Your obviously not telling us the full story. You ask for help yet cant even tell when you last saw your car or spoke to your mate. Pretty simple questions mate. has it been 2 months since you saw your car or 10 years ?
when did you last see your mate , was it 2 months ago or 10 years ago ? any idea whatsoever ? . |

He's chasing everyone/everywhere for a car that could have been sold months ago and now be sitting in a wreckers yard in pieces or in someone else's garage being renovated. When did he actually last see the car there? His "mate" says the Bank rejected his payments , could be "mate" didn't have enough money to pay them and needed some quick cash. He needs to be able to ascertain that the car was even there when his mate got evicted. Remember there's more than 1 car missing here. Maybe contact to the sherrif to see if was even there at the time is well worthwhile. |

Well there is something in that, but I think the point has been missed.
If there was a clear out, no cars should be there now. They dont half do it. |

He has been asked the same questions countless times, and has still not answered them, I have personally asked the questions in a simple point form and he still dodged around them and did not answer.
The car has possibly sat under a tarp rusting away for 10 years, and no one has seen it for months or years it probably went out in the last rubbish clean up two years ago, and this is the first time someone even noticed it gone. I have hundreds of photos of my Coupe, and every other car and project I have, seems strange that absolutely no photos exist of this car anywhere. Any car sitting in a yard under a tarp (accellerates rusting putting a tarp over a car) is obviously not the next Street Machine SMOTY winner. I am starting to get a feeling this car went ages ago as it had sat there not cared for or about for ages, and had deterioated under that tarp to a level where it was deemed to be an eye sore by the trustee and put our for council rubbish collection. If the OP is fair dinkum he would by now have answered the questions asked here by people trying to help him. Yet reading back over the tread he has not answered any of them. We still don't know the last time the car was seen, how long its been there, where it was as a general location could give people in that area a heads up if they see or hear something. No point asking for help if you do not give people the answers they need to help out.

Haha, you might be right, but everyone has tippy toed around for long enough, most people are thinking the same thing and have asked the same questions.
If he he is serious about getting to he bottom of this he needs to have a serious chat with his mate first up, get all the facts and go from there, cars just don't disappear like this, and the closest link to the car is this so called mate.

Wow,5 pages !!!
I think its been said well a few times Sheriiffs dont just turn up for an eviction or take posession of a repo un announced Generally with repos, you do get a notification to amend first, then the repo process begins If its a car repo as such it gets stored in a holding yard first then IF you dont follow thru or organise something , its sold on In the case of posession on a property , i highly doubt a full evacuation of goods will take only 2 days 90 days in arrears before the alarm bells ring, but they dont turn up on the 91st day with an eviction order You can stall then if you have to Most banks, real estate agents have there own cleaning contractors for this stuff Does that then give the contractor full ownwership of any goods left ??? I know a few years ago my mother in law had a bad tenant ,who ran up a huge bill then skipped But he left behind a car,by the law she could not sell this car to recover costs until a certain time has expired After that time she took posession of this car , and by the law held it till he paid all costs Seems to be a few pages missing from this book Maybe your mate or his girl friend , got the rags a while ago about the wrecks sitting in the yard and just got them removed If the banks took them or whatever wouldnt there be some record of this ??? Or maybe as said , if its not you involved with the banks youll maybe never know Good luck, and maybe its time for a new mate |

The bank would not have taken it, from what I can work out is was a partly tripped badly rusted car rotting under a tarp, so it would not be seen as an asset by the bank, rather as a liability, where it would need to be removed to prepare the property for sale, if that is in fact what is happwning.
We are all just guessing here at the moment. Will be interesting to see what actually happened. |

Anyway I tend to agree with Stefan on this one, its like the TV series 'Lost' and I lost interest in that half way though the pilot. So good luck in recovering this Landau, but I am over and out..... |

There is certainly a risk that the vehicle has been treated as abandoned by someone.See

I personally would be angry at the "Mate" whom let this happen, without letting you know of the potential issue. With friends like this, who needs enemys.

i have visited this mate several times over the last two years. the day i bought it is the day i took it to his place, as i had already asked permission before buying it, as it wouldn't have been bought if i couldn't store it. as for your crap about being a rusted and worthless hulk, it is in better condition than the landau that has been restored by me in my projects thread. if i took the effort to restore that, don't you think i'd restore this one too? as for when the car was last seen? according to him a few days ago. according to me, the last i saw it was about 6 months ago. have i been there since? yes, just 3 weeks ago. when i asked him how the car was, he said it's still there, it's not doing anything. so i took it on face value, as i was pushed for time. if you look at my last post you will see that i have hit a brick wall with the cops until i get it transferred to my name, as it was unregistered when purchased. that means i need to wait till Monday. what part of that do you not understand? I have also called the sheriffs office and got an answering machine, as they are only there on Monday and Thursday at the Richmond office, which would be the one who would have dealt with it. so once again, i am against a brick wall. i can't get the police to take an interest yet, and i can't get a timeline from the sheriff until Monday either. i have felt no need to take photos of my 20+ vehicles until such a time that i actually bring it to my shop and begin it's restoration. anything else you reckon i am being sus about?

You come here for free advice, you get some free advice, you get some free doubt too. It is good practice for when you finally have to convince the police to do something about it.
Police: "What, you haven't sighted the car in six months? We'll let you know when we have some manpower spare." Question: Why is there no emoticon for crickets chirping? |

2 years under a tarp, and not seen for 6 months....yeah it will be in mint condition, and I wonder why the cops are not interested in reporting a car stolen that according to RTA records no longer exists PS you will not be able to transfer the car into your name as it does not exist at this stage according to the RTA, and you would need a blue slip to make it exist again, to prove the identity and existence of the vehicle. If it was that easy anyone could walk into an RTA office with a vin number and a hand written receipt and transfer that Phase 3 into their name and then head over to the cop shop to report it stolen, so that is not going to happen. And for all we know that car was crushed 6 months ago, or traded for a bag of weed, or sold for parts etc etc Last edited by XB GS 351 Coupe; 19-12-2010 at 12:32 AM. |

The way i look at it is its your fault this has happened. If the car meant that much to you wouldn't you be keeping a better eye on it??? I for one would have just to make sure this sort of thing didn't happen. I feel you only have your self to blame.
This car is long gone by now and cut up some where. Chalk it up to experience and a lesson learned the hard and expansive way. |
