Guys and Gals
This thread is getting a little off-topic. Let's keep the politics and conspiracy theories out of it and keep the thread a little light-hearted and reminisce about the ol' times through some rose coloured glasses. |

Last I saw, it was a change with registering a trailer. Now someone called Marjorie has raised the price of a Chomp from 20c? Yeah, different topic.

…When somebody would have the fortitude to discreetly suggest you check and adjust your “dress”, as old school modesty would phrase it - rather than just let you wander around for hours in public with your zipper down.
d-l-o-r-w Or something. |

And then you bring politics into it, it starts to go sour. My Admin lady likes sour candy.

We put a Lolly jar at the entrance to the office, and filled it with Warheads and worse. Strangely, it got emptied.

Remember when people had good manners. when driving on the road and other drivers would never give you the finger out the window.
Good manners are free, so is a little respect on the road. |

Remember when you could drive down a suburban back street and pass an oncoming car without you or the other driver having to pull in between parked cars.

Remember when you could open the old red lanterns (the predecessors to the orange flashing lights) that they used to hang on the barriers at road works sites and take the small oil burner candle out of them.

Yes. I reckon you are correct..(20 cent refund) because we used to take 5 bottles each to the shop, and get 50 cent of hot chips and use the change to play space invaders...

Me to. The last Trading Post paper that I purchased turned out to be a total winner. I used to flip cars (buy and sell) and was transforming a Silver 1985 VK 4.9 Litre 4 speed into a Brock SS replica. The car I bought in Ballarat for $3400. It had LPG, 15 Inch Aero wheels, SS side stripes and a cerulean colour interior. I went to the locally cafe and grabbed a cup of java and sat out the front reading the spare parts section. Well bugger me, there it was, listed... the exact parts I needed to finish the cosmetic side of the Brocky transformation. The parts were: 2 Scheel seats $1000 2 headlight rubber surrounds $100 Eurovox joystick radio $250 Single speaker rear parcel shelf $75 Front lower lip spoiler $180 Front Billstein big bore shocks $150 27mm front sway bar $120 Man I was so broke after seeing that guy.. but so glad that he had what I wanted. Ended up selling it. After all was said and done, plus 2 months of solid work. That translated into 11500 gorillas. The final result was spot on. T5 5 speed, factory SS baffled sump, HEI Dizzy, 10 bolt LSD, Correct intake manifold, LPG removed, rear deck lid spoiler and gas strut installed to keep boot lid open, correct trim ($250 per metre, need 3 metres), SS grill and decal, Momo 270mm steering wheel and signed horn pad (Peter Brock), basically, the guy that bought it actually owned an original VK SS. I caught up with him a few weeks later by chance, and he told me that it drives better than his original SS. That made me feel pretty good.

Hi Guys,
The guys around my age or a little younger will remember when you could go in an Auto shop or Spare Parts at a Car dealer and say "my head light not working" and they would give you a sealed beam headlight. The same for the rear lights if you broke the cover of the stop light they would just give another one. Those days are gone now you have to buy the whole unit. |

Nothing is R&R today.
Mind you some parts are cheaper to buy compared to 30yrs ago. Trouble is modern is modern - lights due to sensors, lane warning and LED - complete correct. My bros stupid Jeep Cherokee clipped a roo, $1800 headlight replacement haha Windscreens worse with the demisters and sensors. How it is Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
