They need a good dose of real cold up here I have noticed that Tourists outnumber real locals (not working backpackers) and rental cars seem to number local ones.

Parked up for a log book (work diary) rest no doubt.

Went for a drive to Mareeba today, via Mossman. They've got some serious Mango farms up there, especially the one that makes Mango Wine
We bought a dozen mixed. Fortunately they can send them home so we don't have to worry about excess baggage, what I do have to worry about is that they use StarTrack !! Came back via Kuranda, isn't that a scary drive down the hill ? I don't mean the road, just the idiots who think that 4WD means Four Wheeled Daredevil. And Tradies!....I thought Tradies were bad around my place (where it's flat) but here they all think they're Craig Lowndes doing a Hillclimb whilst chatting on a mobile!

It's best taken at a time when there's not too much traffic around and those times are getting few and far between. My young fella is on his Ls and I took him up and down there last weekend. That was fun but he did really well in spite of some of the *********. |

I'm a doctor in Cairns Base, just had a guy got wiped off his motorbike by a car in the Kuranda range come by us - totaled his spine in 3 places, dislocated 3 fingers in his right hand, cut his thigh and smashed his knee.
He's a paraplegic. Beware the range...

I admit that I do like having a bit of a spin up the range but if you wanna do that kinda thing you have to pick your times - usually early in the morning if that's your prerogative, but you should share the road with everyone else.
It's sad that nobody's got any patience these days and if you get stuck behind someone slow then tough luck! At least you arrive alive at your destination..

For the locals up here this is old news but I wonder if it's been told down south (Even a Camry driver like Auslandau isn't this dumb.)
It seems someone missed the ferry across the Daintree river by a few feet and finished up in the river. This is the same river we were watching 3metre Crocs this week just 500metres from the ferry. Yes he was from Vic and slightly over the limit PCA was .165! http://www.pressdisplay.com/pressdisplay/viewer.aspx (thats a photoshop'd front page btw)

Maybe he was listening to the GPS as like the Chinese tourists up in Queensland not long ago that rented a vehicle and the GPS told them to go straight ahead at a dead end road, to which they did and ended up in the ocean, Must be something in the water up that way..
