I think the DC2 has more of a cult following hence maybe a safer buy (similar to R32 v R33 GTR).
I’m tempted to go and check this out but I had set aside funds to build a deck.
Looks to be a good price and condition. Too many mongs have owned them and trashed them.

There's a few high km ****boxes around low teens but for a decent example they're still fetching 20s.

DC2 is also picking up popularity in USA as a cult car so once it goes 25 years old it'll shoot through the roof in value no doubt like all the old GTRs

Most of those cars will come to market. Do the younger generations have 6 figures to drop on Bathurst specials and replicas. Few will. Most wont. We’ll likely see a decrease in sale prices for these and this will trickle down to the lesser models, Fairmonts/Premiers Falcon 500/Kingswood etc. while having them compete in price and choice with the more modern stuff as a weekend/holiday car.

That’s also before taking into consideration the rising cost of living. Looming green initiated regulations that will make owning vehicles harder and more expensive.
Also unlike boomers and their parents, a lot of millennial men have no interest in motoring and would struggle to change a tyre or light bulb.
Immigrants and children of immigrants don’t identify with Holden or Ford and see no significance in the models, as traditional Aussies are being replaced due to negative birth rates.

Boomers vs US - you can see the Playstation Gen has bumped up the Japanese prices. That and the US import regs are pushing prices up.

I quite like the EVO V and VI, seems to be the sweet spot at the moment. Good luck finding a TME <$40k though.

Very basic too, you've just got a stereo, some heater/fan/AC controls, manual box and a mode selector to change some electronics relating to the driveline.

I think wicked looking is a stretch!

I actually drove one very similar to that (model down but black and still v8) - loved it and sort of wished I hadn't!

I can't justify running to cars anymore financially, so had to say no despite really liking the sleek look and quality feel.

Probably a URJ202 Landcruiser with the nice simple petrol V8 so as to save the mechanics spending 11 hours booked time to change the starter motor as on the diesel. Also would dodge the injector costs etc. 40K might get a nice one now.

Id consider a focus rs. Not my typical style, but a buzz box thats quick and nimble could be a bit of fun. Never really driven a manual thats not a slow underpowered comercial vehicle. Apart from an underpowered import toyota sprinter with a dog box, that was slow, but fun not clutching it apart from off the line, and 8500rpm rip shifts, it made a deplorably slow fun car. But that was a $900 car. Im guessing a focus rs would be more fun with some handling and power.

Agree DJM, one of the last F6's or XR6 Sprint would be about the most desirable, dunno if the Sprints are in the 40K range currently, haven't checked.

I've been lucky in the past timing car purchases, it seems the stuff I liked was afterward liked by a lot of people... These days though, all things considered, if I wanted to make money maybe take the risk at buying $40K worth of unopened original iPhones, lol

Ive owned 2 prior Focii
An LV XR5 Turbo and an LWII Focus ST, both very capable cars

Focus even in standard forms has some handling creds, honestly most smol fords do.
The MK3 RS really went next level. And now most certainly the last of the RS brand, they may gain some value later on.

I did notice the difference. Dollar for dollar the 55 can make more power and torque than the 63 for sure. The reason I didn’t go for 55 was age and the dreaded electronic brakes on the pre 06 models. I was avoiding an expensive repair that sounded inevitable. However the bills work out same either way..

Certainly do. Of course there can problems with any vehicle, even they highly maintained. You take the good with the bad. So far I’ve had transmission computer crap itself, front air strut replaced, and hole in throttle body plate as major repairs. Fortunately I’m not afraid to do some myself to save on cost.

The only thing I dont like about the FGX Sprint 6 is the auto only, seriously could have done with the option.

Yeah yeah the auto may be quicker but I tell you whats worth more second hand, it aint the auto. FGX Sprint 8 got the option so not sure what gives.

Id sooner have a FG F6 manual.

It's a small FWD econobox that was homologated, 930cc engine, supercharger and turbo running 1 BAR boost from factory, weighs 750kg.

Seemed to run a 0-100 time of high 7s - that's not bad for a 30 year old car.

Sounds good, yep they were pretty lightweight at the time, always thought the Ford ED felt far more solid than Dad's first VR (I later learned ED got foam sprayed in A pillars and around some cabin areas, it worked)
