Funny you mention the RX8. I know someone who knows someone who knows someone thats seen Orion. Their first impressions was that it looked just like the RX8. Especially the the fat guards.

Neighbours parents come down from Surfers in an AU Forte that looks real nice.
Bought new with 17s like the Jag18s or old BMs, Sports Suspension and rear spoiler & Tint. Even the waterfall grill looks nice. Looks sorta like a new Merc CLS55.

Every old Fairmont still looks nice, any model. Gotta keep the beancounters out of the design office.

Looks sorta like a new Merc CLS55.

Isn't it the other way around?

But it works, so are they really the dumb ones or is it the other manufacturer that spends more than its fair share on developing its own unique 'competitive' motors that seem to fall short every time?

I feel sorry for Ford who have to spend too much money on their engines to stay in the race with Holden who can great motors handed to them pre-built ready to drop in. There might not be any honour in it, but building cars isn't about that now is it. That means more money to spend on, magnaride shocks, great looks, better ways of manufacturing, refining performance, adding features, making different models more segregated from their donour sibling.

Who's the smarter manufacturer... (or the luckier manufacturer!)

Sorry if the modeo concept has already been brought up, but damn it has all the elements mentioned that are suspected to be on the orion, I wonder how close they are going to look. just bigger, a sedan, and minor changes like a trademark budget interior wouldnt supprise me a whole lot at this point. I want an Australian designed car so I hope they are not too similar but it would look ok still if they did this, but personally id be disappointed.

It may have already been brought up, but will the 2008 V8 Supercar series feature the new Falcon? Or will they still run around in BAs for another 6months to a year?

Surely Ford can't use the name Orion... Wouldn't Toyota sue having the Aurion??
