sorry to bring up an old thread but will the BA air ducts on the BA dash meet up with the AU outlets?

From my view, I like the AU2 Fairmont interior much better than the BF Fairmont interior.
So much so that I tried to convince a Ford engineer at a car show recently, that all I really was looking for was a BF with a good interior, and maintained that an AU Fairmont interior fitted to a BF was a giant leap forward in presentation and comfort. For instance, I can't even read the trip meter or distance to empty indications in the B series, whereas the AU Fairmont has a specific display for those things, and it's even big enough to read! My AU2 has around 177Ks up, but I think I'll be keeping it for some time to come, if the FG is the best I can get as the current model! Cheers, 4ford |

i could still use the air when i had the ba dash, its just the most of the air came out the feet and a little on the windscreen (no matter what setting the heater controls were on) Quote:

I gotta say that after owning a high series BF2 GT-P, and now an AU3 XR8 that I vastly prefer the XR mid level spec AU interiour over all the B interiours, bar the GT/GT-P seating..
The B series dashes are all basically the same boaring generic thing, bar the guages and waste of space ICC.. The plastics of the B dashes arent as nice as AU3 and I prefer the smooth finish of the AU plastics, especially on the door trims.. Most of all I hated the primitive, near useless ICC setup. I found that to be the single biggest restriction of that dash. Ment you couldnt put in an aftermarket sterio and do away with the ICC setup completely.. I know its personal prefrence, but I think the AU interiour wins hands down..

agreed the plastics used in the AU are better, but the BA ICC is great, it make it more of a challenge to change things in it. i wanted to replace factory screen with a colour touch screen and connect a alpine user interface to it. would have cost under $500

hehehe... ITS IN!!! didn't need to change a lot of stuff (as in length of wiring or metal parts) apart from the BA center bottom mount and the bracket that loves trying to press into the heaterbox... angle grinder fixed both of those...
I'll be creating a build thread and possibly a thread on how to do the BA dash conversion... Depends on time really

Ok... all (dodgy) pictures are up on the AU's new build thread... refer to my signature below or under "AU Falcon.com Builds" Sub-forum..
Also I will be modifying the AU heaterbox to accept the BA/F style airvent outlets... The ICC will be fiberglassed flat then the order of stuff from top to bottom will be AU Clock Vents Tape/CD Player Demister Headlight/gas switches Airconditioner controls Ash Tray (coins) Ciggie lighter (GPS They will all be moulded in... This will work, this will work, this will work, this will work, this will work, this will work!!!! edit: and Cam, did you find the BA dash sat towards the middle of the car a little more than the AU dash did?
