I had some Bailie Nicol Jarvie from Dan Murphys the other day. If you know of a scotch that tastes better for $36 per bottle, please let me know.

Default Whisky lovers

I decided to get my scotch "collection" together for the whisky drinkers thread and don't think I realised how much I actually had! I'm a consumer not a collector so there's been many a bottle come and go but this is where it's at right now. No secret I love a good drop!

I put it all on top of my bar to take the pic but had to use the pano setting on the phone to get it all in! Hahaha the palate does extend beyond scotch of course

With my collection getting bigger I'm going to build a whisky cabinet using Red gum and steel painted black. Also a mate of mine picked this up for me at duty
free.

Surely there are plenty of whisky drinkers and or collectors here. What are you drinking or that have you bought for the shelf? I have one on the way I will post when it arrives.

Wouldn't class it as a collection but I have my favourites. Chivas for general, Dalwhinnie my favourite for relaxing with a cigar and Monkey Shoulder.

Think I'd pass on that then. I assume the company has a returns policy? Yes the Monkey Shoulder is a blend, the Dalwhinnie is 15year single malt, quite mild and smoky in flavour.

Yes mate the do but they also sent this jar out to me knowing it was not right. We have emailed a few times but I have had no reply since Thursday. It wasn't cheap so I will be taking this further if they don't get back to me soon.

Nice collection. wish I had a snow Phoenix in my collection. I'm slowly saving for a 26 and 30 yr old glenfiddich.

Good to hear they are refunding you, nice choice on the Balvenie. Was looking at that today along with getting a new Tullamore Dew.

Thanks for the offer. I would love a snow Phoenix but I can't spend the kind of money they are bringing in and I wouldn't ask you for a cheaper price as it will only go up in value. If I was you I would hang onto it.

Thanks again tho

I'm still waiting on the money but I'm sure i will get it back. I can't wait to try the Balvenie as I've want to try it for awhile but due to health issues I think I will be waiting a month or 2 but at least I have it ready to go. I might even try a review on it.

Whisky guru's

I have been given this, dates from the 70's apparently...

Will it still be okay to drink (it's unopended).

Should be fine, if the cork hasn't perished. Air and excessive heat are the biggest risk. Just in case the bottom of the cork has crumbled, when you open it decant it through a muslin/cotton cloth. Best way to check is to drink it!

That chipboard shelf is buckling under the weight - I would be glad to assist if you want a hand making those bottles lighter

I have the a few gold medal editions. I have not laid eyes on the double gold London-well done.
Also have a No.1 Master Distiller.

I have a Sinatra bottle and box if anyone is interested....the one I mentioned earlier in the thread, where I drank the contents.

I was in Bundaberg just last week, and pulled into the distillery to get a dozen royal liquers, as a few people I know like the stuff.
When in Rome...

I like the taste of both but won't be drinking the jack. Looking forward to the single malt tho.

I was at a hotel in Sydney a couple of weeks ago, had a huge whiskey collection. Tried Lark a Tassie brand, before serving they put the glass of whiskey under a glass dome with smoking wood chips to infuse an even smokier taste, very nice touch.
