We just dropped prices on all our 3G S Iphones, I haven't heard anything official but i'm expecting that we'll start selling the 4G within the next 2-3 weeks.

Is that the outright price yeah? I was going to wait to get a 4 (On contract) but decided to get the 3GS instead, im not a fan of the 'first' of something

Well I have had my 3GS for a week. Got it on a $49plan with vodafone and get $450 worth of calls plus 500mb data. I must say that the new update to the phone is great (I had a touch for a few years). Love being able to group apps and have multitasking. My mrs really wants an Iphone also so when the 4 comes out I will probably get that and give her the current contract. Mate of mine works in an apple store and says the 4 Iphone 4 is awesome, he has seen one they have for demo and 2 of his mates imported theirs from the U.S.

Sorry I haven't got back to you sooner, our outright prices haven't changed($999 16GB, $1299 32GB) the only change is iphones are now available full subsidised $0 up front on the $49+ cap(16GB) and $79+ cap(32GB).

Was doing my training tonight on the iphone 4G, seems to better the 3GS in ever aspect of battery life by an hour except standby time where both are equal.
Not sure if i'm supposed to say this but we will definetly be selling the iphone 4G from the 28th of this month.

I went out and bought an 8GB ipod touch tonight so I can have a play with the iOS4 lol.

I know this isn't the biggest selling point but I thought ild just let everyone know video calling is only available via wifi on the Iphone 4 and will only be available iphone4 to iphone4 at release.
Its called facetalk or something similar(mindblank atm.)

In our training they said how advanced the technology is and that they made other video calling methods unavailable so companies will adopt the new tech. lol

The full features of iso4 do not work on the touch. The only thing that seems to work is grouping programs together. Other than that I could not see any difference between iso4 and the previous version. Iso4 on my iphone is great but.

I can tell a difference on my touch. There is airplane mode now or at least I don’t think it had that before.

Spell check and some other related stuff but most importantly it’s just about stuffed my iPod. Never gave an ounce of trouble before. Battery use has gone up, locks up, freezes some apps no longer work (app issue with software) and now has issues multi tasking, i.e. using safari while listening to music is a love/ hate relationship.

What I liked about Apple before, in that the device just worked, has well and truly gone out the door. Time again I would not upgrade, especially so now that my favourite Cricket game won’t work properly.

Yeah I knew that when buying but honestly I just wanted to have something to play with lol.

IOS4 is definitely not the best move for anyone with an iPhone 3G. Slows it down and makes it a bit of a dog. Sure, it's fine for 3GS and upcoming 4, but it's put the handbrake on the 3G. After 3 hard reboots by holding down the on-off & home button it picks up a little, but not as snappy as 3.1.3. More memory intensive or something?
On the topic of the iPhone 4, I'm sure it'll be fine, even with the reported antenna issue. At least Optus people will have an iPhone that'll run on their 3G frequency now outside of cities/major centres (900Mhz) unlike the 3G/3GS.

I find safari freezes slightly (3GS) when switching pages with os4, especially if you switch a page whilst the link is loading. Apart from that it's seamless.

i find it funny apple have the antenna problem with the iphone 4 and all of a sudden they start manufacturing their own brand of "bumpers" for $35.00 each which they say "fixes the problem"...

More like they found the problem when production already started and devices were shipping but obviously would cost too much to re-manufacture the iphone 4 to fix the issue in an obviously flawed design.

"If the signal is strong in the area, then you won't lose the call," Gikas said. Consumer Reports is published by the nonprofit Consumers Union, based in Yonkers, New York.

Natalie Kerris, a spokeswoman for Apple, did not return phone and email messages seeking comment.

Mark Siegel, a spokesman for AT&T in Dallas, had no comment.

More phones tested

Consumer Reports also tested other phones, including Apple's older iPhone 3GS, and the Palm Pre, and found they did not suffer from the same problems as the iPhone 4, Gikas said.

Gikas suggested that users who experience the problem apply duct tape, which does not conduct electricity, to the gap in order to reduce the chance of causing signal interference.

Apple has faced criticism since the phone went on sale June 24, with consumers complaining about losses of signal strength when holding the phone along its left-side black stripe.

As a massive iPhone fan and the current owner of a 3GS, even I can lol at the massive blunder by Apple (I'm still amazed people are saying there is no issue).

Only have 6 months left on my contract and I'm sure the issue will be sorted by then! Wooo!

I think they retail for $49 from apple.
That's the only fix i've herd about so far but no doubt they'll be working on other fixes though.

Despite selling 1.7 million iPhone 4 units in the first three days after its US launch, Apple has taken a beating over the past few weeks over antenna problems that cause calls to drop out when the phone is held in a certain way.

Apple's share price has taken a hit and many are calling for a recall after tests against similar devices confirmed that the problem was a significant "design flaw".

At the Friday event, which for Australians will occur at 3am on Saturday, Apple is expected to offer either replacement phones or free "bumpers" that wrap around the device and prevent the antenna problems from occurring.

Anthony Agius, founder of the MacTalk website, said the move to hold a snap press conference was "something I've never seen Apple do in the decade I've been watching them".

Apple often refuses to acknowledge failings in its products and the iPhone 4 is no exception. Its chief executive, Steve Jobs, initially said iPhone 4 owners who were experiencing problems were simply holding the phone wrongly.

Apple later blamed the issue on a software bug, saying it was "stunned to find that the formula we use to calculate how many bars of signal strength to display is totally wrong".

But tech pundits weren't buying that explanation and independent testing by Consumer Reports revealed that the reception problems were the result of a hardware design flaw. It said it wouldn't recommend the device until the signal problem was fixed.

Analysts say Apple has created a public relations headache for itself by appearing to dismiss or ignore the problem, allowing a minor issue to be turned into headline news. The company has been sued by several consumers over the matter.

Most analysts believe a full recall is unlikely but Ireland's biggest bookmaker, Paddy Power, which has been taking bets on whether Apple would issue a recall, said "if the current betting trends are to be believed, it now seems certain that a recall is in the cards".

Bernstein Research analyst Toni Sacconaghi issued a report this week saying that, while a full product recall would be unlikely, if it went ahead it would end up costing Apple a whopping $US1.5 billion.

"Apple's image - and potentially iPhone sales - could be compromised if Apple does not explicitly - and constructively - address the issue of what it believes is wrong with the phone and how it will address it," Sacconaghi said in the statement.

Apple appears to be already quietly offering replacement phones to some customers who have complained, Gizmodo reported. Readers of the popular blog have said the replacement units appear to fix the problem.

The iPhone 4 is expected to be launched in Australia within the next two weeks. It is not clear if Friday's announcement will delay the release.
