Then they will just claim that particular GT "must of been modified"

our_blue_xr6, you never mentioned how his claims were met by the other forum members.

Did they believe him or did they laugh at him?

Hey what I wear is for comfort and comfort alone. No its doesn't faze me what people do to there cars, I have seen some XR 8's with bulge stickers and they look good. Must admit I am not really a fan of calling something by a different name. The pics with the XT Falcon with GT marked on the side isn't to my taste but, I didn't buy the car so the owner is entitled to do what ever they please.

Contrary to you're belief, others are entitled to an opinion, the issue is not if the stripes look good (as they do on your car) the issue is, they do not deserve to be there.
If Ford bought out XR6 t's with their own custom stipes different to GT's would it be ok for all GT, N/A XR 6 and XT owners to copy them ? i think that would take something away from the original model.

If people can be bothered, can they please post any photos they can find of cars in this category (fake GT's, non-fords with ford bonnets, stripes, body kits, etc).

To tell you the truth i'd LOVE to see a Lancer with an XR8/GT bonnet on it !
(Only for laughs).

Cheers,

Actually I did mean that people are entitled to their opinion, of course they are, that's what makes the world fun. I unfortunately, was typing fast and made the error that made it look like they don't. By the time I realised what I'd said, it was too late to edit the post.

I personnally couldn't care less if people put stripes running up the doors and over the roof, it's their car and they can do what they like to it. I hardly see me putting stripes on the car taking anything away from the original model (which ever one that may be). The car is not trying to be anything else but a XR6T with stripes.

It would be interesting to find out who put the stripes on, a customer or the dealership.

Well good on Ford for bringing back the stripes from the former GT legends. Who would have thought they would be so popular. Fact of the matter is that the car is either a true GT or it isn't. It seems the stripes will be overdone, but only until the next fad. It will hurt to see the ricers copy it, or perhaps they of all people have some taste?

Pulled into the servo at Beresfield late last night...in comes what I thought to be (at a quick glance) a Citric GT. On getting out the car for a closer look it was none other than an XR6 with the GT stripes, with 'GT' written in them

so I took some pics, haven't downloaded them yet. The tosser thought I was admiring his car : instead of laughing at him.

I saw that thing a few weeks ago. it was parked next to the entrance with the back wheels up on ramps. tell you the truth I'd forgotten all about it. It just goes to show what lengths some manufactures will go to, to make a car look good.

I'd say that the dealer put them on as the car appeared to be new. :

Cheers, Danny

I'm putting a BA bonnet bulge on my EA and stuffed if i'm gunna listen to all the BA V8 purists who think it's wrong. Some people act as if a bonnet bulge is a copyright symbol of the V8's and that nobody without one is allowed to use it. I can understand why putting GT badges on a non-gt would be wrong (as the GT name is actually a symbol of what the car is), but as for body kits, stripes etc, it shouldn't be looked down upon if someone wants to make there car look a certain way. That's just my opinion anyways...

Saw some good ones today...

A black XR6T ute with silver stripes and bonnet bulge... But this isn't too bad the next one is a disgrace..
A purple XR8 ute with orange strips and GT badges on the side and rear.. I at least thought you would but Pursuit on the side not GT if you knew anything about Ford at all.... out:

Such a disgrace.. But each to there own.. I don't think anything but the 8's should have the bonnet bulge and nothing but the FPV cars should be able to have stripes.. But hey, thats my 2 cents..

The only circumstance in which a non-FPV vehicle can wear stripes, is if it is modified to the extent that it can beat a GT.

eg: The Minginator could get away with it.

Standard XT / XR-6 / XR-6T / XR-8 can not.

MY OPINION ONLY... I DO NOT WANT TO BE FLAMED...

No GT, No stripes!!

It's a bit like all the VT exec's with Clubsport body kits or fake EB / EL GT's. Every one knows they're not real and 9 out of 10 look dodgy.

But hey, that's just my opinion. Your car, your money you do what you want to it.

My XR8 is pretty standard and it can beat most standard GTs ( down the 1/4 at least ) so where does that leave me ??? :

People get way too wound up over this sort of stuff.. just like tickford wings ... who really cares ??
