Its a shame that everyday cars needing a system interfer with the work going on with our fun cars, but thats the way they make a living I supose, not spending endless hours doing a custom system like ours.

Update : Barney complete the 2nd pipe on the driverside today. Didn't get a pic late in the day. Only took pics first thing in the morn. They're looking like they'll be done by the end of next week. We ran into a small issue though. There isn't much material between the port and top bolts. There's enough to seal but longevity may not be all that much. It looks like I'll be HPC coating after all which means another 5 working days. That'd make it around or just before the 25th Aug.

Drivers (theres actually two complete pipes there now. As of this afternoon)

Looking good Brenx.
I thought you were running adaptor plates on this set up? If so there should be plenty of room for the bolts. Thats whet we did on mine and you could run well over 2" primaries if you wanted to.
HPC coating will be good but like you said another 5 days and most likely $400.

Nope I got custom flanges made as the ports are nothing like 2V or 4V heads.

Rego already run out on the 13th Aug. It's been pretty much 2 weeks and I'm still waiting for Barney to complete 1 pipe and 2 collectors. Barney was doing the last pipe this morning when I dropped in. Hopefully it gets completed and then it's onto the collectors. At this stage it's not looking good for the drag day. I'll go in on Sat again, maybe Fri. If it's still not close? I'll have to cancel the tune check up too. I'm at the point where it's giving me the ****s going in and finding nothing done. I'm supposed to get the car back on the 25th Aug (tomorrow) but I serious doubt theres any chance of that! :(

[edit]I've already cancelled the HPC coating due to their being not enough time left to finish the car.

Oh My God - Barny hasnt finished yet..................lol

Good to see he has not changed.......

And I can not really see what is so great about his work on your car?

What is it that he does that is so great?

I will really feel sorry for you if after all this time and money you are spending on thse pipes if you end up getting less horse's...........but time will tell.......

I won't go less horses. We already know that. The design is far better than pacemakers 4-1 1 7/8" pipe design. What Barney does thats so great is he is a perfectionist. His welds are always tidy and don't interfere with flow. His downfall? Damn he's slow which he really isn't. He's distracted by doing sports exhausts on the rif raf that walks in the door (quick money). I've got no doubt they'd be done if he didn't have to do systems. Prob is Barney is not the boss. Barney can't spend 100% of his time on 1 project :(

[edit]most of what you see weld wise is just tacks ;) The finished product looks so much nicer. I will get pics if I cbf'd. Might go in tomorrow and push a little. :

I had Bretts pipes in my hands last Friday night. Barney's pipes are of equal quality.

Maybe equal quality mate but at the moment you dont have a set finished.
I know you know Barney and use them alot for your car but sounds like the using that to their advantage and taking you for a ride, maybe you should have gone elsewhere.

You were fortunate enough to not have a running engine. I'm not confident leaving my 600hp XB in the hands of people I don't know.

Yes and no, I left my car sitting there which is worth alot more than an engine is. You can always disable the motor or electrics in your car as I see no reason why it should need to be driven or started, and when time comes to start it you can go and do it.

Car itself to me isn't issue but knowing the engine isn't damaged on returning the car to me is a big issue. I can disable the car but it's more screwing around than I should have to do. Easier to drop it off to someone who is trustworthy in the 1st place.

I don't have time to be there at a whim when it needs starting. As you know I work night shift. I'm normally asleep during the day.

Yes but everyone is a stranger at some time, and at times you have to take a chance. Or else you wont know what is out there.

True. I prefer to meet new places via people I know personally. This way I can establish some feel for the of type character/person is touching my car. I've been to workshops that I've had to go out on a limb for. I've also busted them. One experience vividly in my mind was a dyno op. The engine was pinging it's nut off and he though the tune was great. He was an f'n idiot! What damage he did to my engine that day? I have to put up with. I'm sure he reduced it's lifespan. I went else where (Hallam Performance) and extra 50rwkw later and no detonation. Much better IMO. Perfection takes time. Unfortunately Barney doesn't get to spend every minute of his day building my pipes.

Barneys problems are that everybody body wants to talk to Barney which ties up a lot of his time and as mentioned he is not the Boss, he does such a great job thet he keeps getting taken off big projects to do smaller jobs because the customer has asked the boss for him to do their systems.

Barney has a great name in hotrodding and streetmachine circles because of the quality of work that he does.

You would think he would finish one job at a time, and with the length of time its been now you think he would pull his finger out of his arrse.

I was talking to barney today about Brenx's pipes, he said they are all exact length, an off the shelf set of so called "tuned length" pipes can be anywhere from 3" to 4" different in length, they will produce good gains.
He has rear systems only to do in between (bread and butter jobs) hence the time frame.

Yes tuned length should mean tuned length but off the shelf most people would never check.
Just hope he gets them back before drag day. If not atleast it might be there ready for the next dyno day!

You mean sitting in the back corner gathering dust on the dyno day ;) Hopefully tomorrow's quiet. If it is? They'll get done. I can see it all being finished by start of next week but you never know. That suits me as I have Mon/Tues off work. Hopefully it doesn't get completed when I can't get down there as I want to be there for the dyno. Just incase decisions need making.

a mates had 2 engines built by hallam performance (a real quick clevo in a cusso and a windsor in his wifes 65 stang convertible) and exhausts on both cars. i've driven the cusso twice and its awsome. i've also got a very reasonable quote on a system for my xr from G&D.

Good to see that they are all finished finally! Just a shame you had to wait so long for them.
Will you make it for next weeks drags or not?
