That is a horrific result - there's no sugar-coating it. I'll be very surprised if the MkII can do much to improve it.

It could be better, no doubt. I think you will be surprised.
Anyway, if volume meant much GM wouldn't have gone bankrupt, would they.

If your losing $5,000 to $10,000 on each car sold, then i guess its far better to only sell 99 a month, instead of 299 a month.

Serious questions should be getting asked at head office, that means Territory was less than Falcon? It's a shame, the Falcon and Territory are good cars but every month it's the same end result.........

It's also selling on merit as well (I assume) as see the expensive versions everywhere, hardly see a lot of the base model. At 19990 it must be the pick of the bunch at the moment - apart from the worst automatic transmission in the history of the motor vehicle, maybe exaggerated a little...

I reckon Ford ran out of Falcon and Territory stock.....

Great result for Focus and just goes to show what aggressive advertising can do, there's a message in that...

Just imagine if Figo, Fiesta, Focus, Mondeo, Ecosport, and Kuga could all get 1500/mth, that would be 9,000 sales.

Falcon - 1,376 - lower than previous months.
Territory -1,349 - much lower than previous months.

December is traditionally a quiet sales month but having said that one thing has become clear to me .... the EcoLPI was not successful at all!

Total BS.. They have nearly the same product range!!!

And why do poeple complain about fleets sales all the time?? Fleets come back every 3 years where most private buyers (ones that pay from they own money) are lucky if they come back after 5-7 years.. Plus fleets ALWAY get serviced at dealers, not so for private buyers!!!

Anyway, I'd want the one with the most profit!!!

I'll reply.. Ford are the 3rd BEST SELLING make in the country.. If they have problems, then alot of other makes have far greater one!! And the 2 infront of them loss more sales then Ford did this year, so they are actually closer to #1 this year then last!!!

You say the same thing in every single topic.. Time to build a bridge with your own personal experiences I say!! It is not as bad as you make out..

Thats good news. Certainly adds to the rumours that Falcon will stay RWD and Taurus was never seriously in the mix.

I wonder how many millions they spent on the PPV bringing it up to police spec and how many decades it will take to recoupe the money spent selling double figures a month.

EcoLPi builds have only increased from the small target they set for it within the last few weeks before shutdown. Up nearly 50%. From February you should start to see it get to where it should be.

December and January are never good months for Falcon.

I would say December/January is never a good month for car sales generally, given that everyone has their minds on Christmas and with all the public holidays, everything is shut.

Don't forget the assembly plant would have been closed for a fair chunk of December and probably January as well.

Right, add those two together and add another 500 odd for Ute,
that's roughly 3200 units or 15 days production which is exactly
three weeks production in December - sounds about right to me....

Especially with FG II and Territory now commanding premium prices.
Nothing to see here folks...........

Anyone can do their bit to help if they really want to.

Instead of buying a second hand XR8, XR6T or G6ET buy a new XR6 or G6 (or new higher model if you can afford it).

Ford has 2-3 more models than Mazda, that's fairly significant from an R&D, marketing and logistics POV.

Fleets are frequently serviced by fleet management companies in-house. Fleet vehicles are also sold at a significant discount.

Fleets deliver the economy of scale that makes the private purchases so profitable. Mazda on average sells more units per model than Ford, and mostly to private buyers. Its a no-brainer which one would deliver a more favourable trading position.

Had they got a full four weeks production, those figures would have been:
Territory 1800
Falcon 1800
Ute 500

Let's not forget that Territory and Falcon are now commanding much higher prices thanks to no discounts on new models.

Not like Holden.. Cruze hatch is coming, so lets increase line rate. Great move, NOT!! Now they are in a world of pain, becuase the sales aren't there..
