Not sure, but if it is sold i'd be ****ed off if i was the owner and asking why its been sitting at the end of the driveway for the past week open to whoever wants to put their grubby hands all over it and not either undergoing pre delivery or tucked away out the back until it is.
I think its a demo to be honest, colour, blue. |

Doesn't look like a great start for the Ranger Raptor

Especially this early in their availability. It was still sitting out the front on the road as of 3pm yesterday with a black wildtrack behind it. |

Especially given the increase in allocation based on customer orders that forced a situation on tyre supply where Aussie orders are prioritized with BFGs and other markets get an alternate - maybe Wranglers.. |

One of the perks for being a dealer, you get to drive a demo for three months
then sell it off with a good discount and get another new vehicle.... |

on Rebel Ford's website it's $79,999 excluding government charges...... https://www.rebelford.com.au/demo-car/list/ Zero/low km demos are supposed to cost less than ordered new vehicles, not more. |

Good thing about a halo car like Raptor is that people may pop into the dealer for a look, but then leave in a new Wildtrak
Seen a few of the new facelift Rangers around, for some reason XLT looks worse but Wildrak looks better. Wildtrak now looks like the most expensive trim, whereas previously you might of thought it was the XLT if you didn’t know the lineup |

Obviously, the V8 performance buyers think the universe revolves around them and their wants, you don't get what you want by tearing down a product that doesn't suit, you lobby for one that does. Three years time when a 3.0 EB Raptor is available it will still be wrong because it's not a V8 sedan. Quote:

I saw a blue one on the road last week in Calamvale. Not bad looking, it stood out. Not as aggressive looking as the F150 Raptor though.

https://fordforums.com.au/showpost.p...2&postcount=12 mentioned it again because now that this engine is out there and people have driven it I've noticed people commenting on how it felt like it could benefit from more capacity. I feel people, even in this age where technology is really making big ground in small capacity engines, still have old school thinking about capacity. F1 makes over 800hp from 1.6L plus a battery, for example. its like the ecoboost falcon. people got hung up on the cylinder count and lost sight of the fact it actually outperformed the 6cyl version.

So, why purchase out of state demo and pay $5,000 more for the privilege and still have to pay rego and stamp duty in your own state? Sure. there's stronger than expected demand for Ranger Raptor but i don't think that extends to checking your brain at the front counter...... a Demo is technically a used car even with zero klms, you shouldn't be paying full retail. I suspect that these vehicles are for that remote chance of a walk in buying on the spot but equally, they serve as the range topper sitting there while someone buys a Wildtrak or XLT. Im leaning towards the latter as if there was as much demand as suggested, they wouldnt still be looking for a home 2 weeks on. I wonder how many more there are out there, none of the 3 Gumtree listings are the SA cars i linked so its quite possible many more dealers have them and havent advertised them other than on their own sites. I wonder where articulatedsphynx has gone of late since they've been made available, surely he'd have received his by now, im surprised we havent been given a review and associated pics.. why would Ford be responding by building more Raptors? It doesn't make sense.... My guess is that dealers have bought stock on spec for a variety of reasons, the walk in who will see the price and get engineered discount of say $3K ;) to dealers who just want one on their lot to help promote Ranger sales to wanting one as their own demo drive car.... Like Mustang sales, I expect that there will indeed be some sales falling over and dealers will have stock on their lots...it's to be expected these days. Quote:

Certainly an expensive carrot to dangle for a small Dealer like rebels in Holden country, will need to generate 15 Wildtrack sales just to cover its costs, octobers Vfacts should see Ranger rocket to No1 atleast. Maybe, his last activity was the day they arrived in showrooms. Last edited by BENT_8; 30-09-2018 at 10:24 AM. |

Thanks for the reminder, I like that graph. Of course, the hot rodder in many of us, wonder just as the 2.3 EB can see impressive gains during a well spent dyno session, I wonder how the 2.0 Bi-Turbo can benefit? |

Also shows how well the old 3.2 does, even has slightly more torque off idle. The 2.0 has good figures higher in the rev range but you often keep a diesel below that range anyway.
I’m betting the new 3.0 pwerstroke will eventually find its way into Ranger. |

I imagine that lower range is where many will want to enhance the 2.0 with a little ECU tweaking. Probably won't take much.

I've never driven a ranger so can't comment on their gearing, but using my territory as an example, 2-3000rpm is pretty much its working range. power and torque isn't in huge demand below 2000rpm as that's generally cruising revs. above 3k is just wasting fuel.
