I have a 2008 MA TDCi and so far the fuel pump has failed (under warranty, luckily), the airbags failed to deploy in a collision because they were in an error state(!) and the steering pump developed such a whine and vibration that it was deafening. I had that replaced with a reco unit 6 months ago and it's now doing the same thing,.
Thing is, I really like it as a family car.

With regards to the airbag issue, was there an airbag warning displayed before the accident? Gives food for thought. Last year I drove home to Goulburn NSW from near Coober Pedy SA with my airbag light on in my Triton. Same thoughts running through my head, would the airbags go off if there was an accident?? Turned out to be a glitch in one of the seat belt pre-tensioner squibs which, when reset, never surfaced again. I went through the fuel pump replacement thing years ago on my diesel Terracan, thankfully under warranty. Not a pleasant experience mainly due to the dealer taking shortcuts and trying to bodgy repairs initially.

I'll be talking to the mechanic about it, that's for sure.

The only problem I've had in two years on my 2012 TDCi Titanium is the DPF and a hopeless Ford dealer. The problem ended up being only a dodgy fuel injector in the DPF unit. All I knew was the engine warning light kept coming on after about 2 hours driving. It was finally fixed by a dealer in Brisbane under warranty after my local Ford dealer refused to fix it.
I just got it serviced last week and I now take it to a diesel mechanic as I refuse to take it back to the local dealer. |

Sorry but this doesn't surprise me at all. I would probably do the same.

May I ask which dealer in Brisbane? I ask only because my Mondeo is absolutely fantastic (touch wood) and the only problems I have had are dealer related.

The car would run OK, just the engine warning light kept coming on and that annoyed the crap out of me. My dealer just kept saying don't worry about it as is only a soft code error but my argument was what if it isn't next time and it is ignored? Anyway, an error is an error so fix it.

They have been really good though.

The pump is not the problem. The issue of the whine originates from a manufacturing fault in the rack seals break down and clog the filter built in to the reservoir bottle.
When the pump try's to draw fluid during turning it struggles from the blocked flow. I'm currently repairing my mothers 08 MA petrol. It's a nightmare. The only way to fix it properly is rack pump and reservoir. |

Hi Mike you'll be better off making your own thread about the key fob programming. This thread is more so over all issues with Mondeos.

I think you need a couple of replies before you can start a new thread (prevents board spam)

Just came across the first problem with my Mondeo, 2010 MB Zetec.
Rear passenger door remains locked when the rest of the doors are unlocked, but can be opened from inside, and is then unlocked when the other doors are locked. Any one had this before, and is it an easy fix? thanks. |

My company MC did it. it was the actuator and it was repaired under warranty but it only took them an hour or so once the part came in.

I've had a few occasions where my front passenger door couldn't be opened from outside after unlocking the car, but each time it's been fixed by locking and then unlocking the car again. I suspect the mechanism is just sticking since it's only occurred intermittently (and I think I saw the lock toggle in a position not-quite unlocked). Alternative explanations are a short or break in the circuit or an actuator that's failing, but it hasn't been doing it recently.
In the case where it happens all the time, it does sound more like an actuator or electrical failure isolated to one door. |

car went in for the 75,000 service today, mentioned the lock problem.
Actuator needs replacing - quoted $800! Um, no thanks. Will try & pick one up of eBay. |

I have a MD Mondeo with a electrical gremlin. Its going into ford on Monday. It has 3000kms on it and i noticed the drivers spot light on one morning when i stopped on a job site to quickly unlock a padlock kicked it and it went out. this arvo got home turned it off and the drivers side parkers were on and refused to go out. I took it for a drive and came back and they went out. Any one else had a issue like this. I will post the outcome once ford have a look.

After 8500km my MD Mondeo has been as perfect as a car can be. (I know could be tempting fate with a statement like this.) |

Front and rear? I'm assuming the MD has the same one-side parking lights feature as the preceding model. How sure are you that you didn't leave the indicator stalk in the right-hand turn position? It's caught me out and made me very confused before I realised I'd activated the feature. |

I may have left the blinker on actually and yes front and rear. That makes sense that once I took it around the block it was fine.
The fog/spot lights below the head lights in the lower portion of the bumper. That definitely is a wire/connection issue. Its happened twice and I tap the light and it goes out. Thanks for the advise ! |

Nothing on mine. Steering wheel is still in perfect condition. Are you talking about the plastic silver trim on the wheel where the buttons are? I think that had been an issue on the MA-MC series.

My passenger side front seat belt alarm kept going off.
Turned out to be a fault in the seat base stitching on one of the joins in the leather. It was permanently pressing on the sensor. Sensor and seat trim replaced under warranty. Factory applied paint was peeling off the plastic on the drivers side skirt in the door jam area. New skirt with correct paint match installed under warranty.
