Edit: You can see in the test the Focus sport had a higher mid corner speed on almost every corner over the 86 and BRZ. I don't see how the driven wheels can hamper the fun when you are able to go faster.

And there is no way in the world the ToyaSube would have been COTY if it was driven from the front, not a chance in hell.

There are many of us that would never be interested in almost anything front wheel drive, that is our choice and our preference.

The only affordable RWD sports car before the ToyaSuba was the Nissan 370Z and the Mazda RX8 (now sadly gone - also WCOTY when introduced). The RX8 is totally awesome and such a clever design to have a small sports car but with the hidden capability of seating four but still feeling to the driver like a small pure two-seater sports coupe. But the rotary uses too much fuel/oil, I have long pined for Mazda to put a latest tech conventional engine in there, something like a modern iteration of the running gear fitted to the Honda S2000 in the RX8 with the advances made since then I think would be beyond awesome. The MX5 is there of course (also WCOTY winner before) but is just a little too girly to appeal to me for some reason although I am sure they are an epic drive.

The Nissan 370Z is a lovely thing but that big V6 sounds like crap and is a bit harsh (like most V6s). The ToyaSube will really come of age when it is given a bit more go no doubt in a coming iteration, but I still do hope for Mazda to reinvent the RX8 with a latest tech drivetrain, preferably in-line 4, 5 or 6 with DI etc. and fairly highly tuned, unless they can reinvent the rotary to not use oil and more petrol than a 335 GT.

You can't hang it hard sideways in the corners in a FWD Focus.

Try youtubing the RS or Megane.... True, it requires far more skill to maintain and control but hey....

There's even a few video reviews saying the Megane is easier, more controllable and more fun to drift than an 86... But shhh!

Make up your mind, it takes far more skill but its easier?

Talk about twisting things to suit a losing argument.

IMO, trying to drift a fwd is akin to walking down queen st wearing borats mankini.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
