I remember hearing a SC EFI 304 VN a while ago, oh man that sounded mean as.

My old man's Carby 304 VL Calais sounds very tough. Needs to be louder though. :the_finge

I guess I like the sound of any V8, with a nice exhaust.

Even a stock BA XR8 sounds wicked, when opened up.

So does a LS1.

Only problem with new V8s, is you can't hear them idling. (Well stock anyway)

I saw a SV8 the other day and I swore, it sounded like a V6. :

None of the above. I had a 5.7 Stroker in my VP Commodore with a good cam. Best sounding injected V8 I've presonally owned. But there was a black AU XR8 with a serious cam in it a few summernats back. Made me go weak at the knees...

I have owned a big HP Injected 304, a 5.0 litre windsor, a 347 Windsor, numerous SB Chevs, but my Boss sounds better than all of them.

sorry if already mentioned but i reckon the thread should be best sounding STOCK fuel injected v8. in that case the BF xr8 would almost be on the bottom of my list, my old mans just doesnt have that idle you want to hear... actually it sounds odd at low revs? only when arked up does she sing

I tend to agree with you, The very first XR8 i seen and herd was just like that AD when all the cops were behind them, And they said take them for a drive on the salt lakes, And as it accelerated it sounds great, The first XR8 i seen and herd sounded 100% the same. Now some years on they don't have that same note. I have been wondering have they detuned the sound at all?.

My XR8 is the toughest sounding Falc in my neighborhood. Including a couple of carbied clevos that live near by.

Many, many Holden drivers have commented POSITIVELY about the rumble at idle, the growl in the middle and the blood curdling howl at the top end. I have the best sounding car at my local track days by a country mile. (Well, accept for the stroker 350 sb in an HQ coupe. It makes the ground shake.

Late model chevadores sound like crap, even with an aftermarket exhaust they sound woshy. Just my opinion.

I have seen two people trip over/ run into a sign as they nearly twist their head off to see whats making the guttoral sound. Its a classic.

Coppers pulled me over one night, they heard me coming from some way away, when they realised I wasn't a wippa snapper with zits their mood changed instantly. He even asked me to give her a good "free" rev so he could hear it up close. !

"They should make em all sound like that !!!!!!!!!!!!" was his thoughts as he wished me a good night. Didn't even have to blow into the bag.

If anyone has ever been to a show or carnival, and the 4 ss ute's still gen 3, have been there, you would know, that a gen 3 with the right exhaust sounds GREAT

That might be one of the best sounding LS1's out there. Some don't sound very good at all sound very quite.
Just remembered my brother going on about some VL Brock car he drove many years ago, He said was off the charts up the Westgate Bridge spinning in 3rd, This is many many years ago but.

Love the sound of the Boss in the GT.

Must admit though, that the 5.4 3 valve has a nice subdued note to it for a stocker. Could be louder, but very nice.

Holden 304 pretty mean sounding. Even the old carby 308s sound pretty neat in stock form.

F-series Turbo Diesel.

I too love the sound of the 5.4L DOHC Boss engine. I have to say its one of the sweetest sounding v8's I've heard. I've taken some videos of Brett Stevens doing burnouts in a BF XR8. Just go HERE and download the videos and you'll know what I mean!

I will go with the Holden 5-OH as i drive one every day and it is a sound you get hooked on. Cant beat the windsor either for it's odd firing order sound.

As much as I admire the Windsor, I'd have to say the Holden 5.0 sounds the biscuit.. thats why I bought one!

Best sounding V8 would have to be Craig Lownds driving first over the finish line at Bathurst in October....

Ive heard so many and I envy their grumble. 3rdly Fords 5.0L just not as loud and doesnt sound as tuff as the Holden donk but after hearing mine many will change thier mind:. 4thly LS1 their smaller predecessor kills them I reckon only a few have really caught my attention. LS2 havnt heard any with exhasuts yet.
Boss 290 easily, there is one around my way with a twin 3 inch exhaust, i have never heard an injected 8 sound so good.

thats nothing special that note, it sounds ok, but i wouldnt call it great....its actually amazing what cai can do to an exhaust note. My ls1 sounds 10x better with a k&n air charger than it did with headers and twin 2.5 on thie own....combined its killer - however it will only give you that real thunder when you plant your foot - which is the way i like it.

Yeah the LS1 sounds alright, but nothing beats the sound of the BOSS 5.4L with a nice exhaust. Have a listen to THIS . Its taken from www.v8freaks.com/forums. This is a nice sounding V8.

Bloke down the road from me has a VTII SS, With only a aftermarket twin exhaust on it, I can sit inside and spot his car going and coming sounds great.

I can do that with a number of different car going up & down my street, as each car has it own different note even if it's the same make & model.
