I'd saved $1000 and asked my Dad if they could loan me $400.

His response was that "if you need to borrow, you can't afford it".

I was a bit miffed but it was pretty good advice for the times.

His other gem was "learn to be satisfied" which I actually took on board.

It's good advice and certainly less expensive than continually chasing the newest coloured baubles.

Ah yes the good old days.” These young generations don’t get it.” I’m sure those that lived thru the Great Depression or two world wars had similar comments about the future generations.

Anyways that bloody technology, the curse of all evils. I’m off in my caravan as soon as I get my MRI, Cat Scans, blood work back, then Ill cruise off in my Van that likely has more computing power and solar panels then Apollo 11. I bloody worked hard so by crikey I’m gonna get it back and spend my Super that will likely never be seen again in such large sums by many.Yeah, back in my day it was real living. These young ones are so self entitled, where the hell did they get it from

I hate apartment dweller, living in up there taking all my precious air, not paying for expensive stonework while I'm down here slaving away.

But look at the bright side. The apartment is possibly owned by a grey nomads portfolio so he can fund his righteous lifestyle. They are probably those bloody doctors he goes to that he can’t stand coz they are so young and talk all funny.

A good friend is a grey nomad. She bought a new shiny Avida nearly 3 years ago to travel.
Well she has only done just over 12000km in that time.
She can't stand the attitudes of the vast majority of nomads on the roads and in the parks.
They are rude, arrogant and extremely self centred and suspicious of a 69 year old lady by herself.

She made the decision to sell the motorhome and those who have come to look at it to buy simply complain about everything. One couple didn't like the factory green stripe and said they would think about buying it if she dropped the price $20000 because of it.
Fortunately she told them where to go.
Another bitched because the microwave was too high, the engine was likely to be stuffed and on and on.
Each and every one of them has turned up in an absolute piece of **** camper of some kind.
Today a couple turned up, ran her motorhome down for over 2 hours then offered her $3000 less than she was asking. Very weird but it is now sold!

Only 4000km a year but lucky enough to come across the 'vast majority' of nomads?

Progression of technology is irrelevant to how wealthy you are or how obnoxiously entitled you feel.

So if you want to compare your Boomers Generation, to that preceding or following yours, hows about you tell us:
  1. Which Depression you grew up in?
  2. What level of education you required to get your job?
  3. What job you were doing at 21?
  4. Where you bought your first house?
  5. How much it cost?
  6. How much of your working life has been spent unemployed?
  7. How much it cost you to get your kids a decent education?

Oh, and you want to wonder why Millennials are so spoilt and entitled?
Yeah, have a look at who their parents are!

and yes, there are those in every generation who couldn't hold onto their money if you duct taped it to their fingers. That such exist even amongst the boomers, doesn't negate the overall wealth, privilege, and prosperity of their generation.

Grey is so last year...

White beards are now the go.

I swear every second nomad has one.

I even saw a couple of men sporting them...
