LOL, if you look at my pics and post in this thread you will see that it answers your questions.
Bf xr8/6T are 322mm front, 330 mm back, Ba are 300mm front, 303 mm rear.
You dont need anything, they bolt straight in.
If you run the BF fronts, it will be ok with the stock AU2 rears, still 10 times better braking than stock AU2

Not sure to tell you the truth, i think the bigger ones are only for XR8/XR6T, they are the territory brakes.
i think the normal falcons got the BA sized brakes.

guys does anyone know if vented rotors are available for the rear? i ask because i was searching the net for disc's and saw slotted and drilled disc's for the rear. i may be dumb but i didnt think you could slot and drill solid disc's

Yep, Genebaby has vented ones on his BA XR8 - I think they are the Terry ones though.

They came off an XR8 but they are the same as Terry. Same as what AU1XLS has on the back now too.

Standard BF's get the same brakes as BA. The Turbo and XR8 got bigger brakes from the Terry.

Yeh i've got RDA's on the back of mine. They were the same price as the solid disc.

see the au1 caliper on left of rotor as a comparison

They are huge. What time did you start? I'm jealous that you finished by 2pm, but I'm glad that lessons learnt by me may have helped you out! How did you attach the AU2 swaybar bracket?

Took my time over 2 days could do it in 1 long day like you did but im lazy
Used 12mm rivet nuts on the inside rails for the AU2 brackets

i thought ba and bf brakes across the range (Except FPV) were the same. COrrect me if im wrong, but theyre all 322mm. AU is 300mm.

Will have a chat to my local dealer and pull up some specs.

Standard BA and BF brakes are 298mm ventilated front and 303 solid rear. BF XR6T and XR8 only get Terry brakes, 322 ventilated front and 328 ventilated rear. AU2/3 is 287mm front from memory.

I'm getting an front brake upgrade done to the S1 Futura next Tuesday.

If I manage to source some BA callipers, would S2 brake lines work, or would I need the BA items?

S1 brake lines are definately too short are they not?

GK - yes, S1 lines too short. The screw in fitting for the BA lines is the same for AU2/3, just the way they are secured to the shocks differs. The AU 2/3 ones clip in to a clip thing on the shock shaft, whereas the BA ones go back to an E series style clip arrangement that bolts onto the back of the callipers, I think. Either way, a cable tie to the back of the calliper should keep the brake lines out of harms way. But you definitely cannot use the AU1 ones on the front. The back is a different story though, but I don't think you're replacing them..

Correct, just the fronts being done. I can almost feel the difference already!

Ok, I'm a little over the top, but you know what I mean don't you? Don't you? Do you? LOL!

BTW, cleaned up and painted the right side calliper last night and the drums on the new rda slotteds. The left side will be done by my mechanic buddy tomorrow I'd reckon.

We looked at the donor bearings on the uprights yesterday arvo, they won't need changing, so good news there!

Tuesday's the day, the mechanic (Dave = top bloke) has no other jobs that day, so he can take time and care getting my job done. The info you gave me regarding the swaybar mount bolts gave him a heads up too JC. Thanks.

Default BA/AU Brakes

I put BA brakes on the front of my AU1, Not sumthing id rush into again. weekend to do it (took me time) Brakes heaps betta Cost me about $600 bucks all up thats with green stuff pads, RDA slotted rotors, and braided brake lines.

Hello i have a series 2 tl50.

I am looking for BIGGER breaks in the back end.. What would you guys suggest as the best and fairly cheap option for the rear end?

I dont mind the make ie: TERRY, XR series AU BA BF etc..

I just want size

My read discs are kinda bent (long story) and looking to replace them asap..

But i also need direction.. if anyone could PM me or post here that would be good Cheers Guys Rick

BTW HOW MUCH THEY STING YOU FOR THE GREEN STUFF PADS?

I was looking @ the RED stuff ones..

Anyone know the differences?

You want BF XR8/Terry rears, they are both the same thing. FTG sell everything you need for $650 if they have some left.

I am very interested in tracking some down

I was also reading that maybe worth doing the master cyl to a BA / BF one?

Does anyone know the difference at all? keeping in mind mine is a AU s 2

From memory the greenstuff pads were the dearest part of the AU1 to BA Conversion, think they were around $220-$230. the braided brake lines were over nighted for $200, the RDA slotted rotors were bout $180 a pair. the rest i got for pretty much nothing from my local wrecker. lower control arms,hub uprights, sway bar mount brackets. i gave all my old stuff to them, plus i got a new whiteline swaybar. mite do a BF XR rotor swap to the front yet. Me AU is up for sale tho

Rear brakes do about 20% of the work of the fronts, so I don't think you'll notice much difference by upgrading them. Best bet is just to chuck a set of slotteds on the rear (any brand), however, if you really want to upgrade, then all you need is the discs and calliper, and it should all swap straight over. Same for the front on an AU2, actually.

Did you get these from Wickham Spares? AFAIK they ask about $450 for the full set of hardware, incl swaybar, rotors and calipers. If they're cheaper anywhere else around Newie I'll go elsewhere for mine.

Also, do the changeover suspension parts have to be from an AU2/3 or will BA/BF parts bolt in as well?

Yeah Sandy at wickham spares hooked me up. AU1 thru BF suspension parts are pretty much the same, i think. they looked the same anyway. my cuz is running the same suspension in the front of his BA as i have in my AU. do u have AU1?

Yeah I have an AU1 Forte wagon which I've had since new. It looks a bit dog-eared with 310,000k's up but it's easily been as reliable as any Jap car I owned before it. I like it so much that when we sold the wife's Camry after 13 years we went and got an ex-govt AU3 Futura wagon from the auctions for her runabout. I found out about the different brakes when I had to replace my pads & checked hers as well. Pretty easy to spot the difference...

Sandy is tops. I've bought a few bits & pieces there over the years (mother-in-law had an Escort) and she's always steered me right. Even helped me out with a referral to an engine computer wiz in Hamilton when I had ECU probs.
