But what would an iPhone be without reception issues
too true lol, problem is the certain way you have to hold it to loose signal is the way most people do, you pretty much can't touch the bottom sides. Or just use a case to insulate the antenna. Either way for a phone that costs as much as it does a problem of this size isn't acceptable.

Over 50 examples on gizmodo. Love Apples response as well..not

Quote:
Gripping any mobile phone will result in some attenuation of its antenna performance, with certain places being worse than others depending on the placement of the antennas. This is a fact of life for every wireless phone. If you ever experience this on your iPhone 4, avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available cases.
Basically acknowledging there is a problem and saying tough ****, we made it, you bought it, deal with it.

reception issues are an ios4 issue (software not hardware), the reception looks as-though it drops but doesnt.

apparently ios4.1 is coming in the next week to fix this

I just got an 8gb 3GS (I do not need more than 8gb) I carry 2 phones and a touch everytime I travel for work, so I ordered the 8gb so I can just have 1 unit. My mrs whinges she wants an iphone so I figure in a few months when iphone 4 comes out, I will upgrade and she can have the 3GS :P

I got the 8gb because it had the same features as the 32gb, but was on a cheaper cap (also 32 and 16gb were out of stock) and I only have 3gb of music on my 8gb touch now (I can drive for 8hours and never hear the same song so it is enough), along with a few apps. I find if I have too many apps I never utilise all of them, plus angry birds is to hard to put down lol.

Hi all, recently got a 16GB 3GS. After reading other posts I'd had some concerns about how it would work with the Bluetooth in my G6ET, but it's all good, no different to my old Nokia N95.

Big question now is who has updated to iOS 4 and does it still play nicely with the FG, or should I stick with the existing iOS3 as I know it works 100%?

Thanks in advance, Dean.

From what I've read recently the upcoming software "fix" does not sort out the design of the antenna, but uses the software to change the signal bars so they are not as sensitive. The problem will still remain but users wont see as dramatic a reduction in the signal strength on the screen. (note: this is from various tech sites and can't be confirmed until the update is released)

On the positive side, if you normally hold your iphone in your left hand, all you need to fix this issue is hold it upside down. :p

Depends on where you live mate, obviously in a city center then you won't notice much difference at all but on the outskirts/boarders of 3G service i have noticed i can get 3G with my old phone but the iphone only registers 3 bars of GSM

That's fair enough, you're entitled not to, so long as you can explain why with an Optus sim it wouldn't work properly but other Telstra and 3 iPhones work perfectly...
