Why do you have to only like one kind of car?? That's just stupid.

I just don't understand the logic... If someone buys a gt40 kit car, then obviously they are an enthusiast, else they would have bought a kia rio! You guys are just being purists. And when it comes down to it, neither the ford 5.0 or the chev 5.7 are really fantastic engines. Put a Merc 6.3L in there, or a Nelson Racing Engines 427 twin turbo. Hell, even Toyota 1UZ's are a better engine IMO.

Ok.....5.0 Coyote not a good engine?...ok Both the other engines you mentioned are big bucks, tell me how much a Merc 6.3L is..you can get a coyote for less than $10kUS

LS1 are light and cheap and happen to just pass the regs to get it insured and on the road.

In saying that if I had an old school Corolla it would still have a modern Toyota engine, not a bloody SR20 et al

Hey hey don't take me out of context - I wasn't talking about the dollars side of things, was I?

If you're concerned about the costs of building a high power car like that, he could have dropped an rb30e in there with a t88z and welded the gate shut.

My point was that you die hard ford blokes get all choked up about someone putting a LSx in the car instead of a ford motor, and claiming that the bloke isn't an enthusiast. At the end of the day, neither the ford 5.0 or the gm 5.7 are ground-breaking engines, so what's there to complain about? The car is still a GT40 on the outside, and it probably moves like a GT40 should. But the bloke did it his way, and he's probably stoked with the outcome, so shame on anyone who tries to rain on his parade.

When it comes to mental kit cars by the way, have a loot at a NZ company called Silhouette - they do a 1UZ TT driven F40 replica... $35k for the complete car minus engine and box... you supply a stock 1uz and a 911 transaxle box, and for an extra 15k or something they build it into an 800bhp monster with F40 spec carbon intakes and shiz... That would be an awesome kit car...

Pretty sure you just took me out of context...you dont think a LS1 is in there because of $$$? cheap to buy, cheap to mod, cheap way of getting it on the road.

Of course the guy is an enthusiast, even minus the engine its a $60k kit car.

We obviously are not talking about the same 5.0... ...no one talks about the Windsor anymore.

lol not taking you out of context at all, and considering my post was originally responding to JimNiki's "you're a confused individual with no real passion for cars!" comment.

No doubt he went for an lsx due to the $$$ and aftermarket availability side of things. My point is that whinging about what engine he chose is just being fickle.

And as far as the 5.0.... What engine does the current gt40 come with standard? I didn't think (know) that it was the Coyote. Even if it is, considering some of the V8 offerings from other manufacturers, its hardly a ground-breaking engine.
On a related note, I am interested to know what gearbox he used in the build.

The GT(40) comes with a dry sumped supercharged 5.4 Boss, like the FPVs as of pretty much now. I wouldn't put that in my car if I had the choice of all else.
But I think it's time to get back to the fails.

Jebus didnt mean for everyone to have a go at each other... My point was if I were to spend the money and build a GT40 kit car I would at least try and keep it all ford despite the cost or difficulty with rego. Yes the chev LS motors are good bang for buck etc but the GT40 is some what of an icon and you would expect to see a ford motor in there. I wouldnt go put a ford straight 6 into a monaro because it's just not right is it.

Easy boys, this is a top thread and we don't want it closed because of some heated debate about an unrelated topic.

Well to go back to the fails then, lol...

Here's a ford/holden crossbreed that I don't think is worth sticking up for.

Surely they could have found an XC to start with.

Ok well then we can agree on that, its a mockery regardless of the talent involved. Props up the HQ coolness though.

180b/180sx. I think the concept is interesting, but not quite pulled off right.

This is how you do an oldschool nose conversion onto a modern car right:

Probably should be posting it in the Win section tho.

[QUOTE=tankclare]I would at least try and keep it all fordQUOTE]

Tankclare, I and many (most?) others feel it's proper to put a ford engine in a Ford car, a chev engine in a chev body, etc.

I'm a ford man, through and through.
I can just see the faces of my Holden buddies if I show up with a GT40 with an LSx in it! I'd seriously think about leaving the country out of embarrassment!
