Out of interest where about are you in Melbourne, most shops over in the West and North still checking for covid ID especially SCA which are like Nazi's on checkpoint duty.

Must admit the mask requirements are starting to slip.

Eastern suburbs. But over the last few weeks I've been travelling to all parts of Vic, from Arrarat to Torquey to Seymour to Traralgon......its all the same. Worse compliance observed was in Geelong and Mornington This excludes dine ins, I find dining in is 100% compliant for check ins.

The only time I got "asked" to observe check in (when not dining in) was when I went into a chinese shop to pick up a roast duck. The lady took my $$$, gave me the goods, then proceeded to yell at the top of her lungs "EVERYBODY CHECK IN PLEASE".....but they never actually checked.

Seriously where are you travelling CB ?

I don’t expect my local patisserie ask to see my vax cert but they all expect you to QR and I see many doing so.
From lunch yesterday in town The Rocks with wife and another couple we frequented 5/6 places over the arvo into the Eve every single one was QR entry And proof of Vax.
I see many people doing the right thing around our world or where I frequent.
Compared to the posts I see about Melb what lack of compliance, wrong wrong wrong.

Actually FTE, I forgot one. Hoppings, Rydalmere - asked for proof of Covid vaccination - but I deflected them (I wasn’t fully vaccinated at the time, and considered a spare part to perform a trade, an essential supply).

But I don’t eat out or really socialise beyond chatting while working, all my purchasing is related to work, basic living or asset maintenance/improvement, so it kind of fits in the “essential” category. And I’ll stick with the QR plus mask in shops/common areas until we better know where the rate of bad infections is tracking - it’s my responsibility to be informed and act accordingly - I don’t need the government to hold my hand and think for me.

Looks like South Korea has a problem?

ASIA-PACIFIC NEWS
South Korea's virus surge exceeds 7,000 cases for 3rd straight day
PUBLISHED FRI, DEC 10 2021 1:30 AM EST
KEY POINTS
New coronavirus infections in South Korea exceeded 7,000 for the third consecutive day on Friday in a record-breaking surge that has crushed hospitals and threatens the country’s goals to weather the pandemic without lockdowns.
Kim said the government will also speed up the administration of booster shots by shortening the interval between the second and third vaccine injections from the current four or five months to three months starting next week.
Officials issued administrative orders requiring hospitals around the country to designate 2,000 more beds combined for Covid-19 treatment.

New coronavirus infections in South Korea exceeded 7,000 for the third consecutive day on Friday in a record-breaking surge that has crushed hospitals and threatens the country's goals to weather the pandemic without lockdowns.

Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum said during a virus meeting that the country could be forced to take "extraordinary" measures if the virus doesn't slow soon. Officials issued administrative orders requiring hospitals around the country to designate 2,000 more beds combined for Covid-19 treatment.

Kim said the government will also speed up the administration of booster shots by shortening the interval between the second and third vaccine injections from the current four or five months to three months starting next week.

Around 41.5 million people, or 81% of the population of over 51 million, have been fully vaccinated, but only 10% have received booster shots.

The delta-driven spread in recent weeks has been accompanied by a spike in hospitalizations and deaths, many among people in their 60s or older whose immunities have waned after being inoculated early in the vaccine rollout that began in February.

Officials tightened restrictions starting Monday, banning private social gatherings of seven or more people in the greater capital area and requiring adults to verify their vaccination status at restaurants and other indoor venues. But Kim said such measures haven't yet showed an effect in slowing transmissions

"If it becomes clear that we aren't succeeding in reversing this crisis situation within the next few days, the government will have no other choice but to employ extraordinary anti-virus measures, including strong social distancing," said Kim, South Korea's No. 2 behind President Moon Jae-in.

Deputy Health Minister Lee Ki-il said officials may further reduce the limit on social gatherings and restore business-hour restrictions at restaurants and bars that were lifted in November if things continue to look bad next week.

"We will try our best to avoid a lockdown," Lee said during a briefing.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said around 5,300 of the 7,022 new cases reported Friday were from capital Seoul and the nearby metropolitan area, where the virus has hit hardest. The country's death toll is now at 4,130 after 53 virus patients died in the past 24 hours, while 852 others were in serious or critical conditions.

South Korea has also tightened its borders to fend off the new omicron variant since identifying its first cases last week that were linked to arrivals from Nigeria. The KDCA said health workers confirmed three more omicron infections on Friday, bringing the tally to 63.

Scientists say it's not yet clear whether omicron is more contagious or dangerous than previous strains of the virus.

24 people tested positive? Did this venue require vaccine passports?

I don't know why the media keeps harping on about the nightclub cluster. We already know these "clusters" will happen once we had opened up. Then the footage they keep flashing up shows patrons mainly of a certain background. Not sure what they are trying to tell us?

Also just caught news that the "millions" march was still going on at the weekend. Gosh, starting to really feel sorry for the kids made to go. Having been locked up for 18 months, was a beautiful weekend, and rather than spending it at the beach, their parents locked them in at a protest.

The "kill the bill" petition has notched up 127k signatures. Apparently the silent majority has spoken....

To add a little more, it did not show the venue, it showed the headline banner, I was not really interested as I was checking my cat for "ticks and other sundry bindi type material"

I do not like writing big long posts and using up all of Russell's bandwidth, that equals mucho dollero to him, but earlier today in this thread in 17232 I made a long post, one I thought was important!

no worries we feel the same.

We lead diff lives, we're out quite a bit of late and we're so happy to comply and glad we're seeing many business's operate as such.
Be interesting IF some of the business's will slack off to patrons who turn up without having a Vax cert to show in the coming weeks.
Hope not.

Data valid as at 00:00 GMT December 12th 2021.

Note: As not all Australian States report at the same time, the data below is based on the previous full day reporting.

1,548 new cases for Australia and 4 deaths so the CMR is 0.919%.

103 new cases for NZ and no deaths so CMR is 0.357%.

The UK had 48,071 cases yesterday and 52 deaths for a CMR of 1.353%.

57,441 new cases in the USA yesterday and 446 deaths sees CMR at 1.611%.

Other notable points: (weekend reporting)

Global cases pass 270M, the last 1M in 2 days;
Africa passes the 90th percentile over the 10-day period;
Russia passes 10M cases;
Africa passes 9M cases;

Only
South Africa (37,875)

.... recorded new highs; those in blue for the second consecutive day and those in red for a third or more consecutive day.

No countries move above the 90th percentile for the 10 day period and none drop below.

So our Premier Mark McGowan decides to watch and wait before WA opens its borders?
Seems he is worried?.....I would be too if I was him, what happens when we run out of minerals or ore to dig up and sell to our ever diminishing overseas buyers?

So he chose 5th February 2022 as the "date" wow he's actually made a decision, the aboulomania is gone, replaced by a shaky and very nervous confidence, one usually experienced before being shot by a firing squad!.......

PS - most or all of you will of never heard the term "aboulomania" don't feel embarrassed to look it up, my GP had never heard of it!

So Victoria is going to be the home of Moderna's new production facility to produce a Covid vaccine!...and ScoMo had his big buffy head in there on my TV screen, think that's why I wanted to vomit all over my cat, it was on my lap, everytime I choke on my cup of tea it's always when I am watching politicians talking " left handed" and watching them kiss babies is the ultimate turn off!...
