I saw one of those VE utes with the factory Pontiac nose in traffic yesterday, it had the Pontiac badge on the front and a Chev bowtie badge on the back - talk about suffering from an identity crisis!

i guess if an owner of a six adds something that won't fit under the original bonnet, then a bulge is ok then |

But the FG Miami doesn't need the buldge, its fits under the bonnet easily, its solely there to identify it as a V8.
And yes, the original buldge was needed to clear the inlet manifold. But the designers used that to make a statement. |

Bulges look tuff, flat bonnets are boring like camerys.

I got asked by the lady working the boom on a carpark if the bulge was for the stereo.

Totally agree, people put the bonnet on their car simply because it looks better then a standard one.

Well that is interesting. A bit or research on here will find a number of posts lambasting triton owners for fitting bulges as try hard ricers. I would prefer a GT-E without the bulge. The less the car looks like a boy racer hoon mobile the less likely to be noticed by all the wrong people. |

The GT-E is the least noticeable of the FPV range.
You could just put all the XT parts (bumpers, bonnet etc) on the outside and create the ultimate sleeper.

For some this is a bad thing but for me it is a good thing. I prefer that when I overtake any of the do-gooders they report a "grey or silver large car like a commodore or toyota" rather than a "black car, I think it was a falcon, with red stripes and wheels and the number 335 and the letters GT on big stickers". Yeah, but you would want a bit of luxury on the inside wouldn't you (I would!).
I like your thinking.

Of course not every one is going to agree on this or anything else for that matter. If they did, then we wouldn't have cool threads like this - feel free to disagree with that

Just for those who say/think the SS was never exported as a Chev.
Jump on the Chevrolet South Africa and have a look. http://www.chevrolet.co.za/vehicles/view_all_vehicles/cars/lumina_ute/index.html They use to send them to the Middle East as well but I think that finished after the GFC. |

Ford ran a bonnet buldge in the Cortina's on 6 cylinders there was no V8 option so what that means is all these moden day V8 Bonnet Buldges are just also rans every thing old is new again

I would have to say, I wouldn't badge my car. It is all going to stay original. I wouldn't take badges off or put any on. One day, if all the badges are still there, the vehicle will be worth more then if they are gone or changed. I say keep them as original as they are. Because there absolutely ain't nothing wrong with a stock FORD!

As well as many BA-BF V8s did not have a bonnet bulge. I seem to remember that bulge in BA-BF actually means "oops our first boss design does not work well and now we have fixed it, it does not fit in the engine bay anymore". |

Got to ask what badge I put on my Holden...I currently have a 186 block with a 221 crank fitted.
If I put a 186 badge on, I'll be shot down (because it ain't a 186)....If I put 3.6 badge on I'll be shot down (Ford badge on a Holden)....I won't put stroker on it, for fear of it being misconstrued.. I want a badge acknowledging the motor so what do I do?

I also believe the V6 Cortina from South Africa had the same bonnet buldge....But don't quote me there. So a little relevance to the bonnet buldge topic

3 reasons why people do certain things to their cars
1. its their money 2. its their tastes, and do whatever they care 3. its different go the Bonnet Bulge on V6's! being a bit biased though..
