Personally I dont like the catch phrase of 'have you driven a Ford lately'. To me it sounds a little desperate. A bit like Mitsubishi's old 'Please consider'. However I agree on the 'Cant get enough of this' and 'Eats sports cars for breakfast'. They were great.

I agree when it comes to selling to blokes, but chicks eat it up. Have a look at the new Cruze ad, it doesn't mention anything specific about the car at all. It's about selling a lifestyle.

My apologies in advance to any chicks who find the above comment offensive.

Whilst that may be true, it's about how people will feel whilst driving their Territory that matters, hence the strategy with the ad.

We all know how deficient many Holden models are and just how much superior the Ford product is, however the average person just eats up the Holden feel good warm and fuzzy true blue Aussie marketing.

More ad's like this!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlAEb...eature=related

and this!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kd2mMa0KqE

or this...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9ubtehD9Pk

But toyota does make a good ad! Out of the way sheep shaggers!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXGAVuQ1BcY

Probably my two favourite ads, but they can't be found anywhere! on the net..

The one where they go past that rocket car and say "must be stuck in third"

and the replacement one from above where they change the girls to dogs and the line at the end was "nah mate, their dogs"

New mondeo ad now up. This ones kinda quirky.....some might not like it but i reckon you won't forget it easilly. Which reminds me, what is the law on carrying a dog in you car...does it have to be restrained??

Watch the ad you'll understand the question...

That's a good advert. A single message, aimed at the country's biggest consumer group, females.

Thumbs up from me...

It's a pity the Mondeo doesn't pull off the good looks when it's out in the open under normal conditions compared to the way it looks in this ad.

Mondeo has never hit the mark with me when it comes to exterior styling.

Hope it picks up in any case.

Really....i love it. The rear is always the contentious bit...its a bit out there but otherwise its great. The kinetic styling ford has got going is very impressive for me because it can be tailored to a range of looks/segments depending on what you want. A fiesta is very chic, very edgy. A falcon is much more restrained, but you still see the connection. Mondeo sits in the middle a bit, in many ways i like it more than Falcon because it is more pronounced, but there are times i think maybe it is a bit of a 'try hard'. The Ford SUV from europe (kuga) shows you can even put kinetic on a SUV...as does territory but i assume you would be aware what the next gen one looks like already as an even better example....

Also it makes a difference when the car is moving. I know it sounds strange but the mondeo always looks nicer to me when its on the move...see one in a car park and its a bit overblown with all the creases etc. But show me a recently released car that doesn't suffer from this heavy handed surfacing and i'll give you a 50.

I think the new Territory ad is great, the one where the little kid covers up his parents car with coloured in paper to look like the next door neighbours territory

Don't remember the last time when we said Ford had good adverts!

Supply may be constrained for Fiesta, but still think we should see that ad a bit more than we do. Although i realise marketing budget is not unlimited.

Good to see Ford telling people the facts. Otherwise people start making assumptions in their head. Its small, 4 cylinder and a Toyota therefore its the best choice even if I have to sacrifice space, speed and comfort. This is where Ford marketing has been letting them down. Tell people facts about how good the car is, not having Andrew Symonds walking in a towel from a car wash brushing his teeth.

I think you'll find there holding off on the Fiesta until the ECOnetic arrives later this year.

Just wanted to throw my two bobs worth in. I really don't think the marketing department has done anything worthy of mention since the BA marketing campaign. The new Fiesta add isn't too bad but the "can't get enough of this" add featuring the silver XR was the ducks nuts. Almost worked on me too. They need to bring that song back and do something with it although that bloody visa add uses it now. Got caught out when it first came on TV. I wasn't watching tv and when I heard the song I rushed around to have a look at the add and was gravely disappointed. Food for thought. Ford, wake up, please.

I dont think carmakers allowed to show vision of cars "tearing up the road" like they used to. Thats why we get ads like the FG one where the slick guy and his mrs are in an XR6 towing a jet ski through the bush. Also carmakers cant use the same song for ever (I got caught out by VISA ad as well)

Personally I preferred the AU1 XR6 VCT ad (screaming along the hillside) to the BA one (tamer, slicker extension of that idea) check it out on youtube; you wont be dissappointed. A shame there were no decent AU2/3 XR ads. The AU2/3 'We have ignition' campaign was bizarre as well, so not much retrospective love for AU fans.

The Mondeo and Territory ads are very clever and well presented. They are both entertaining while managing to get the message across in a clear manner.

It's been a good campaign and it will be interesting to see where this series takes us next.

Cheers

Huge Ford/FPV presence at the Musclecar Masters, new FPV GS sedan and ute on show as well as F6-E, Holden had SFA on show.
Great job Ford/FPV.

Hmmmmmmm, ford should of just kept alot of its cash in the V8super cars, instead of cutting back as they did. As the saying goes win on sunday sell on Monday. They will possibly suffer bady due to their money pinching mistake. But hay thats my voice.

Sorry to dig this one up, just wanted to pose the question of a change in the media winds direction lately?

Seems to be a lot of good stuff about Ford (esp. Falcon, Terry, Fiesta) and a lot of average (if any) stuff about Holden's.

Now, being fair, we can't really turn around and say the journalism at Carsales or Drive or Carpoint or Carsguide is any better now than it was 3 months ago simply because they're printing the good stuff re Ford, just simply that it's heartening to see. A big well done to Ford for sticking to their message and finally (so it seems) starting to make some headway in getting it through.

they are advertising the fiesta econetic at the moment, on the back of its impressive 'eco challenge' results. the voice over says something along the lines of 'which car is more economical than a hybrid - ford fiesta econetic... etc etc'

holden also have a barrage of ads too though. they actually mention the 4cyl mondeo and honda crv in the 3L sidi add saying how the new engine is more economical than some 4cyl cars.

before anyone arcs up regarding the commo's ADR figure of 9.3L/100km, they are well within their rights to quote this figure, and they are only comparing other ADR figures too.

I think Burela’s done a great job of helping Ford connect with the media. Ford had a bad run with Car Sales in particular but to his credit Burela gave them an interview. That combined with throwing a bit of money their way (FPV GS guest reviewer competition) and becoming more involved with the stories written (Drive.com Bathurst Challenge link on Ford.com.au) means they’re getting on board.

Burela seems to also be able to target good news stories in his monthly press conference. Whether it’s Falcon Sedan outselling Commodore, or Fiesta’s increase in market share and fuel consumption, he’s providing the good news stories. He even managed to defuse the story doing the rounds about Ford dropping the V8 from the Falcon range.

I still think Ford AU is doing it tough (dropping local Focus production could be a real sticking point) but he’s making it look like there’s momentum, and the media/public are responding. Ford need to deliver now (ie Diesel Territory / 4-Cylinder Falcon) to stay credible.
