NSW records a much higher 804 cases in the current period and the 10-day average growth rate increases to 1.1235 (from 1.0699) while the actual line moves just above the predictive trend line.

Week 22 in Victoria ended today with 119,997 cases to date compared to 20,147 at the same point of the 2020 outbreak and 74,794 for the NSW 2021 outbreak. Weekly case numbers see Victoria with just over 5x more cases than NSW last week and overall case numbers for Victoria are up by 97 on last week. Note that we are comparing historical data for NSW with current data for Victoria as NSW is about 3.5 weeks ahead.

The current fortnight of UK data for cases and elapsed mortalities has finished.

There were 623,106 cases in the period to 27/11 and 1,715 deaths between 29/11 and 12/12 for a CMR of 0.275% which is a lot lower than the previous period which was 0.371%. Case numbers, however, are up by 72k (13%) over the previous period so there will be some flow on.

Thus, in the 135 days since 'freedom day' they have totalled 4,628,857 cases and 16,856 deaths for an overall CMR of 0.364% which is below the 0.378% at day 120.

Here it is graphed - note that the base column at the end is the 2 week period prior to freedom day.





To put that into an Australian perspective:
If we had similar CMR and case rates to the UK we'd have about 13M cases and 47.3k deaths per annum.

Had AZ 3 months ago then 2nd last week touch wood no side effects that I’ve noticed,probably wont be lining up for no 3 if I don’t have to

they say immunity starts declining at 6 months (which for me is today) and qld borders have just opened so it seemed like the sensible decision to get a booster. qld is about to get ****ed up i think.

But here i am at 2am, can't sleep, have a fever and my lymph nodes are all swollen again.

The nurse was quite young and didn't have much skill with a needle, she really kamikazied it in there so my arm is basically a useless appendage at this point!

My only side effect was insomnia, from both Pfizer shots, should of got em in your bum, I demanded both times that it was derriere only, my GP agreed, gluteus is the best place, it's just quicker and easier in the arm, sadly less muscle as we age.......

QR Check-in’s for NSW still work as before, in case anyone was wondering. Mask wearing in the Asquith-Pennant Hills area seemed up today. Perhaps a response to the case load.

the reaction from the first two were relatively mild but this is pretty intense, i'm not sure if i can manage to even shower today. i don't think it's a vaccine-specific thing as all of them have the potential for side effects, it's just that the universe hates me and this is my luck across the board really.

has anyone else had a 6 month booster? have you experienced the same thing?

The way I read that is that as they tested negative before and upon entering WA they must have caught it whilst in WA.

Possibly from people running around WA with a 'cold' but not been tested?

A doctor I know, had hers almost soon as the program was ratified. She (late ‘60s) felt pretty average and took an afternoon off, plus the following morning.

My mum got her booster shot last week. Her first two shots were AZ, this one was Pfizer.

Whilst she's not experiencing the effects you are, leesa, her arm was a lot sorer with the third shot than it was with the first two. She basically had no side effects from the first two shots.

Talking to a few others who have also had their 3rd shot, mum found that was a pretty common observation.

Two people I work with have had their boosters. Both felt pretty ordinary

My bro in law had his Moderna booster in the US. Lethargy, chills and aches were the side effects for a couple of days.

Since we last looked at the case numbers globally (a bit over 4 weeks ago) there have been 19M cases (+7.3%) and 264.5k deaths (+5.0%) which would suggest that the case mortality rate is on the decline. Indeed, the global average has dropped from 2.021% to 1.964% which is a good sign.

It's not been universally good though.

To digress for a moment. Yesterday was roughly day 654 of the pandemic so the 37 days since we last looked at the data is 5.7% of the total so the case growth rate is still above the average growth rate.

Due to the 'simplification' of NT Border Entry rules that come into effect on the 20th December, my employer (an others) will now have to fly me and the rest of the crew into Darwin two weeks prior to our joining ship, they will then have to fork out for CBD Hotel accommodation and expenses for the 14 days + 14 extra days wages...this now makes our swing away 7 weeks long instead of 5 with only 3 weeks at home before heading back to work lol.

It was way simpler and cheaper for my employer BEFORE 'simplification'

On the plus side we will have freedom of movement for the the 14 days as long as we stay in the Greater Darwin area, no Howard Springs.

Border restrictions change from 20 December 2021.

Anyone who is fully vaccinated can enter the Northern Territory without having to quarantine.

You must:

1. Complete a Border Entry Form before arriving in the NT

2. Have a negative PCR test up to 72 hours before arriving in the NT and be able to show proof of the result on arrival

3. Have a PCR test within 72 hours after arriving in the NT

4. Have a PCR Day test on Day 6 after arriving in the NT

5. Stay within an approved high vaccination zone for 14 days.

6. Alice Springs, Katherine and Greater Darwin are approved high vaccination zones.

7. Use the G2G Now app and stay in a location that has reliable access to 4G internet connection.

What a hassle! If the NT government insist on absolutely knowing where you are at all times in this period, I hope they have the decency to deliver three squares daily, including fish & chips on Fridays.

With NSW’s rampant surge in cases, I can’t help feel it’s only a matter of time before SA and TAS pull up the drawbridge again.
