Why disgusted? Drove a 6cyl pov pack in the states and it was no worse than an FG xr6 or SV6 commodore. The ecoboost seems similar in power output. In fact the Mustang V6 felt more like a VF SV6 in steering (electric power steering) and power delivery.

Just to confirm the breathless anemic mess of a car we are talking about is the one that's as 'slow' as the first xr6-t right?

And the one the people have got into the 11s with minor mods, just like said xr6-t?

First xr6t was released 14 years ago and costs $15k less than the wheezer mustang. Huge progress made.

Go and drive one. You will be disappointed for your $55k spend to get one

apparently intercooler, exhaust, tune & tyres. Definitely claimed to use the stock turbo & internals.

*edit: Apparently some special fuel additive too. Could easily run water injection instead of "race-gas-additive" though

Quote:
Modifications to the car are minimal and consist of an upgraded intercooler, downpipe, intake, and a COBB Accessport V3 utilizing a TUNE+ Protune for 93 Octane w/ RGA (Race Gas Additive). Getting the power to the ground is a set of 19×10 SVE wheels with Nitto NT05R Drag Radials. That’s it. Stock suspension, stock transmission, and no Jenny Craig (weight reduction).

Race gas additive? Lol. In other words that tune is super aggressive and running too much boost. Also drag tyres.

Any car can be made to be fast if you sacrifice reliability.

But in stock form that you buy it from ford and if you are sensible and want to retain the warranty, the mustang 2.3 turbo is a very very underwhelming machine.

Drove a FG G6E EcoBoost yesterday, today and will again tomorrow, do you think I give a toss what anyone thinks about my 4 banger?
I don't think anyone who buys a EcoBoost Mustang will either!

A flat 14 sec 400m sprint is not exactly slow. That's the same as a Boss 5.4 FPV GT of a few years ago.

So now the "lesser" model 4 cylinder Mustang is as quick as the "top of the tree FPV GT" was a few years ago.

Oh the disappointment of it all.

Looking down your nose at a 4cly mustang is the equivalent of looking down the nose of anybody buying a 6 cylinder falcon really, isn't it?

Problem is the eco boost mustang is quicker over the 1/4 the than the GT legend. So how bad can it be.

I'm sure the 4 pot Mustang second hand prices will be in the toilet as everyone wants the V8.

That's when I buy the new daily to punt around town in.... do I need the extra performance of the V8 while driving to work at 30km/h on the M4.

Toy Mustangs will be the new XA-E Barra swaps of 10 years from now. No-one will want them and they'll be viable candidates for I6-T transplants.

Lucky we are all different isn't it or the world would be a bloody boring place. But in the same breath if we have an opinion we don't necessarily need to try and convert others to the same way of thinking. We have a subjective observation of test driving a car. Fair enough. But some of the bows being drawn from that test drive are a bit long.

The worlds changing. Not everyone believes anymore that rumble and capacity are a REQUIREMENT for a car like this. Maybe the Mustang of yesterday but this isn't then.

The Mustang mystique is strong on a forum of enthusiasts. Not so much for the younger generation. Many will just see a good looking car that's subtle but quick. Not everyone needs an ego extension under the bonnet. Not everyone needs to be the fastest. It'll sell. But not to many here. But we are a shrinking population these days when people barely give a damn about their cars. They're just transport to many. And believe it or not not everyone WANTS a V8 and has a preconception that a Mustang needs one . True story!

I think if you look at the practicability of a mustang to falcon is no where near for the Aussie family market it was supposed to replace the falcon but has done complete opposite it's more of a single or bloke going thru mid life crisis really

I hope everybody hates them beyond measure. I hope *everybody* gets all emotional "Needs a V8" "Doesn't sound right" "Four cylinders suck". I hope you all think they're ugly as sin. I hope Holden bring out the Corvette for under $60k. I hope there's *just* enough aftermarket support that people know what can be done, but nobody really does it.

I hope all this, so that the resale value plummets and I can get one cheap

Actually the supercharged 5.0 was at home. I rolled up in a ford territory. The mustang didn't feel any more sporty. It's a beautiful looking car but just a huge cup of wrong with the 2.3 turbo. Like driving a v6 commodore with a big hairy HSV body kit on it. It feels empty as You just know your a fake.

Oh and by the way the supercharged 5.0 fgx xr8 is cheaper to buy than the 2.3 mustang, in all fairness they should be compared.

Mustang has never been touted as a falcon replacement.

Umm not really.. The 5.4 boss sounded glorious at full noise and only ran a flat 14 because it never had no traction. The 5.4 boss290 is an outstanding cruiser, pure muscle car and a very emotive drive. You walk away feeling it's special.

The 2.3 turbo mustang is short on poke, has some big tyres on it standard and sounds like a VW. The mustang is supposed to be a muscle car. You don't walk away from the 2.3 mustang too impressed. It's a "show pony only"

Not quite sure how you can compare a V8 Supercharged four door family car with a 4cyl two door sports car
