https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...-6602065/?Cr=0 DC2 is much harder to find as well Same with S15 Silvia/200SX for the factory turbo models - they're still fetching $25K-$30K like they were around the same time. |

I think the DC2 has more of a cult following hence maybe a safer buy (similar to R32 v R33 GTR). I’m tempted to go and check this out but I had set aside funds to build a deck. Looks to be a good price and condition. Too many mongs have owned them and trashed them. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/c...ing/2620433871 |

DC2 is also picking up popularity in USA as a cult car so once it goes 25 years old it'll shoot through the roof in value no doubt like all the old GTRs |

Boomers vs US - you can see the Playstation Gen has bumped up the Japanese prices. That and the US import regs are pushing prices up. I quite like the EVO V and VI, seems to be the sweet spot at the moment. Good luck finding a TME <$40k though. Trying to find an example that hasnt been modded to much is the challenge. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...-6630992/?Cr=4 https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...-6351564/?Cr=7 And for something different... https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...-6532309/?Cr=2 S2000 goes alright too. I like old and new school, so happy to have a fairlane and will probably pick something up from the 90's/00's soon too. Enough tech to be useful but not overloaded.

One of these if I could find one. A real sleeper, and underappreciated! Or one of these.....

Probably a URJ202 Landcruiser with the nice simple petrol V8 so as to save the mechanics spending 11 hours booked time to change the starter motor as on the diesel. Also would dodge the injector costs etc. 40K might get a nice one now.
Would name it after one of the biggest Japanese battleships, perhaps 'Musashi'. Can drive up the mountain, can drive on the beach, priceless

Im biased.
Love a barra. Plenty on the list but i keep coming back to one. Offer 40k cash money. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...6626203/?Cr=16 Or i could go back to a Focus. MK3 RS becoming a bargain, long as no bunged head gasket https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...8634738/?Cr=18

Agree DJM, one of the last F6's or XR6 Sprint would be about the most desirable, dunno if the Sprints are in the 40K range currently, haven't checked.
I've been lucky in the past timing car purchases, it seems the stuff I liked was afterward liked by a lot of people... These days though, all things considered, if I wanted to make money maybe take the risk at buying $40K worth of unopened original iPhones, lol

An LV XR5 Turbo and an LWII Focus ST, both very capable cars Focus even in standard forms has some handling creds, honestly most smol fords do. The MK3 RS really went next level. And now most certainly the last of the RS brand, they may gain some value later on.

I did notice the difference. Dollar for dollar the 55 can make more power and torque than the 63 for sure. The reason I didn’t go for 55 was age and the dreaded electronic brakes on the pre 06 models. I was avoiding an expensive repair that sounded inevitable. However the bills work out same either way..

Certainly do. Of course there can problems with any vehicle, even they highly maintained. You take the good with the bad. So far I’ve had transmission computer crap itself, front air strut replaced, and hole in throttle body plate as major repairs. Fortunately I’m not afraid to do some myself to save on cost.

MCM has this cool little nugget - Nissan March Super Turbo
It's a small FWD econobox that was homologated, 930cc engine, supercharger and turbo running 1 BAR boost from factory, weighs 750kg. Seemed to run a 0-100 time of high 7s - that's not bad for a 30 year old car. https://www.carthrottle.com/post/tha...charged-micra/ Add one to my mighty ****box fleet. I saw another old eccentric 80s car on the way into work yesterday - Ford Telstar TX5 Turbo. While its a bit unsightly I quite like the Buick Grand National - its an old man car with a factory turbo Buick 3.8L V6. 13.5 1/4 passes in the 1980s from the factory floor. Brace for cool retro 1980s style electronic music and ridiculous transitions. Last edited by Franco Cozzo; 16-05-2020 at 08:10 PM. |

That thing's a beast Franco. Pretty amazing performance for the time, engine would be a bolt in swap into the Lebonator too

Given the price of L67 Statto's I'd just buy one of those to be honest https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...-6549573/?Cr=2 Add a VS Caprice Super Six to my ****box fleet Tell you what for a LWB car they don't weigh much, mine has an all cast iron V8 over the front of it and the car only weighs 1550kg and its nearly 5M long. Probably the reason they fold like pancakes if you stack them Since we've got a $40,000 budget I'll have this as the daily driver: Put 13 CABS sticker on the side, call myself Sanjeev Cozzodeep and do some cheeky airport runs in my ****box rolled in glitter Seriously though, sub $30K, 304KW LS3. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...G-AD-18674781/ Last edited by Franco Cozzo; 16-05-2020 at 10:16 PM. |

Sounds good, yep they were pretty lightweight at the time, always thought the Ford ED felt far more solid than Dad's first VR (I later learned ED got foam sprayed in A pillars and around some cabin areas, it worked)
L67 Calais, future classic Still reckon the container of unopened original iPhones is a serious contender for this thread

Haha on the taxi, I reckon one of the Commodore ex-Police Paddy wagons would be better, can socially distance passengers in the back without fear of infection
