Whatever Falcon does, it needs to back up the rest of the styling with the new front. Adopting the Tezza front headlight treatment might be the obvious step. Taking the Tezza grille treatment for FG Mk2 IMO was a mistake - Neither Taurus, Fudeo or Evos have that, its the reverse for them. Having a larger lower grille seems to work much better for the SUV's than the passenger cars. Territory still has a small grille slot underneath the main one anyway.

Grille and headlights look nearly identical to it. So maybe Ford Australia provided that to the Yanks as one of the styling proposals and maybe they adopted it. Every design studio was asked to present a Mustang styling concept to give them plenty of options to choose from. |

Speaking in terms of the Mustang, I think that Evos concept is going to be closer to the mark than people realise.

And I agree with them, that does nothing for me either. Certainly doesn't say mustang or falcon for that matter, I guess I'm in the minority

I would not be upset it that look was incorporated. Very aggressive, and bold, and upmarket. No one would pick on the Falcon with a look like that.

Just read that GoAuto article. The way Falcon sales are going this year, I think Ford could use those mechanical upgrades now.
Anyone know if the six-speed ZF automatic transmission is being replaced? Or just upgraded? |

Sounds like a new gearbox altogether. I have no doubt the Falcon will also shed a little weight.

Front end (as revealed) looks a bit like a '64 thunderbird, unlikely to be a retro theme though. The Evos also has this shape around the headlights.

And would anyone care to predict whether the utes will recieve this upgrade in 2014? I heard a while ago that all engineering and development was completely stopped on the utes a year or so back. |

The best way to kill sales of todays model is to release details of the model in 2 years time..

"Model years" often differ from calendar years, so it's difficult to say whether the 2014 Falcon will go on sale in late 2013 or not. |

A couple things.
Lets hope they get rid of the awfull cheap looking black plastic that is so prominent on the current base & XR models. This stuff looks like it's made from the same stuff as the cheap black plastic poly tubing that you buy at Bunnings and looks so low rent. Also, lets hope they put some technology into these care that can at least keep pace with other makes. Things like: Active Cruise Control Blind spot monitoring Front Colision warning system Heated / ventilated seats Heated Steering Wheel Decent leather for the premium models Electric Tailgate (for the Territory) People generally like the tech, comfort and diver aids that are becoming so readily available in other makes. Joe public generally aren't brand loyal anymore, so these things need to be available within the range just to compete. Hopefully Ford Aus will get this part of the package equation right. Together with appealing sheet metal, improved driving dynamics (have generally been quite good compared to our Red friends and with other makes) and tech that goes way past an 8" color screen, coupled with sustained marketing and image improvement, they could just be onto a winner.
