Well in Victoria about $1600-1700 will be stamp duty.
Plus Rego around $700, including plates.
I'm guessing the rest is 'Dealer Delivery'

Here we go, the small print:
Quote:
*The estimated drive away price is based on a vehicle being garaged in the postcode listed and on the owner being a 'rating one' driver aged 40 with a good driving record. The estimated drive away price includes 12 months registration, 12 months compulsory third party insurance (CTP), an estimated Dealer delivery charge, stamp duty and other applicable statutory charges. Your actual drive away price may differ depending on your individual circumstances or choice of insurer. Statutory charges are current as at September 2015. ^Factory option prices are recommended and are displayed as Manufacturer List Price (MLP). Estimated drive away prices cannot be calculated until all options are selected. Refer to summary page for estimated drive away price. Every effort has been made to accurately depict colours on this site. Due to differences in computer equipment, some variations may occur. See your authorised Ford Dealer to view the actual colours. ¹Fitted RRP (including GST) for Dealer fitted accessory at participating dealers. Based on RRP for accessory, standard labour time and recommended hourly labour rate.

Are you trying to say because the "on road" costs are a few k on top of the $50k that predictions of $60 and even $70k are closer to the mark?

As I said before, I have no interest in buying one, but it is (very close to) $50k, albeit not on the road at this point in time. That price may well come down once the initial hype/rush is over.

It still looks like an excellent price as is, and I like how Ford is not going silly on the number/price of the options, unlike VW and all the rest.

Im still find ing it hard to justify the $4399 ORC. Sure there is stamp duty and rego, but that's only half if it. Does the rest just go into the DP's pocket? Can someone explain how this works?

Nope not at all. I'm saying that you won't get one for 50k. Also as for the hype dying off I doubt it if what I've heard is correct re number coming to OZ I can see MK2 RS all over again. Regardless its priced very well IMO and ford have stuck to the RS mantra affordable fast cars, thats what they have always been.

I just dug out the invoice for my ST (QLD) dealer delivery was 1360 and stamp duty 1167

It will be a regular production model and not a limited build though, so I can't see availability being a problem.

Whilst im aware of that the few people i have spoken to are saying each dealer will be lucky to get 2 is more my point. But that could be much like when the LW St was released only 400 came into the country now its no issue. But the RS being a more niche car may still be limited numbers after that.

Whilst it is meant to be a normal production car, I think it'll have the same fate as the 86 did.

Good price point, but due to popularity will have a few years of retard pricing.

As it's such a long wait (even still), we could have pre ordered options, surely, didn't Ford do any market research here

Being fitted with Michelin Super Sports (+ optional Michelin Cup) tyres means this thing is going to produce good numbers when the magazines start testing it.
I predict a future BFYB & Hot Tuner winner!

Very sharp pricing, definitely want one of these things. Nitrous or Shadow Black would be my pick but I prefer the green from the last model personally.

I wonder how many sales VW and Subaru are going to give up to this assuming Ford can get the supply. I know Subaru have no issues with supply, Aus are second pick after Japan last I knew.

Cars haven't been loaded into Era Net yet by Ford, but any salesperson cluey enough to reverse engineer another models worksheet with different MLP costs can tell you a driveaway figure.

Any semi respecable sales person should be able to work that out with some paper and a pen, They won't be limiting he volume of the cars, but the supply will be limited to dealer allocation, so if your order is with a dealer with stacks of orders, your car takes longer to come than the dealer with no orders.
