The front lights looks Toyota-inspired to me.

The rear is ok. But not great.

The body itself looks very good though. It looks better on the Statesman range than the Commodore range I reckon.

I still reckon the 2000'ish Fairlanes looked the best (The AU ones). The BA Fairlanes looked ****house at the back. Looked plain.

I love it. Looks much sportier than previous models. Got good lines for a LWB. Previous versions were typically old fartish. (Is that even a word) This is very nice.

From the rear, it looks similar to that SSV concept hatch they had at the motor show many moons ago.

Still undecided.

I think the Statesman of late has lost is good looks a bit- I still think that the WH Statesman is BOSS. In the new photos statesmans looks a bit like a butched up Commodore with a nose which is too short for its size; not a low long sleek Luxury car that it should be.

Cant say its a small car though 5.2m, so it got the length; it may look better in real life than it does online.

I think it looks alright, nothing to be excited by, but not a bad LWB cruiser for sure. I suspect Holden will continue to own this market.

Front end looks okay, interior looks very good, but the rear end make it look like a coupe to me.

Not a fan, Prefered the WB models.

I dont think they do, there is not much difference in ratings comparing the 2 sets of engines, I think Ford need to work out how to get more off idle torque out of the Boss engines more than anything. Power delivery comes on very hard very late, I think if they fixed that you would see some very different times.

The problem I see however is that they will not be able to go much more before some agency starts to get upset saying that manufacturers are producing street legal race cars, GTHO Phase IV anyone? I think thats probabally why you dont see anything realy over 300kw, yeh the new one is rated @ 307kw but they measure in DIN now, so effectivley its the same as the 297 approximately, therefore if anyone questioned it that would be their scape goat.

I know what your saying and the BOSS enging has heaps of pontential and you can easly get the power coming on early and strong.. I know for a fact myself..... BUT, the problem lays with the EPA laws, Hence why Holden when for the bigger engine, so they can get more HP out of it without breaching the new EPA laws and there would also be a lot left in it for future evolution of the VE... I am sure the BOSS will match and better it but unlikely it will happern in the BF version.... Again I hope I am wrong.....

Default BFII XR8 v's VE SS

Are the ford dudes for real. The BF II release I saw had zero updates to the spec sheets for the standard XR's. You would have to spend $60K on an XR8 optioned up to get anywhere near the spec level of the VE SSV. The standard SS ($45K) has a similar spec level as the XR8 ($52K). BTW you must still option side airbags (GMH have had them standard for how long?) Who are they kidding. Ford needs to get off its high horse and make this stuff standard so you don't have to wait a month to get side airbags. No wonder when the BA- BF was a heaps better car than VXII-VZ and was still getting wasted in the sales race.
I have always been a Ford fan, so FORD don't dissapoint me any more. The general is offering soooo much more than you for a much lesser price all you have to do is put a little of those creamy options standard to even up the score. $3600 for sat nav + $900 colour screen (no touch screen), GMH $1290, DVD player $3600, GMH $1290 (touch screen). Ford = $8100; GMH =$2580 WTF???? And the list gos on. Dreamin'

The chrome does look a bit koreanish now its been mentioned. I actually perfer the BFII Ghia chrome which should look good compared to that.

I think there is a great car lurking under there. nice basic layout. Big interior and rear doors are the killer.

Waiting for the HSV Grange. Im sure with bigger wheels, a tough HSV body kit and MRC you'd have one sweet ride.

So I guess this is the end of the Fairlane and LTD?

When you think about it the orion won't be twice as good as the BA-BF, The orion will carry over blade control IRS, Pick up territory front steering, Carry over engine maybe upgrades. The newsiest and best thing for the orion will be body and interior upgrades. Basically it will ride slightly better then before with a modern new body chassis. Suspension will be pretty familiar. The gap won't be far apart as it was before in 2002.

Speaking of petrol I'm waiting for this big jump in prices as emails etc have been saying, I haven't spent over $1.29 in 4 weeks.

I agree. Ford aren't going to change absolutely everything in the car.

No matter what car you get, the first runs will often have problems. It's a case of refinement in the second series.

The Orion will look a hell of a lot more modern, but they'll keep most of the stuff as it works. But the new body will make or break Ford.

But I don't think the BF is all that bad. The fact that a 4 year old car compares to "The car of 2006" says a lot for the Falcon. The BFII will further compete, but the Falcon has trailed the Commodore in sales (per annum) for almost a decade so Falcon, as long as they have a fair market share won't really care.

But if Ford work on removing weight and make it lighter than the BA/BF models. Increase the efficiency of the motor better auto for the base model they might be able to play the fuel efficency card as this is a big factor at the moment.

It's body will be tight strong and have more flexibility then ever before, That in itself will bring on better handling and noise reduction. Then maybe a wider track and maybe longer wheelbase and it will sit and ride better but maybe be a touch shorter.
Also LHD for exports is the big thing.

I'm not sure how much weight they could drop from it, Maybe get some lighter parts in the IRS it's said to be pretty heavy, Try cut some weight in the Boss and maybe the barra. The BA was a stiffer body then the AU so there was extra weight there also. Wonder is it possible to cut some of the overhangs off?.
