In my experience the recommended inflation pressures from Ford are on the very low side (on my Zetec's 17s I run on at least 40PSI), I don't think it will make a dramatic difference but it will make a small difference to your economy (at the expense of ride comfort/noise)

Focus 2.0 Titanium - 2000km to date. Commute 25km/day in Bangkok (slow) traffic. Averaging 12.2 litres/100km using 95 fuel and rising. Not impressed. Ford say it's normal. Judging by what others are getting it's far from normal.

I have an 09 LV LX 2.0 Duratec Auto and love the power, it was a surprise actually how much get up and go it has and the handling WOW!. After 2 months I really like this car and quite often choose it over my turbo Subaru Wagon.
The fuel consumption is pretty high though, averaging 13.3 around town on 98 Octane. I The Forester has half again more power but does not use that much more fuel. |

I have just done a bit over 4k Melbourne-Brisbane return in my LW-purchased August 2012. Running tyres at 33psi, 95 and 98 octane petrol auto. Current kilos-16k+. Trip litres per 100 was 6.1 - 6.3. No problems at all. There must be a lot of good cars out there and I hope mine is one of them.

You guys may find this interesting .. I posted it in another thread.
3 years / 35000km worth of 2009 Focus LV 2L Auto fuel consumption data from RoadTrip app: 91 RON w Et... is e10 from Woolworths/Caltex or Shell (supposedly 94 octane) 95 E was United Petroleum "Plus ULP" which is 95 Octane with Ethanol. I think I ran 6 tanks of this. 95 and 98 RON are as described. Other than the 95 E and 91 there is over 5000km of driving on each fuel. There's not much point in running 98 RON in this engine - the fuel consumption doesn't reduce enough for the extra money you spend. |

Hi, just picked up a focus zetec, and average consumption on drive back was 7.5l/100km. It's not new, 07 with 63k on it. But better than 14.6with the falcon!

LW Focus seems to have much better real-world economy than the Cruze SRI-v... On test, the Holden has been known to use 12-14L/100km. That's approaching double what the Focus uses!

The Cruze is a tiny 1.4 so you probably have to ring its neck to make it go anywhere thus using more fuel

Apparently goes pretty well, and gets some pretty good overall reviews. Some websites report good economy (9L/100 on test) whereas others report high fuel usage in relatively sedate conditions (have seen the websites but can't seem to relocate them - one was a comparison between 4-5 hatches including the Focus)

2013 Focus Titanium Sedan 2.0
Still stuck at 12 ltrs/100km. It's going in for its first service in 3 weeks' time. I'll have them look at it. Can't be right. Driving mostly in heavy traffic, but not horrendous, and no heavy right foot. Thoughts anyone? |

2012 Focus Sport auto 4,500 Klm
Just returned from a trip from Melbourne to Canberra filled up with 95 Ron in Melbourne, arrived in Canberra and still had enough for another 125 Klm ( according to the Trip Computer) average consumption 6.3 very happy with that. Not so happy however with the intermittent grinding noise from the transmission, just got back from the dealer who installed a software upgrade, according to them that should fix it, if not its a new transmission, apparently this is an ongoing problem with these gearboxes. |

Was referencing the previous model to the 1.6. But yes ok that too
FYI http://www.carsguide.com.au/news-and...ries_ii_review Anyway. 7.2 on the bris-syd trip is pretty good. Ill have an update on my Melb-Albury trip by the end of the wkend 6.3 in the sport. I'd be damn happy with that one too!!
