Unmarked silver late model Holden Astra had a car pulled over the other night in Wantirna VIC,
Had the red and blue lights on the dash and in the rear hatch.

If they were honest about road saftey they wouldnt hide or have unmarked cars ...they would cruise the hwys and therefore prevent accidents ect .... but of course there is a cost in that and would realize no revinue ..about time they just owned up to be TAX COLLECTORS in a state that has sold every thing and has no other revinue source other than petrol, smokes, motorists, rego ect ...regards Kev

In Victoria as long as it is driven by a sworn member of the police in "the execution of his duty", its a police car. Doesn't matter one iota who Its registered too.

They had no led's next to the plate but i saw all the gear on the dash and am 100% sure it was cop's.. Shifty bugger's

Here in Perth, twice I have seen white, unmarked FG utes with what looks to be tradies' lockable canopies on the back, that have pulled people over on the Mitchell Fwy. 'Cheeky buggers', I thought to mysef.

Here in Sydney the utes with the lockable canopies are K9 units.

There is a silver Lancer EVOX in Toowoomba Queensland. My boss has an Imprezza WRX STI and he has said the cop has tried to make him drag by revving up beside him, but it's common knowledge he's a cop now. While I can understand these type of vehicles are needed to go undercover and get these hoons, I don't understand why they need SSV Commodores when an SS does the same job? I've seen a few SSV Police vehicles, but maybe they just badge them that way to make them look flasher?

Resale value.. The SSV's bring more money at auction then the SS's so they get a higher resale percentage, thats the only reason why the government buy them.

Fair enough when it turned into Denman there were 3 officers in it. Have also seen them in ordinary cars lately. Just out side of Singleton a few days ago there was an early 90s hilux 4wd on the side of the road with an officer with a speed gun. I was like "WTF!!!" have fun catching people in that.
The silver ssv had a HSV sticker on the window at one stage. Some one else with a silver ssv put the same sticker on as the cop car and the cop car seemed to dissapear within 2 weeks of the copycat car. The old hilux ute was a joke. the first time i saw it was when it was trying to pull someone over. The guy just kept on driving because he didnt realise it was the cops!
As of last week there is a new unmarked gold/orange ssv going around. its much harder to pick then the other unmarked ones. anyone in the upper hunter be careful around any new SSV's.

My mate last year was on the way to Grampians in Victoria, He owns a modified Skyline Gtst, He said a Wrx came beside me . The guy in the WRX was slightly revving at the lights to say he wants run him and he said so i put my foot down with the Mrs in the car. He went up to about 145 km/h and he was ahead of the WRX and he goes i heard this cop siren oll of a sudden and he freeked out looked back in his rear view mirror that wrx was an undercover cop car & he got pulled over. He got done for speeding and drag racing under the hoon laws and other things, He is still yet to get his license back. I was speaking to him the other day about this and bagging him and he goes at least i beat the cop lol

In Canberra, there is an old Toyota Hilux (I'd say early 90s model) with racks and whatnot, and the stealth lights in the front and rear windows. Also a black VE SS ute with similar light setup.

There is no way I would want a female in my family pulling over for an old Holden Vectra, I would be telling them to drive to the nearest police station. Too many weirdos out there impersonating officers.

That's the difficulty: too many impersonators out there but the cops are now using hoon confiscated cars.

I would doubt it's a police car. Being St Kilda, you're bound to see anything happen there. Out of all the driving I've done around the city, I've never seen anything other than the usual crop of cars they use. Photo would have been handy. ;)

Yeah, maybe I should have taken a snap with my mobile and seen if they reacted. ;) Being St Kilda with all the hooking and drugs it could have been an undercover thing. Probably wasn't TMU but still from where we were sitting it looked like they were getting a ticket. It was on Princess St about two weeks ago and thinking back it was 5am not at night.

Saw an unmarked silver SS ute on the monash freeway outbound springvale exit a few weeks ago pulling over a 350x. 20 minutes later on the return trip a tow truck had been called... sucker!!

There is an unmarked sportsy road bike up at Redcliffe (not sure what kind as I don't know bikes) I saw him at a servo showing of the red and blue lights above the license plate to the cashier, must have been his mate or something. I could see his uniform under his riding leathers, he had the jacket unzipped.

Saw an unmarked base model FG ute pulling over someone in Torquay on sunday.

Never thought I'd see the police using base model utes for HWP work. You'd expect if they wanted to use utes they would use an XRT or SS.

Best I have seen was a VE SS made out to look like a taxi. The give away was the noise it made going up the road WOT.
