The windsor is a nice sounding motor, good low end torque (luxurious feel) but has absolutely nothing up top. If it was a girl it would be big bum and ironing board for a chest.

a b series GT with the boss 5.4 can nudge 300rwkw with cams and 400rwkw forced induction. A windsor would split into two trying to push out those numbers. Ba GT is like a girl that wears a size 6 shorts and a big booming dd top.

Just watch the b series GT be the one to own in the future. You cobra owners had better lock em up.

But your either an *** man or boob man, I prefer an "big ***" when it comes to what she has under the hood.

Though I like boobs when it comes to Honda's.

B Series GT or GTP is best performance car buy for mid 20k imo.
Yes the like a drink at the pump but few cars will put an involuntary smile on you face as you reach for the starter button. Put the Boss 290 into perspective the only quad cam V8 you could buy in 2003/4/5 which went as hard in standard form was european and if you think a Boss is an expensive proposition to maintain, try to justify 5k plus running costs on you AMG, M series or S4/6 that $ is before a major failure !

Lexus LS400 had a quad cam V8 in the 90s, 4L 1UZFE engine which is built as tough as ****.

They had 190kw when first released.
Keep in mind that a LS400 was $120k when released, or about five brand new Falcons

I have all the Motor mags from 03, 04 & 05. The GT was the dyno king, even knocking off the Callaway powered GTS Monaro by a few killawasps in 03 & laying down an impressive 242 kw at the wheels in 05 i think. The journos at the time called it the "310 KW" GT. It ran 13.8 down the quarter. Its weight was its biggest downfall.

Yes the ESP had tons of character. Not the quickest ford, but one of the tuffet looking with one of the best interiors to ever grace a falcon.

My old beauty was a great car. A tyre fryer with tons of character.

Personally I think the Tickford cars will definitely appreciate more as they gain collector status. EB XR6s, EB XR8s, ED Sprints, EB GT, EL GT, EL XR8 185KW, 220KW AU XR8s, 250KW Pursuit XR8 Ute, T3s, etc etc etc.

These vehicles were the start of Ford's resurgent performance focus after the refrigerators of the 1980s (sorry XF fans), some have EXTREMELY limited build numbers and they were very good performance vehicles at the time.

The FPVs just weren't as exclusive.

I agree with Tickfords garnering monetary interest. There's a lot of history in them, just like the Falcons of old. The US dumping its "obsolete" parts on us, and then we turn them into something special. FPVs share this as well to an extent. The Boss 5.4 was a Frankenstein of a motor, but I'd take it over the 4.6 any day.

I am an XF fanboy, and despite them being the peak of Fords sales performance, I agree with them being rather "ordinary". But now that time has left them behind, I see them as a great opportunity to create something that Ford didn't. Without the guilty feelings of blemishing an icon.

The Tickford....fords.... have the advantage of being associated with a very well known and historic British tuning company (Tickford), in addition to having the last batch of Windsor V8s. This is even before you consider domestic considerations.

I think even unmodified XF and EA Falcons will appreciate with time as more are crushed/wrecked/modified. Sort of like how the 50s and 60s Holdens were dime a dozen at one point in the 70s and 80s, yet good examples now have some excellent returns. They certainly couldn't go any lower in value.

I agree. EAs have hit rock-bottom, XFs, well there are *some* dreamers out there wanting daft amounts for them.

Luckily, EAs have not been a source for extensive modification. So finding a stock one is easy in the sense. Not that many seem to be left.

Exactly. Scrap merchants are our friends in this regard, as the more they crush as the price of scrap goes up, the less the vehicles are around.

Ya see I don't get this school of thought, what are you "enthusiastic" about ? money or cars ?

GT's are meant to be driven, and by that I mean hard, not stored away in the hope of making a killing in xx amount of years.........where's the fun in that...?

I'm sure if money was the object I could find a better investment that will give me a bigger return than a car, and with much less maintenance ($$) involved....

Tickford cars were nice but it was also a bleak period for ford performance wise. The old Holden v8 had the measure of the windsors and then the ls1 made it a massacre.

The boss 5.4 cars (and i6t) restored parity in performance between ford and Holden. the current fg stepping clearly ahead (f6 and boss335). So collectibility wise there must be substance as well as limited numbers
