I’ll have to get a pic off my dashcam of the ZK I spotted today.

My in-laws had a 2-tone ZK Sportsman in the 90s. My wife’s grandfather bought it new, and it was passed down to them. It was replaced by a VS Statesman in 1999.

Drove past their place today, and parked near their place is a ZK Fairlane. Same colour as the top half of their old sportsman. Rego’d, and complete with original hub caps & all. When I spoke to the mother-in-law tonight, she told me it’s been there for some time, but today it was out on the street, and that’s how I noticed it.

Saw a Daewoo Nubira the other day at work, one of the younger staff even made mention "what the hell is a Daewoo, I've never seen one before"

3 barks, what’s 3 barks? That ad was a cracker. https://youtu.be/yGvZn-A1b60

I had a workmate who bought a new Daewoo Nubira in 2001/2. I went with him to the dealership, and witnessed the most horrible racism from the grub of a sales person. He ended up going 15km away to another dealer to buy it.

He wanted the top line model with the power options, but hated sitting on leather, and fretted that the alloys would get stolen. I think it was a limited edition model from memory. Come to think of it, they were limited, but not for the right reasons….
The dealer hatched a plan too win the sale, and he got $2k knocked off it. Someone buying a base model got his alloys as a trade for steelies and plastic hubcaps. Someone else paid for “optional” leather in their one, and the dealer swapped out the interior trim. I’m sure the dealer made a healthy profit on it.

His one was the 2L which was the DOHC evolution of the Holden Family 2 engine - its roots going back to the Camira….. our workmates used to call it the Daewoo Camira for that reason. It was quite zippy with the 5 speed beside it.

Haven't seen one of these for a while, outside of a workshop in Seaford SA.

Pretty sad, but still a blast from the past.

Who the hell would have stolen alloys off a Daewoo?

Supermarket car park: Fairmont, silver, black louvre on back window, tow bar, older woman driver; reg. check on Vicroads tells me that it is currently registered, it's a 1997 Ford, 07/97 compliance, [must be an EL (?)].

He grew up in Moree. He was the only one out of 5 boys to finish year 10. He moved to Sydney to take up an apprenticeship, and earned his trade in welding pressure vessels. When he got bored with that, he went back to TAFE, and then became a top notch fitter/machinist. Taught me heaps of old school tricks on the CNCs. His work ethic was rock solid, unlike his 4 brothers who are long term welfare recipients.

His own mother would land unannounced on his doorstep, pretend she was missing him, then fleece the place when he went to work the next day.

The Daewoo replaced a VC commodore that was stolen and recovered 3 times. I offered to fit an immobiliser, but he was worried the thief would wreck the car if they couldn’t get it started. He figured because he lived near a railway station, someone wanted a ride home but didn’t have the taxi fare. All 3 times it was found on the same street, within a distance of a few houses, in a low socioeconomic suburb.

You can see why he was paranoid.

Nice red WB Deville parked outside the bakery while eating a delicious crispy sausage roll.
Both perfection.

I drove thru the old area yesterday.

My favourite pub is right there.
The sports bar is called the Chrysler Bar. Inside on the wall is a side cut of a Charger and a front cut of a CL/CM.
Unfortunately it is on borrowed time, soon to be demolished for roadworks

So the WB ate the sausage roll? I'd pay to see that.

Saw another 120Y yesterday.
Looked tiny amongst everything else. The roofline was under the rear window and Toyota badge of the Landcruiser in front of it

This morning a white Nissan Bluebird TRX with the Group C style flair kit. Looked spotless and obviously well looked after.

Thanks for that one, brightened my day. I suspect the less you spend on a clip, the more fun you have, and the more iconic it will become

Lots of old school cars about today...some organised run by the looks.
Saw too many to mention but a VN Commo cop car stood out at the lights. Still ugly to these eyes, always disliked the rear wheel arches

A mate of mine chopped the rear arches out to match the front on his old VN, bold move but it worked well

XH Tradesman ute, white, 8 spoke steel rims, young bloke driver, clean and straight but front left blinker area was crunched right on the corner; it had those horrible chrome tie-down bars on the sides.

Big variety, Buicks, Mustangs, Silvias, was a good day for spottos

Only 5 minutes earlier there was at least a dozen Lambo/Ferrari/Maserati's taking up both lanes of South Tce.
