Crap Wally, sorry to hear.

My sister lost two friends in Toowoomba, a Pastor and his wife swept away helping their kids to safety. It's amazing to read about what must have seemed like a straightforward and calm evacuation turned to tragedy in such a short time:

As much as i dislike Anna Bligh, i dont envy her and wouldnt want to be in her shoes
i watched the flood news this morning they had adf boss , PM gillard, ses boss, and Anna Bligh, i have to say the press fired questions at her left right and centre and she did`nt flinch, she was really informed and i`d say working hard to help her people out, i`m with you i would not want that job.

on another note looking at the news and floods on the tube and on the forums, its great to see acts of kindness and even heroism, when the chips are down Aussies stick together, best wishes to all those affected by the floods.

I must say that I am extreamly impressed with the way Anna Bligh is handling herself and the situation at hand, the PM on the other hand ??.

If I have to listen to Julia Gillard put on her sombre tones anymore I might just kick the tv in. She seriously grates me.

These unfolding events are just insane......

Seeing all the pics and news reports from down here in Mexico ( Vic ).....it all looks like something out of a big budget Hollywood disaster movie !

Its been raining down here as well quite heavily with some isolated areas flooded - but nothing like what you guys are seeing up north !

Our thoughts are with you - stay safe.

Just saw the Kookaburra Queen floating sideways down the river @ Pinkenba. Was totally out of control. The crazy thing was there was people on it! Luckily the Coastguard got a tow rope to them and towed them back upstream to a secure mooring.

Unbelievable stuff.

Don't make us sick.. 2 weeks ago she didn't care about northern QLD or about places like Dalby and Warwick.. What was it, $1 million dollars donated to the Qld Gov??

Shes a joke, Kevin Rudd hoses her all day every day....

Very sad when people die. And I know my problem is minor in comparison.

Just took a boat trip down the street and quite upset at seeing the god aweful truth.

I had to travel to Brisbane again at 12:30 to drop the g/f off at Energex, I cannot believe the amount of people who were SIGHT seeing at the kangaroo point cliffs.. Do these people have any idea?? They were blocking the road while people like my g/f was trying to get to work to do her job!!! Id rather her be at home safe but she has to be in the control centre to help run the power grid...

Around 200 odd in our evac center now, the are still people arriving as the council/police are still clearing people out.
The Breamer is expected to peak in the next few hours, 19.25m & rising.
Been listening to uhf channel 40 and most roads are closed. Some people are getting about in small areas.

“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

If this is true, and I hope to god it isn't. This will have to be one of the worst natural disasters Australia has had to deal with in modern history.

Can anyone confirm this information is false?

Are you talking about the Dam wall?

Yes apparently it has small cracks in it, and the gov have said that it should not fall appart tho,ugh the only time that there would be an issue is if they stopped letting water out of it or made a radical change to the amount of water coming through it. .01% of a chance apparently.

Another issue thats just come up is the moggil ferry, apparently its come away from its docking and the goverment are now talking about having to distory it so it doesnt come down the river...

I can't promise it's false but it certainly lacks credulity.

The dam would be designed and constructed so that wouldn't happen in these scenarios....it's not like a kerb that's designed to accomodate a 1 in 5 rain event.
