im an "Apple fanboi" because everything they make is easy to use and works well.
my refurbished Macbook has lasted me over 3 years, and i have never had to reformat. i even upgraded the HDD from a 120gb to a 320gb, just by copying the whole drive on the the new drive then plugged it in. it fired up and worked as if nothing had changed, except i had 200gb free. do that with a PC! only issue with it is the dvd drive doesnt work, npt that i ever use it though.
i have an original iPod Shuffle that works perfectly, except that the headphone jack is a bit worn out.
my 4th Gen 20gb iPod still works flawlessly, as does my 80gb classic. then i have the 2gb shuffle and an iPhone 4.
Why can we not compare things 7 years apart? In simple terms, the car analogy is silly. Development of motor vehicles moves nowhere near as quickly as IT does. The simple fact is apples products have never been market leaders in speed or features. Oh and do you think 1.2ghz from 2003 is slower than 1ghz from 2010?

In reference to your Macbook, my 5 year old PC that is unformatted, and unchanged since day one, still works as good as day one. Investing in a decent virus software keeps things in good order. It would also still keep pace with many apple computers with its' old school 3ghz single core processor, 2gig RAM, 512meg vid card, and 200gig HDD. All bought for the princely sum of $1800 in 2006. The equivelent Mac at the time was almost $5k

I bought a mac book about 5 years ago. It cost nowhere near $5K. Pretty sure it was under $2K. It wasn't much more than wintel laptops. It didn't have a 200GB drive but the other specs were the same.

Apple is pretty famous for their design and innovation. If you cannot understand what Jobs and Apple have done for the IT and Telecommunications industry then nothing I say will make a difference. Their machines are beautiful, they feel nice to use. They perform very well. I am more than happy to own them and I have very high standards.

I won't get into a discussion about how well your 5 year old untouched machine runs. If you're happy with Wintel all power to you. If you like to develop on Android, great.

I am not an android user, and I am not biased towards windows. I just know from one stage in my life when I was a pretty serious online gamer that apple products didn't cut it. The most annoying thing was the single mouse button, like I'm too stupid to operate two.

Yes but when compared to other modern tablet computers the iPad is also left behind. It was just an interesting comparison because people think apple invented the smart phone, apple invented the tablet computer, apple invented mp3 players, apple invented touch screens. When you look at the early iterations of the iPhone, and the first iPad they are extremely limited.

If somethinks any of that then their an idiot! And deserve any criticism.

OT My first mp3 player was a 128mb creative, then a huge 5gb iriver (which I got because I didnt want an iPod) and now my 3GS.

Apples were never sold as a gaming platform. That being said my MBP runs games OK if I get that urge.

The mighty mouse was released in 2005 and was a 4 button mouse. The might mouse also had a track ball instead of a wheel that would allow you to scroll up and down and left and right. You could also plug in any USB mouse and use that. On the laptops you could use multi "buttons" too on the track pad. The criticism would have be valid in 2004, not since.

Back in 2007 PC World did a test of Windows Vista to find the best (fastest) machine to run Vista. Guess what won?? that's right a MPB was the best Windows machine on the market.

Trust me, it doesn't work on Gingerbread version. I have a text file at home that details what I have to do, just don't trust myself to do it unless I know of someone who has on that phone.

Umm well..... anyway got up this morning to down load the ios 5 software into my itunes and i4 and while it did take some time, it seems to be very worth it so. If the i4 s ends up anything like my i4 is now then for apple users at least, it is a very sizable step forward that I have found after playing with my iphone 4 this morning so far.

Simple things like accessing the camera immediately even though your iphone is locked (and remains locked) is fantastic. You never know when you need a camera quickly before the moment has passed. I have had this happen to me plenty of times so far in the past. Also now the volume + button is also now a trigger button for the shutter as well. This is also cool because when I first got mine, I tried this function and thought that it is in the right place for a button, so I guess others must have thought the same!

The only bug I can see so far at the moment is that I can not edit my contacts list thought the contacts folder for some reason however I still can if I find it in my resents though. I had to respell one of my contacts this morning (fat fingers) and the only way I could do it was to call them and then quickly hang up (a function I am used to with the iphone anyway ) so that I could access them through resents only. I think that they will need to fix this pretty quickly though.

I think that people who get the new formatted i4s will love it well after the initial let down of apple not releasing the i5 wanes. This is a substantial upgrade if you are already using an i4 now imho, and kudos to apple for letting us all in on it.
