I haven't watched last nights episode but last weeks show bombed in the ratings with only around 650,000 people tuning in nationally. Hopefully it picks up as the weeks go by.
Now off to watch last nights show on IQ.

Picked up on a couple of mistakes
like Steve with the Supercharger force feeding the petrol as was also mentioned by a previous letter writer And did anyone hear Warren say he had a 1971 HX Kingswood (not the Kingswood) Nineteen seventy one I wish I had had one back then 6 years before they were released I think he might have meant 1977 Do they know anything about cars or are they just actors reading a script also what was al that crap about cordless drills Does there have to be one idiot player in each episode? but it is getting better thats the main thing thanks John |

Agreed last fairlane, it is a bit of a stretch this show, they are still trying very hard to be as funny as the UK version and focus way too much on pizzaface. I laughed once last night in Oz top gear, then watched some of the boxed set of season 10 on DVD i bought for around $30.00. In the UK version, I laughed several times even though I had seen it before.
BTW, has anyone else noticed that on SBS when they play the top gear theme, the oz version gets the original song whilst the UK version gets a sort of de-tuned version? It's been annoying me for the last year and a bit and I seem to be the only one who's noticed.

like as mentioned before that the racing style was similair to skaifey might explain the times of the r8 as he would have plenty of experience with them.and with the wheel comparison just proves all these people who criticise a car because it dosnt have the biggest rubber are compensating for somthing else(the old my **** is bigger than yours argument) but not much good if you cant use them

But who the hell would pay 13 grand for wheels and tyres! when he first said that i thought ok, that includes brakes as well, but nooo, that's the wheel/tyre package alone! what a joke! |

I really like the comparo of the R8 with ultra bling rims vs standard 20s.
I would like to see a comparo test of a commy and falc, V8 or 6 it does not matter, fitted with the same tread pattern and compound tyres on 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 etc inch rims. Maybe some of the truths and myths of bling vs performance can be dispelled. |

Steve love the Ford, Charlie Cox the V8. In the drag race, the R8 jumped the start, and still got mowed down. Not much of a comparsion, more like a drift session!

Well I have been enjoying this season, so far and think it can only get better. Was shocked that a wheel and tyre change could make such a big differance. 3 Sec a lap is big. Like the comment about why they sell then with the 22"

Am enjoying this season (even if the electric car bit was lame) The superclubbie (good name, bet that will stick!) laps were awesome - was hoping they would throw some r-specs on it next and see what time it could really get down to.

I thought last night was a great improvement over previous episodes, James was far more at ease and the show flowed better. Agree with Flappist, the back-to-back on the Clubsport was a great segment where they established a real baseline and showed the differences from there. I'd also like to see a std wheel/tyre package on both Fords & Holdens, maybe several models to measure the cars without such a cheap and significant variable. Good work IMO. |

last night was the 3rd TGA I have seen I gave up after ep 2 last season, looks like a big improvment, there were a few lame bits but every auto show has them (yes even TG UK have had plenty) I'll continue watching for the time being

That bloke with the cordless drills is pretty thick! CORDLESS DRILLS!
And the hey charger part? the W%A&N*K@E#R didn't even know witch way the fingers were pointed! Sorry but I think there worse. And whats with him saying " And that supercharger is forcing more fuel into the engine! " I mean really, The poms are taking the pi_ss out of us as it is. If your gunna do a show like this do it with blokes that know what the he-ll there tlking about. Very annoying. Last edited by TERMINATOR X; 19-05-2009 at 09:05 PM. |

l reckon the hosts have got the worst job on Aussie TV dressed up as the best. Having to fill the shoes of 3 natural and generally loved characters with well defined personality's would be tough. Not that l feel sorry for them, last nights show was embarrassing. The Hamster clone is especially irritating, his review of the HSV was like a parody of Top Gear itself.
The money would be better spent by SBS in trying to create something uniquely Aussie, after all we did have car shows before Top gear. Cheers, mondie |

Something along the lines of....."I've got a 5.4 Litre V8, which has a supercharger to force the fuel into the cylinders!". : : Haven't really seen much improvement in Season 2 but I still think it's enjoyable to watch. I must admit the 470kW HSV sounded great!!

A huge improvement I reckon over last weeks rubbish.
It still needs to improve but signs are looking better. Did anyone notice that the superclubbie report had bits from Bankstown interspersed with bits from Wakefield? From the way beard boy he did the piece to camera out of turn 9 it looked like a classic "pick up" to make the voice over work butwas still a bit lame. I should go get a flame suit but I feel sorry for Charlie Cox. He obviously had to do a Clarkson impersonation last year which was NEVER going to work and his rant to the camera in the last ep about buying Australian was IMO the best 30 seconds of the WHOLE Oz series so far. When Oran Park closes will they use Marulan as well as Wakefield? |

well any forced induction except for direct injection does force the fuel and air as the fuel is squirted into the inlet manifold then forced into the engine

So you comparing season 2 of one show compared to season 10 of the other... _ There is the problem right there, people expectations are over the moon. Also, perhaps we don't enjoy Australian humor as much as British humor... It was a good show, the wheel size thing, the eclectric car all relevent segments. The showing of the old adds is good also, some people may not have seen the adds and it shows the difference in marketing through the years.

Well I reckon it is getting better and better.
HSV wagon wipes the floor with Clubsport R8....hahahahahhahah,,,bogan pride at its finest. I wonder if Holden did another one of their "special journo tunes" to try to beat the RS6 and it has bitten them on their bum? |
