Very true!

Perhaps it's time to invest in starter motor manufactures: the new tech which is coming out in many cars may result in more frequent starter motor changes!

From what I've heard and read, the Hybrids blow the Falcon out of the water for running costs, especially if the taxi spends most of its time completing stop/start city driving.
Well it really does make sense and especially for city driving the Camry's would be 'on battery' most of the time.....Does anyone know if they also have regenerative braking?

This feature is great because it slows the car down without using the brakes and also recharges the battery slightly so you save on brake wear also.

Plus I think the old story of Hybrid batteries being REALLY expensive is just a myth. I know the Prius batteries are actually quite small.

^^^^i don't think there is such a thing as a hybrid that DOESNT have regenerative braking.....after all, braking heat = energy loss.

'Re gen braking' is caused by the electric motor currents naturally slowing the motor down automatically when there is 'no demand' to make power. ie foot off accelerator pedal.

When the motor slows down its creates electricity flow through the magnets.

They now capture this energy and put it back into the battery.

I just finished 10 yrs on Electric forklifts and you very rarely actually use the brakes except for emergency stops.

And now they're using A/C motors that have no carbon brushes or commutator so these new motors don't even require servicing!
