Haven't seen this thread before, thanks for bringing it back to life penrith panther, most interesting. We bought our Territory at Power Ford in 2004 and the sales experience there was excellent. Service on the other hand ..... forget it. And if anyone does go there don't accept the complimentary lift to Castle Hill 5 mins away, take the bus. I was so stupid and the driver had a mate who wanted to go to Schofields. Just 5 mins deviation said the driver. One and a quarter hours later and almost via Windsor finally got to Castle Hill. Great for customer relations!
Oh and stay away from Hills Ford Hornsby too. Marvellous situation in NW Sydney and own a Ford!

like you said - lesson learned. I wouldn't have gone back to them after your test drive experience.
get it serviced elsewhere. |

I went to Power Ford when I was shopping for my Fiesta, they were alright. I thought the salesman was helpful n stuff.... but Cumberland Ford (Blacktown) were just a bit more professional and gave me better deal on the car.
I must say I'm impressed with the Parts department of Power Ford. Very helpful, courteous, good deals. |

I have 1 rule, NEVER pay for bad customer service.
I was trying to buy a second hand ford from the boys at Bankstown Ford. I walked around the yard, spotted the car i was interested in and sure enough the sales person went to fetch the keys as i wanted to hear it running. I sat in the car, started it up and walked around it a few more times. by this time 20 minutes had passed and while sitting in the car leaned out the window to the sales person and asked if i could take it for a test drive. His response "This car has a lower than normal selling price so its strictly an inspect and buy proposition, no test drives allowed" I asked him if he was kidding, he replied no... I got out of the car, left the door / bonnet / boot open (due to my inspection) and with the engine still running calmly walked across the car yard to the street where my car was parked, hopped in and drove off.... didnt even bother to turn around. What a fool, i had the cash in the car ready to buy........ What do you think i tell people when they ask about buying a ford from a certain dealership???? |

It was an old car however the principle still applies, my 67 XR needed some work done on the steering, dropped into the local service station/Mechanic who had done work for me before. talked about the work needed and arranged a time to pick it up.
Pick up time arrives and see the car up on the hoist with the diff assembly stripped out WTF?. The mechanic said that he could see oil around the breather hose and on closer inspection identified a leaking seal, the result of which was oil in the brake drum, pads, inner side of wheel and all over the tyre. Peter said he could not honestly let the car go in that condition. fair enough. Pick the car up the next morning and presented the bill. Everything seemed to add up however the bilable hours of 1.5. Now i know this was wrong and pointed it out to Peter. Peter says "Look the young apprentice was drooling all over it and was sick of working on s&*t box korean garbage, so experience for him and some relief on your pocket" This bloke has been around, knows his stuff however, supports young guys in the trade and does not put $ ahead of appreciative and repeat customers. |

realy bad example of dealers. take it else where and dont give them your money again.
how ever, the dealer here in Mildura is fairly good, never any troubles except when they ordered the wrong engine replacment for the AU, no big deal though, they gave us a brand new BA for a replacment. once they installed the new engine (other engine had a factory fault) they gave the car a clean and shinned up the tires real nice. |

My , how things have changed ?
In 1972 as a 19 y/o , I went to Thompson Ford Parramatta on a day off from work & wanted to look at an XLE Cortina . Salesman said "Sorry , we don't have one in stock , but we have an XL of similar spec's I can show you and let you drive , then if you've got time this afternoon we will have an XLE here from another dealer that you can inspect " . I accepted the offer & come back later that afternoon , Yes , the car was there . I sat down with the salesman & sorted out what I wanted & did the paperwork & trade in (which I was happy with ) paid a deposit & waited for the car to arrive from the Factory . A few weeks later I recieved a phone call " Hi , just to let you know your car has arrived & should be detailed & ready to pick up in a couple of days " . Sure enough , 2 days later got a call " Your cars ready , when would be a suitable time for you to pick it up "....... As for warranty issues , NEVER a problem , every one fix in the time quoted , one I was having trouble with was the front end (well known in the Cortina's) was replaced with no questions asked . I wonder why I went back there for my 2nd Cortina ( 1st one written off) got my sister to buy her Escort there , & my dad to buy his XB Futura there ,it's the one I still have (Thompson Ford sticker still on the back window). In 1980 , I needed a Wagon for work ,quickly , so I rang around & found there was only 4 in the state the model I wanted at the time , Peter Warren had 2 . I wanted an XD S-Pack 4sp . I had rung P.W. at Fairfield & the salesman said to come there , Ok , got there but the cars were at Warwick Farm . Salesman says " Have you driven one yet ? " No I haven't , Ok you drive to the other yard with me & get the feel with this one (standard wagon) Arrived at Warwick Farm & there on display was a Yellow XD S-Pack , "Peter Warren Special Vehicle" (Tow pack , Tinted Glass , Special Paint etc. ). They removed the car from the dais (always wanted THE main car on display : ) took it for a drive , Deal Done . Warranty & Service couldn't be questioned , perfect every time ....... What has ever happened to "Looking After the Customer ? ? ? ? ? ? " Pic of the car just before I sold it in 1986 to buy a house (very sad day). Wife's Escort in background , bought from Peter Warren s/hand . Good service always gets repeat business .

your joking. i went to peter warren for a warranty claim on my rear tailshaft (clunking) and rattling exhaust. they didnt fix the clunk, didnt fix my exhaust rattle and overtightened my handbrake to the extent that when i got home there was smoke coming from the rear brakes. had to get peter warren to send a flatbed tow truck to my house the next morning to pick the car up, apon re-inspection they realised what they did, said the diff will get fixed and the exhaust and they will now fix this too. To their credit they did (on the second go) fix the diff & exhaust and they said the handbrake was now fixed. I said to them "do not let the monkey who 'fixed' my car yesterday touch my car again" and they replied "we have our most senior mechanic working on your car today". So what happened, after i got my car back i had a mate (who used to be the service manager at winford) look at it. Verdict: handbrake overtightened, still rubbing (just not as bad) and the brake disks had been put on wrong which meant the adjustment hole to adjust the brakes didnt line up, so you couldn't adjust the brakes unless you took the disk off first (which is ******* hard when the handbrake mechanism is locked to the brake disk). brilliant work. never been there since.
