Corona is the best amber nectar from the list...
But it isnt Stella Artois. A big "sup" to my grandad's homebrew. Based on coopers - rumour has it that it is 98 octane :

Asahi is good if you like carbonated water and a hint of beer.
Isn't the stuff we get brewed at CUB now?

I'm having a dilema about what to get tonight.. I'm thinking coopers sparkling ale.. hmm. Southern comfort + vodka pre shots, 3 cans of southern to take and coopers.. Sounds alright I spose. |

Cascade premium and cascade premium light and Boags premium are tops. Anyone tried a blue tongue?? 4x would have to be the worst beer I've ever had.

Ok.
Australian beer generally sucks. Crown Lager appeals to people who are fooled by advertising. "Australia's Finest" Crown may be, if you like a drink which is laden with chemicals. I heard that when CUB make a vat, the top half is Crown while the bottom half is Fosters Lager. Crownies are easy to down, but they are sweet and have a poor finish. VB is different to Crown, except that it tastes poohouse. I went to the Geelong Football Club B+F at the Crown Palladium in 2006 and I asked for a beer, so I was given a beer with no head. My first impression of the drink with no head was, "I think that guy urinated in my glass." I took one sip, "Yep, he urinated in my glass." It was VB. Awful stuff. Carlton for me has no kick. TOo flat. Carlton Cold was awful...no flavour, over-manufactured. My brother is a fussy beer drinker and goes for the European stuff (which I will say is bloody good) and he got a bottle of Victoria Bitter Original Ale, and he said it was actually pretty good. He won't even touch VB though...like me, he agrees that they just stick bottles and wait for donkeys to wee. Personally, my most common "regular" beer atm is Heineken. Not overly quality laden, but better than Australian generally. For Australian, for a light I have enjoyed Cascade Light for a long time. For a full, Boag's Premium has proven itself to highly drinkable. I had a beer a couple of nights ago, "La Trappe Blond" which was a beer brewed by Trappist Monks. It was very nice. Had a really clean taste and the aftertaste was quite fruity. It's not easy to get in some places. It isn't at my local Dan Murphy's. If you want a clean, pure beer, Lowenbrau is a decent German beer. In Germany, you can't use crap for beer. You need to use pure products, so Lowenbrau is a good beer and a very good price. Hoegaarden is a good wheat beer too. Light and easy to drink with a nice taste. Before you pass away, try some of the European stuff. It canes the socks off Aussie beer. Oh, also Lion Nathan are now brewing Becks in Australia. My brother used to drink Becks here and there (when it was made overaseas) but bought the Australian brewed Becks and said although Lion-Nathan said they wouldn't change the recipe, it tastes worse than it used to. (it was ok before) I wouldn't be surprised if they changed anything. I don't think Australia brews great beer overall. |

Corona to me is the Crown Lager of overseas. It's been marketed well, but it's flat, tasteless and just garbage. The whole, "lemon in the bottle" thing is just marketing which people fall for. It's "cool" to drink Corona. People think it's quality because it's expensive, but it's junk.
Boag's Premium is a superior beer IMO. Corono are for people who have graduated from Crownies in the pursuit of quality, but only found fake prestige. Stella is pretty good too. |

But Corona is shiet, if ya need a slice of lime or lemon to taste good, then it shouldnt be drank at all, it taste crap with the slice and worse than VB with out them : And i cant understand why they cost so much, there worth 30 cents in Mexico!!!! Ill say it again, STELLA is the best, followed by Hoegaarden, Duvell then what ever Euro beers leave Aussie one's for dead :togo: |
