When you have a big stick, there's no need to prove it or at least prove the stereotype....especially when there are track days to look forward to.. I guess it will be the same for the Raptor, a ute that is totally comfortable in day to day peak hour traffic as it is on dirt tracks.. or do we yearn for something with a snotty idle that pig roots in traffic and draws cops like flies on a turd....... At a guess I'd say normal Rangers are normal family cars/work vehicles/weekend activities car that compete with Hilux, Colorados and all the other normal utes that normal people buy for normal prices. The Raptor isn't a normal ute. Quote:
I would have most likely bought the 5.7L V8 if they still sold it in Australia. The 6.4 SRT is a beast but I wasn't looking for an SRT. Last edited by Ben73; 18-09-2018 at 09:20 PM. |

Cannot believe they went with the same old style tail lamps considering the options on the market, and no callouts high lighting the 2.0 TT engine

Scuttlebut is that increased orders for Ranger Raptor means that Ford will prioritize supply to Australia, Europe and South Africa.
Those countries will continue getting RR shod with BF Goodrich tyres while other markets may see an alternative brand until BFG can increase production... Wow, the internet was wrong, Ford actually knew what it was doing with Ranger Raptor... Last edited by jpd80; 19-09-2018 at 08:24 AM. |

Thanks for that. So looking like its not going to quite fit a kart in the back :(
I'm surprised they didn't increase the internal width given the flared guards |

I note that the rear bar hasn't been changed with the knock off. Didn't realise how different it was until looking at the standard one on the knock off vehicle. Are the hoops on the side of the raptor rear bar rated recovery points?

Flared Guards have been available for Ranger both through Ford and aftermarket.
I read a thread about prominent member on here getting the factory Guards, but then finding the oversize wheels made his Ranger illegal because the wheel track was out of spec. They pulled them off being concerned about insurance. I wonder it that's still the case with the release of the ranger raptor

I think your referring to me. Raptor no as they are built that way and the track is modified from factory there is no issue. Also ford have not offered replacement guards, only EGR flare kits which stick on to the original guards. The car pictured above has full replacement guards on front and rear.

I wonder if it has a mod plate as the offset of those wheels wouldn't be legal. |

Bonnet should be the same. I haven't check the guards yet but surely they are metal.

Seems like a dumb proposition given that the car is 42k without the plastic add ons.

It's still the same rules for XL/XLS/XLT/Wiltdtrak. You can only change the offset to +30. Anything beyond that is not legal.
I believe the Raptor retains the stock +55 offset anyway. The track change all comes from the suspension changes. |
