday.

The other metric for NSW I always look at, is number of tests in the days preceding case numbers. Testing yesterday in the state was significantly lower than many recent days, you’d think this might reflect in the discovery of “only” local 882 cases.

Yep, thats the way i look at numbers. Its all about detection. Less tests report less cases.

More people in regional NSW are now second class citizens who aren’t allowed to go out in their communities which have had very few or even zero cases. Yet vaccine stealers in Sydney can head out for fun in their community with tens of thousands of cases. |

If you consider your results on a 'per resource' basis, your results are outstanding. And they have proven to be on the money. Not p!ssing in your pocket; just acknowledging the awesome work you put in to this on a daily basis.

Let's look at some other countries that are struggling with case numbers above their 90th percentile in the last 10 days.
Bangladesh (7.4% fully vaccinated) had 2 days over the 90th percentile of 6,886 but the 10DA is better at 5,676 so things are improving. The Philippines (16.7% fully vaccinated) had all 10 days over the 90th percentile of 8,437 (including a new record high) and the 10DA of 14,647 is worsening. Iraq (6.6% fully vaccinated) had 4 days over the 90th percentile of 7,796 (including a new record high) but the 10DA of 7,118 is a bit better. Indonesia (12.2% fully vaccinated) had 1 day over the 90th percentile of 20,510 but the 10DA is better at 17,199 so things are improving. Let's not forget Australia where we have 25.5% fully vaccinated. We've had all 10 days over the 90th percentile (296) and the 10DA of 823 is 2.5x higher and likely to worsen.

In terms of vaccinations, several US states are above 60% fully vaccinated, led by Vermont with 67.5% done and 75.7% with at least one dose.
Globally, Gibraltar leads the way with everyone who can have one already fully vaccinated followed by Malta (81.7%) as the only other country over 80%. Several countries are over 70%, including: Singapore 76.2%, UAE 75.7%, Cayman Islands 75.6%, Iceland 73.7%, Jersey 72.7%, Isle of Man 72.3%, Portugal 72.3%, Uruguay 71.7%, Qatar 71.6%, Seychelles 71.4%, Denmark 70.5% and Chile 70.3%. It should be noted that the real world percentages are higher for all those countries as the figures are based on total population rather than eligible population so it includes children in the calculation of the percentages. As the under 15's make up about 26% of the global population most of those countries over 70% will actually have vaccinated well over 80% of their 15+ populations.

The clowns are still probably working on the theory that once everyone is vaxxed there won't be a need for covid illness health care. When in reality it will be the complete opposite when we fully open up and covid spreads around. They need to prepare for this now, cause the vax only reduces the chance of sickness and death, it doesn't stop it completely. |

No wonder why people are demonstrating and disobeying lockdown rules. I can see some ugly riots happening in the future and so do the governments, look at Vic police introducing pellet guns & rubber bullets next! Now the States & Feds are starting to squabble over the vaccination threshold and border opening timing. |

That's not quite accurate. NSW (for example) has quadrupled the number of available ICU beds and other States have taken similar measures. Staffing them, on the other hand, has been one of those things that they have only thought of now.

Well second week of lockdown complete. Total of 209 cases now which might go well up as people start doing their tests coming out of quarantine. I can't see it being lifted next week.
They are converting the Garran vaccine hub back to a Covid hospital so moving all the bookings to a new AIS hub from next week. Typical I'm on the other side of town but maybe I will be able to reschedule to move to the airport hub |

Just heard that two truck drivers have tested positive in WA, after travelling from Vic through SA.
Be interesting to see how this is handled. E: here's a link https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-08-...n-wa/100412490

You may well be correct but when you get our Victorian premier Dan Andrews stating our hospitals are now under pressure with covid cases in which we are no where near as NSW figures that is alarmimg in my opinion; heaven forbid if we were in the same boat as NSW if we had the same numbers.

The ACT was told to NOT GET TESTED (sorry for yelling, but that's what we were repeatedly told) if you had no signs of sickness or were not a "close contact". People were doing it simply because they thought they were near a hot-spot.
Testing has gone from 8 hour wait times to ~15 mins now. But, I still think there's something in it, given people don't want to get tested on "their weekend" which you could see the numbers always went lower around that time. |

Yep...as long as you are happy to run the gauntlet at 30% or less for the next twelve weeks while waiting for the second dose. It depends on your local circumstances...in Western Sydney that may not be such a good idea.
