Well i have never had the diff out of it. It was in the car when i brought it. Trsitain said it was 4.3 gears. I do know one thing at 3000rpm its sitting on 97kays. Thats with a 28" tyre. Motor made its power at 6800rpm on the dyno. Had shift light set a 6800. last run put it to 7300 to make 1st gear longer. Convertor has to come out anyway as its not big enough for it.

so your reving to 7300rpm across the line?? or only in first??
if you tell me what rpm you crossed the line at i will be able to tell you what gears you have, as long as your convertor was not slipping it's ring out that is.. just seems weird that you run out of legs with 4.3's, unless your wanting to cross the line under 7 |

croc, it should go straight to ste stall speed on the brake, i have heard of this 'creeping' problem before and i think its just the oil getting hot.
how long are you on the brake for?

it revs up slow on the tacho as soon as he puts his foot flat to the floor with the transbrake on,standing outside the car it doesnt sound like that though and revs sound instant.convertor is too tight though as there is a big difference in 60 foot times on and off the transbrake.

TCE did the convertor. Its coming out this week and sending off to the guys at TCE. have already talked to them. They going to loosen it up and put it to recommended 5500 stall. Getting it ready fro the big november shootout meet at calder.

I'm talking about this post... you never said anywere what rpm's you were crossing at or were the motor made power, your brother commented on it being a glide as if that was why it was running out of rpm, i made the point of it being 1:1 top as in no mater how many gears it has it will still mph the same with 1:1 top gear.. your car is running well congrats on that.. anyway good luck with it all, I'll keep my opinions to myself regarding your car.. |

I have been talking to the guys at TCE and they reckon that its running out of fuel. When Zoran ran it that time at Calder it had that header tank in it. They were just running from the header tank. Since then i have put the magnaflow 300 pump in the boot. Running a -10 line from pump t reg with -6 lines from reg to carby. With the return line from pump to top of fuel cell i have not even touched that. I think they are factory set at 25psi. perhaps its returning too much fuel to the cell.

Croc, I believe that you are on the right track with loosening the converter. I personally would opt for a 5800-6000 stall with good lock up on the top end. You are running very good mile per hour, but lagging in the 60ft by about .06-.08. If your converter company tells you they can not loosen the flash stall up without making the converter too loose on the top end, then it is time to find a new converter company.
With my 393 I run a 4.56 gear with 28" tires and run up to 132 mph crossing the line at 7100-7200 and has been as quick as 1.39 in the 60ft. The converter flashes 6100 on the launch. Good luck Chris

Also another couple of questions if anyone knows what causes this. Cause i am not a carby guru. When i first start the car from cold i have to keep pumping it to make the motor keep going otherwise it just stalls. Everything is fine when it gets warm. Also if i am coming up to the lights or a corner and brake a bit hard at slow speeds the motor tends to stall.

Try jacking the car up with a mate and rotate the wheel one full rotation and see how many times the pinion yolk turns that will tell you what gears you have in the diff.
Then you will know what revs it should be doing across the line. Depending on what revs you want to use and what the cam size is will help determine what TCE will build you for a convertor size |

Well the car is all ready for next weekend in the Shootout at Calder on the 15th. Cant wait. Its going to be a huge meeting with over 180 entries in so far. Just got my new stall in and redone the front and back end with new bushes.

Just got back from Calder. Ran a 10.4. Another PB. Slowly getting there. That was with exhaust on. Now that the convertor is working right need to change the gearing now as its only crossing the line at 7000 rpm. The track was very slippery on the saturday with alot of cars wheel spinning.

R/T- 407 60ft- 1.515 330- 4.292 660- 6.658 mph- 103.59 1000- 8.713 ET- 10.465 MPH- 128.79 It still needs more gearing as now the stall is locked up and not slipping its not crossing the line with enough revs. Plus it should be 60ft in the 1.4s. Going to get some caltracs and try. Also still sorting out the Pro Systems Carby. Every time we go to the track it gets a bit quicker. It just seems like the Pro Systems carbies need to go bigger in the jets all the time. Should also make a difference when i take the exhaust off.
