Would love to be there to see what happens. Having said that it's only a 'mention' which is (from what I understand) a procedural attendance and they will use that day to book their final hearing where they get their punishment.

I already asked at the court house directly and they are not allowing anyone in till the end of the month. I'm hoping the final hearing date pushes through to November where the rules may change.

People allowed in: The accused, their representation and up to 2 support persons for the accused.

Will make a call tomorrow. Everything I'm finding is about people asking for permission to leave their area or cross borders.
One of my daughters is Judge's assistant clerk in the local Magistrates' Court.

She was telling me, that most cases are now held via video conferencing, rather than in person during the lockdown.

Even with in person court appearances though, you are right, only the the accused, their representation and up to 2 support persons for the accused are allowed to attend.

At her court last week, two of the staff members tested Covid positive, so they had to close the court, all staff sent to work from home, and video cases only were heard.

Naturally, all staff including my daughter had to immediately go and get tested. Luckily, she tested negative and is double vaccinated.

It just goes to show why the courts are being so careful limiting the number of people attending courtroom cases.

One of the reasons, I now sport a number 4 on top, number 2 on the sides, buzz cut...

My wife can easily do it at home for me in 5 minutes with the electric clippers.

Saves time and money too.

It was to my great regret, that I didn’t “scalp” hairdresser bookings.

The ideal haircut, but I pay an old Greek fellow to do mine.

Because there is NOTHING else you can practically do.

I have a sense of some people (not their fault) being so tranced by the last 2 years that anything remotely risky which in reality is the only path freak out.

See you all on the other side.

Should us folk in WA worry about this Perrottet idiot, seems he's trying to prove himself as " the man" the mover and shaker, sitting in his covid free office in his nice leather throne, oops chair!

Is he really thinking straight or he is dancing to a different tune?
Why do I, all this way over in Perth, have this very ominous feeling, it won't go away, it's sunny here, top of 31°C but it feels cloudy!...

Scotty has just pegged him back a little and cited the national plan Won't be opening up to tourists yet. It'll be returning citizens and immediate family first. Then students. Then tourists. By then hopefully everyone who wants to get the jab will have had the chance to get it. Then its fair to open up.

It was quite interesting to hear Perrottet say he didn't want to "discriminate" which international arrivals can come in This guy is loose!

Its not about being freaked. Not every state had their own prime minister to give them all their vaccines. Everyone is playing catch up, so let them catch up first. NT hasn't even hit 70% first dose yet.

Trev clearly we are at different parts of our lives and I wouldn’t usually make such a direct attack the poster type post, but seeing as how you have highlighted the selfishness of sectors within the community during this whole ordeal it feels like you regularly fail to step back and consider this whole situation from any perspective but your own.

Many of the people your happy leave behind have been those working day to day and putting themselves and their families at a level of risk be it medically from infection or forced isolation for their family unit due to exposure this entire time.

Many of these people left it so late because they were undecided on the Vax and have had their hand forced by the government whether we agree with that policy or not.

Agree, people who want everyone stay locked up to stay safe have the option of continuing to lock themselves up once we open up. There is nothing stopping them doing that.

The only argument with merit is about the hospital system coping, I could nearly subscribe to the idea that if you didn't get vaccinated it is your own problem, but I cannot reconcile against my belief of personal choice and the right to universal healthcare.

We are told that with 80% the system will cope, so I accept that. What I don't accept is waiting for every state, it is not about NSW getting more shots early, that was true once but not now, it is now laziness (and misinformation from the QLD CHO). SO I have little time for the "wait for the others" brigade, when the country is 80%, go for it. If a state wants to hide, let them.

NSW Supreme Court dismisses dual challenges against COVID vaccine mandate

The NSW Supreme Court has dismissed two separate challenges for vaccine mandates for workers.

Justice Robert Beech-Jones today handed down his findings to an audience of some 40,000 people, watching a live stream on YouTube.

Each of the court challenges claims NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard could not have reasonably formed the view that each vaccine mandate was necessary.

The plaintiffs - a group of 10 people including teachers and nurses - have argued public health orders requiring them to get vaccinated before they go to work are invalid.

Hopefully NSW and ACT will be free to go everywhere soon. I'm thinking it's likely in 2 weeks time.

South Coast is gonna get wrecked by Ken Behrens coming down

I'm keen to go down not only for the drive but for a fish. It will be a new experience since the old Batemans Bay Bridge is now gone. Last time I was there was 2016 or 2017

Vic set to hit 70% next Thursday and 80% the Sunday after.

Whats the go with regional NSW at the moment? If they aren't allowing sydneysiders to enter, then its unlikely Vics will be able to drive through? Which means any road trips Melb - Syd will have to wait.

From what I understand there is no travel between Sydney and the regions but otherwise you move around as much as you like. It was postponed until Nov 1 to catch up on vac rates.

This looks like the time when there will be free movement between NSW, VIC and ACT.

I’m also holding out for some fishing on the south coast. We got to the Batemans Bay area a few weeks before lockdown and it was excellent. The new bridge is still being finished off (approach roads) but is now being used. New bridge going in at Nelligen too.

Yeah I know they are trying to to sort it out for safety but that sketchy right turn after the bridge was one of my favs after Nelligen

Just like the tight bends they wiped out when they upgraded the Kings Highway in Queanbeyan. So boring now

NSW/VIC

NSW records 321 cases in the current period and the 10-day average growth rate decreases to 0.9513 (from 0.9695) while the actual line remains above the predictive trend line and based on the 3rd order polynomial, that trend line has a downward curve.

VIC records 1,993 cases in the current period and the 10-day average growth rate increases to 1.0446 (from 1.0356) while the actual line is now below the predictive trend.

Data valid as at 00:00 GMT October 15th 2021.

Note: As not all Australian States report at the same time, the data below is based on the previous full day reporting.

2,586 new cases for Australia and 11 deaths so the CMR is 1.086%.

66 new cases and no deaths for NZ so CMR is 0.572%.

The UK had 44,212 cases yesterday and 142 deaths for a CMR of 1.655%.

96,190 new cases in the USA yesterday and 1,940 deaths sees CMR at 1.626%.

Other notable points:
Global deaths pass 4.9M, the last 50k in 7 days;

Brunei (423);
Belarus (2,073); and
Russia (32,196)

... recorded new highs; those in blue for the second consecutive day and those in red for a third or more consecutive day.

No countries move above the 90th percentile for the 10 day period while no countries drop below.

Anyone know if the utilisation rate of vaccines across each state is still being tracked? Would be interested to know if there are any "laggards".

It used to be available on the gov site, but looks like they stopped reporting it since around July.

https://www.health.gov.au/initiative...ers-statistics

Back then it was pretty much 100% across all states, indicating demand was outstripping supply everywhere.

You watch, Andrews will come out and say he is following the National plan to the letter, NSW isn't and Frydenberg rips it up Victoria

The Libs typically playing dirty politics again, they need Victoria to win the next Federal election so this is all about pumping up NSW and making Victoria the bad guys, nothing new in this, it is how they roll. Instead on focussing on health they are playing politics

Yes I know at the start they were limiting to 1a, 1b etc but it hasn't been that way for a long time

Why should my wife and I and most of my family who took the opportunity early to be vaccinated when it became available to us be held back because of some peoples laziness, attitude, bloody mindedness, lethargy - what ever?????

We all know people are only rushing forward now for 2 reasons:
1: The DELTA variant has people worried
2: People are worried they won't get in anywhere
It doesn't matter how early you booked. Readily available appointments have only been common for the past 2-3 weeks.
If every single person booked their vaccine 2 months earlier, we would be in the exact same position.
Remember when the leader of this country said vaccines are not a race? There was never much encouragement until everything went crazy in NSW in July.
Even if everyone booked AZ,many would still be waiting for 2-3 months for the second dose. Pfizer might be harder to come by, but at least it's only 3 weeks in between doses.

Another thing about AZ vaccines being readily available, it doesn't help that the media scared everyone out of the AZ vaccine early on.
I remember in the early days you would hear about every death and serious side affect caused by AZ, but hear almost nothing about problems caused by Pfizer.
That scared a lot of people out of it. So you have people who were already concerned with a rapidly produced vaccine being scared out of it even more with all the negative reports. It's no wonder we are in the current situation.

Interesting use of language, and the timing is unusual. So one needs to ask, what big news did we miss? Its all just politics and games, but unfortunately it can be seen to legitimise further unruly protests.

I reckon the 25km limit will be removed at 70%....it really is a mockery that someone from NSW can come in and pick to go wherever they want.

Is this for regional NSW? Commonwealth opened up an extra 100 GPs to administer pfizer during the sydney outbreak in the hot spot areas, and had to re-route supplies from the regionals. Which is why regionals are running "behind". There have been people from regional NSW coming out and saying their appointments were abruptly cancelled during that period.
