It just eliminates the power steering pump and fluid reservoir, everything else is still there. 'Steer by wire' would be an interesting concept, which no doubt probably already exists, I'm suspect on regulations allowing no mechanical connection to such a critical component though. If you lose EPAS or traditional power steering you can still steer it, just without the assistance. |

From what i can see - The steering rack is re-manufactured and reversed. Seems to be mounted upside down. I'm not a mechanical engineer, so not 100% sure.
Steering column comes out of the firewall from where the AC pipes used to go... i think. AC pipes now go through the old steering column opening. It all "looks" like its been built that way. Anyway, 30,000km on, its all holding up quite well.

And an utter waste of time if they still have to provide the mechanical connection. More complexity, more to go wrong, worse steering "feel".

Just saw F-150 segment on the news, reporter asked how long to convert to RHD, the Ford Rep said about 36 hours…
That’s a long way down from Walkinshaw’s original 140 hrs down to half 60-70 hrs, OEM help is to Ford’s advantage… |

Talked to my local Ford dealer on Sunday about the new 150 and they told me I probably knew more about what’s going on with 150’s than they do! Then tried to sell me a PX3 Ranger!

Rumors are this may not be going ahead. These were meant to be converted in Australia (with various government grants involved), however Ford shifted the work to overseas.
Apparently this has caused big issues and Ford may be pulling the plug.

Or, they've started shipping new Ranger to Australia and want people to buy it in the interim via a rumour that F truck might not happen.

I didn't realise F-150 sales were going to hurt Ranger sales so much Ford Aust need to stoke the fires to keep interest in Ranger.

The work is happening here, RMA have bought a factory to do the work ffs. I've literally been to Ford dealer and press previews within the last few days and they have had RHD F series there to promote them going on sale next year |

Yearly volume is sizeable for smaller local suppliers involved, it's a great thing for local independent businesses. |

Really hope I'm wrong, but on the other hand I was one of the first to mention that the Raptor would have an Ecoboost and at the time everyone, including 'Ford people' said I was wrong.

You’re wrong.

A lot of things changed with the Yanks wanting a Ranger, the quick way was update PX3 with an I-4 EB, upgraded frame and rear discs. The inclusion of the US into the T6 program made many things happen, adding the V6 EBs was crucial. A lot of things we would take as natural, easily approved engine package took a lot of back room justification…. |

Plus the fact this is an anonymous forum where you really dont know (apart from a few exceptions - BossXR8 being one example) who really is a "Ford Person" with inside knowledge and the perspective of that knowledge (ie. someone who works in a dealer would know less than someone who works for Ford Australia).
