I think this image/angle best shows the proportions, also the correct location of the Ford badge.

I did try the badge on the bumper...but I wasn't sure about it.

I do wonder if the XR's will get the dimples under the headlight, or will the DRL's be the token XR quad style for the FU? Such a shame that it will be last either way, Ford still has the passion and I think it will show in the FU, just the fact that they are doing a facelift for a terminal model says a lot...

No amount of added on gizmos will let a VF sedan carry a new front door from Bunnings to home - with the boot closed, nor will a VF do 500km for $50 of fuel. My FG G6E EcoLPI does it easily. It is a car for driving, not for sitting in the garage playing with gadgets.

I am really looking forward the last iteration of along line and I don't care if it is FG3, FH or FZ. I really like the work from Nikked and the pics and hints from spyman03 etc. I will be in the queue come May 2015.

I don't need or want keyless entry. If it is provided I would prefer it as a 'delete-able' option. Same for heated seats - not requested and not required. These are the sorts of add-ons that when they fail (as all tech will eventually) make life difficult. Can you imagine a few years from now when your heated seats switch themselves on around noon on a balmy 40 degree day?

"Techy" features doesn't mean you'll be spending hours in the garage fiddling with them, unless you're talking about bluetooth audio or USB/iPod connectivity. A lot of time could be wasted there.

However, if the FH comes out with other "techy" features that don't require extra input from the driver (like blind spot alert, lane change sensors, auto headlights/wipers/dimming & dipping mirrors, folding mirrors etc), then surely that's gotta be a good thing!

Features that make operating the car easier make it nicer to live with. I'm just waiting for the automatic vacuum cleaner that will scour the foot-wells for dirt every time passengers exit, with only a canister that occasionally needs emptying. Now wouldn't that be easy - a self cleaning car :-)

as far as the XR lights go

I read somewhere recently they are using curved lines DRL's at the bottom of the headlights to mimic that quad eye shape.

sounds pretty cool if you ask me.

If ford australia is "allowed" to do a decent amount of marketing into this new falcon, they may get exciting interest.

they should be trying to target families a whole lot more, they need to remind people about its history. like a timeline of its past and focus on pulling those customers that tend to look elsewhere.

I suppose they have to though. because if they don't i doubt they'll get much interest in the model replacing this in a few years time. they have to keep the ball rolling.

and not just do a quiet release. which would be the dumbest move ever.

I read that also, and I think that headlight evolution would have happened even if this wasn't the last Falcon.

End of the day sedans are unwanted in this country; look at the Mazda 6 for example and its only selling 500 a month, so in reality that is basically the best private sales you are going to get from any sedan.
If its not a hatchback, SUV or ute its just not in flavour at the moment.
Ford will get better success from advertising the hell out of the Territory, because that gets more full price paying customers than a Falcon.

Through Facebook, my local dealer is promoting the mustang. They don't put anything up about the 2014 falcon. Granted, it's not out yet, but neither is the mustang. I get the feeling that they couldn't care less about an end of life model and are only interested in flogging the mustang. Disappointing really.

Im sure it will. But Mustangs not here yet. FG2 is here, 2014 will be here soon. So maybe they should promote cars they can sell now, rather than cars they can sell in a few years.

They will if it's priced reasonably. Low - mid forties and they will walk out the door. No reason why they can't be as successful as say, the 86 etc.

It's all about the street cred and the bigger picture.

Having the Mustang in the line up will still help sell Fiesta, Focus etc. People like to be associated with buying something that has a Halo car in its line up even if they don't buy that actual car.

Don't underestimate the power of the name - Mustang.

Forget that 2001 overpriced debacle. This thing should sell at half that price. This is a much different proposition.

Why not ? Admittedly 2 doors is not as pragmatic as 4, however IF it is priced right (ie XR8 / SS) - bearing in mind the "Base" GT 5.0 V8 sells in the US for US$32K and the GT "Premium" $36K, why would an iconic sports car with real grunt and handling not sell ?

The new S550 5.0 (naturally aspirated) will also gain a big performance improvement over the current 420 Hp (313 Kw) 529Nm engine - probably slightly higher than the Boss302 with around 450 Hp (335Kw) - and a sweet 7K redline.

Having said that, I would still prefer the impending XR8 - with the right engine, Drive-train and Brake package - at the right price.

Hopefully the EB4 base model will be no more then 40k here, need to be able to tap some of the GT86 market...a base V8 hopefully 45K, and top range 55K?

This. I've driven a couple of cars with them and I agree this is a luxury that's very, very cool, pardon the pun. With Australia being sooo HOT I would have thought one of the manufacturers would have been on to this already, go figure ?

I'm not bagging it, I just don't think there's a big market for it. Performance coupes are not exactly a big slice of our market.

THIS

And this is the MUSTANG we are talking about. An international ICON.

Priced appropriately, I can see it selling very well. I have never bought a new car. I intend on buying one.

86 didn't sell Falcon numbers, Falcon sold 86 numbers. Chances are the base Mustang will retail for ~10 grand more than the base 86, I can't see it setting sales charts on fire.

No doubt it will have that horribly ugly drain mouth that is Ford Global's current look.

Spoke with many in the car buying market who were turned off from Ford's "obsession" with drain/oversize front air dams. Looks like a giant mouth.

By contrast, other makers (like European) have larger grilles but I think incorporate it better.

Keen to see the FH final product though as I am interested in purchasing.

I suppose they have to though. because if they don't i doubt they'll get much interest in the model replacing this in a few years time. they have to keep the ball rolling.

and not just do a quiet release. which would be the dumbest move ever.
I'm expecting to see no advertising at all. Ford seem determined to get sales low enough to pull the plug as soon as possible, to stop losing money. The quicker they can get out, the cheaper it will be. Advertising and trying to sell them goes against what they want. If it wasn't for the government funding that has gone into the 201X they would probably be gone already.
