I shake it to stop it dripping down the side of my car, never even thought about doing it to gain a few extra drops. Cbf standing there for that! Although I can agree with those who do, dam Petrol prices!! :

I shake then tip the nozzle up when I pull it out so I dont get any petrol on the paint, not to get my moneys worth.

Or I just unscrew (BBQ fuel)

A few drips is only what, .1c? Some people are cheap! lol.

I shake it like I mean it, then I put hands in the air and throw em' around like I just don't care. $1.65 a litre does strange things to man.

This thread is gold!

I think it's been established now that it's more the case of people shaking so they on't get nasty fuel stains on the paint.

I'm even more of a shaker now I own a BA XR6.

Although, at $1.39 for V-Power, I do feel a tad sad when I see fuel drop onto the ground.

I shake out as much as possible so it does not drip onto the paintwork when removing the nozzle from the fuel tank.

Same, some people thank that i do it to get the last drop. But that is just real sad and those two drops wouldn't make any difference to my car.

I try to park a bit of a disstance from the pump so there's not much slack in the hose. After filling, shake, then turn nozzle upside down while pulling it out. This isnt to get every last drop in the tank, just to get no drops on the side of the car.

We need to establish the difference between the "Tap" and the "Shake."

The "Tap" is an important wrist action that causes any fuel remaining in the nozzle on the pump hose to run out and into the tank. It is purely to allow the filler nozzle to be returned to the pump without the risk of dropping fuel onto the paint, leaving nasty stains. Done mostly by car lovers who take pride in their ride as opposed to

The "Shake" which is usually done by hose stranglers trying to get every last drip out of the hose as its their little way of getting their own back at those big nasty oil companies. That extra 2c worth and the extra few ml out of the hose are their way of making a stand and they feel better for it. Those who "shake" instead of tap and say they are shaking to save getting the petrol on their paint, are tight ar$#$ in denial.

I laugh at shakers! Its so funny watching people wrestle the hose up into the air to try and get their extra few c! The funniest though is i saw a chick at BP the other night fill with 91, then pick up the 95 and ultimate hoses and shake them into her tank too! ha.

well I know at most servos I work at from so many people complaining thinking we rip them off on the volume of fuel, we get our pumps calibrated monthly at least and on the 10L calibration I've seen only between 9.99L and 10.03L
