i think this would have to be the most unfortunate marketing strategy i've seen in quite some time

i love ford intensely, but i certainly don't care about the pay off here. I would have thought it was pretty cool if they'd just said it on their FB page in the first place.

Is that a Ford badge on the front ?
Or have they retained the FPV badging front and rear ?
The F6 in the background looks to be badged as FPV still.

Then why have people guess what the vehicle is if the vehicle was going to be the same?? only amateur-hour Ford marketing could turn a positive occasion into a disappointment.

I don't see how this little campaign will increase sales, which I guess is the point of marketing.
How will a convo about it go?

'Hey did you hear that GT's are made at Ford now?'
'What does that mean? Weren't they always made by Ford?'
'Nah they went across the road.'
'Aww yeah cool.., how bout that new VF.'

Wow...so many people happy to sink the boot in at every oputunity...

Ford could have sat back, rolled the GT out with little fanfare, but they have stirred up some attention on social media, and gained TV spots for this. Take into consideration thst the VF is gaining attention, and for next to nothing, ford have clawed some back.

Go Ford.

This anticlimactic piece of crap deserves a boot, all this will do is create negative attention. VF is in a league of its own and will be until FU,

Talk back radio here in Melbourne were even talking about the FALCON GT this morning. I think it's good that the public is reminded that the Falcon is still here and the iconic muscle car Falcon GT is still being made at Ford's home.

They did possibly over hype the whole thing, but i don't see a great crime here.

The only people dissapointed will be those who stupidly thought that a 500kw Awd coupe was being released.

All ford have said was that for the first time in 36 years a nameplate returns in house...and tbats what people got. 335kws of supercharged HSV stomping grunt...

I dunno, most people already knew so I dont know how or why they would be disappointed tbh.

From their POV They got a lot of free publicity which is nothing but a good thing in marketing terms.

Its all good.....its got us all talking.

For the nostalgic old fools like me though - it would have been the icing on the cake had they released a Boss 351......and revived the GT and the 351 out of Broady. ( albeit power output not CI )
That's a 16Kw sticker increase - easily achieved with quick retune and a new filter from Herrod........lol

Either way - its done now..... we move on.

Well - Iguess that what's you get when you advertise via Wonder Bra strategy.....

When you leave too many things to the imagination......there will always be some disappointment.......

GT is still King of the Road......we musn't forget.

One needs to bite the bullet and change to iced coffee carton holders imeo

I guess even as a Holden supporter at heart I still wished for something like a 351 GT or just something to tie the old school era to the late model number when I saw the initial advertising.

If publicity was its main goal in this campaign the I guess they have succeeded so hats off.

Publicity is publicity these days.

So, they are essentially relaunching a car in 2013 visually unchanged from the one that debuted half a decade ago in 2008. A revised front bar would have gone such a long way- differentiate it from the model that has been running for 5 years, people will give it a second look. Shame, you do get the sense that Ford Australia is being run by fools.

well you're incorrect there, making assertions

i am disappointed and i never thought a '500kw Awd coupe' was coming

secondly that's not all they said, they said a 'very special' car just rolled off the assembly line, sparking much conversation before waiting a ridiculous amount of time to announce essentially nothing.

so let's focus on the facts here, continue having your own opinion but don't try to convince everyone that your opinion is gospel, and don't be insulting either.

With a new GT due out in 12 months do people seriously expect Ford to have made changes to the GT, at this 'late' stage? Seriously? Look, I'm sure Ford feels it is special being the first GT they have made in X number of years, and probably thought some enthusiasts would feel the same way.

No..

The only thing I thing they needed to do was add something to represent the change... either a badge or a sticker on the rear window....

Something like FPV by FORD or GT by FORD.

or... new wheels at least, or a new FPV only colour, maybe a new blue to signify the change.

just anything, at all.

The alternative is FPV finished and no more GT. when you think about it, it's big news for Ford actually sticking with performance vehicles when they aren't selling many FGs.

Well done I say

Its always gone down the same production line as the taxi's, but some bits were left off for Prodrive to fit. So I don't see what the difference is.

Are GTHO's any less special because they went down the same line as the Falcon 500's.
