Well I've just bought my first house, we own our wife's focus outright, I pay bucket loads of tax as it is, and I use a completely legitimate salary packaging and tax minimization strategy available to me. Now the rules have changed, yes the rules that said I could do that previously, we've had to reevaluate and are it is no longer viable.
There's plenty of tax concessions out there, get off your high horse if you think this one is any different than the rest. They shouldn't overnight shutdown an industry that's been running for almost 30 yrs. And if you run the numbers a novated lease isn't always viable. Which most ppl who have looked into it know. Anyway there's another thread for this discussion, but I thought given this being an enthusiast forum it was worth posting that my interest in an exiting car like the st fiesta will no longer be owned by me in the short term. |

No problem.
But don't have a whinge because the tax rules have changed. Tax rules change every year. And if anyone is serious, then it's got to be hard to justify a vehicle like the ST Fiesta as being an appropriate vehicle for business use. Same as its hard to justify the big Toorak tractors used for the school run as generating income for a business. And for what it's worth, I would never buy a second hand Fiesta ST, or Focus ST as I reckon they may have a very hard life. Some cars are just not worth the hassle if you don't know their history. |

Actually they did change the fbt rules to 20% flat rate just a couple of years ago Anyway moving on... I bought a 1 yr old xr6t and it was practically new, granted the 4 cylinders are a bit more risky, but hopefully can still find good examples. But still not ideal getting the smaller engines second hand.

Do you really think that the Ford ST range are boy-racer? I would have thought the lack of bonnet scoop wouldn't make it such. No hate, just not interested if ppl think I'm a ******* boy-racer!

But in regards to rice, just don't put a shopping list on your windscreen, don't install a cannon exhaust, forget drift toys, and don't hang anything on your mirror or put an action figure on your dash, and you'll be right. But really it's your insecurity to contend with. Like a g6et being mistaken as an XT or grandpa vehicle, those in the know will respect your decision. Cheers, Duke |

Has anyone seen the brochure at ford dealers? and can comment on any options available? The XR4 was $24990 + ORC, which i picked up back in 2007 for $28k drive away, so it should fit snugly around $30k. |

They probably won't have one. When I inquired about the Focus ST they said they will have to email it.

Yep i first hand saw the brochure when i went to a dealer in Sydney. I have the photocopies at home. They're the same as the nz pdf i linked to. (might need to double check the engine specs, but the rest was bang on).
My source was a local dealer who rang me to update me about pricing. FoA haven't released anything formal, so i'm treating it as a little birdy / tentative pricing. Dealer might be jerking me around to keep me as a potential customer. Will have a chat to him on Monday to confirm pricing, and what the ORC will come to. Cheers, Duke |

Just got hold of the brochure for the "new" model Fiesta, also has the ST details included.
Delivery expected "around September" according to salesman, had very little info on either the ST or the Metal version (I queried if you can option the Metal's black wheels on the ST). He is hoping to see them priced (just) below $30K to remain competitive against the Focus...

I think the ST range are very boy racer, and I love that (about them) and all warm/hot hatches. IMHO, the bigger the body kit and the crazier the colour, the better!!

Unfortunately I think demand will lead to a long waiting list :( I had a similar experience when looking at a VW Polo before buying the Focus. Bought the Focus in June 2011 (runout model) or alternatively I would have been waiting for a 2011 plated Polo to arrive in the country in February 2012

The $25,990 includes GST, so I'd be expecting it to be on the road for a touch over $28.5k - pretty good buying in my book.

I can't help but feel Ford OZ are charging a 'Thai' price, for a Fiesta built in Germany (and that's a great thing) Here's some interesting news re: American Fiesta and Focus ST buyers: Ford Focus ST and Fiesta ST Buyers to Get Free Performance Driver's Training http://www.torquenews.com/106/ford-f...ivers-training |

Has anyone placed an order? If so, have you placed it with details of pricing? I sent the salesman we got our Focus through an email, and he said his dealership hasn't locked down pricing with Ford yet.
