1971 Triumph 2000 auto sedan. White with red leathercloth trim. Even had the orginal bill of sale and owners manual. My uncle saw the original purchase price and commented that he sold new GTs for less then what this car cost new. Also admitted to selling a GTHO for less as well. As a matter of interest, I paid $500 for it in average, very, condition in 1993.

FC Holden sedan in 1975 - had a lot of fun times in that car. Sold it and bought mum's XR Fairmont when I joined the RAAF in '76.

85 Ford Laser S 5 speed with twin carbies

The fact that it was red made it go faster than the twin carbs I think...

My first car which i bought 10 years ago was a 1997 EL XR8 sedan, 5 speed manual dynamic white in colour with air (which was optional back then) 16" wheels, Body kit and the whale tail spoiler. Loved that car. Being a salesperson at a Ford Dealer, i bought it as a Executive car for $36000 with 9800ks on the clock and sold it a year and a half later for $32000 with 60000ks on the clock. Now that was great resale value

52 standard 10 in 1966. When i see one today i look hard at the owner to see if i can pick what sort of insanity possesses them.

I had a Twin Carb Meteor that would perform but you had to keep it in tune to get anything over the standard single-carb. The high compression (10:1) could be a hassle. I heard all sorts of odd suggestiosn from Ford to stop the pinging: double head gasket, drill out the jets.... In the end a distributor regraph fixed that.

Belive it or not if thats manual it would kill most 6`s. My brother had one and it gave me a saw neck all the time it was that quick. Maybe it was a freak. Could leave commodores and falcons sitting still

1971 XY Fairmont, Nugget Gold, 250 Column Auto. Got it in '89 when I was 17, but sold it only a couple of years later after getting the V8 bug! Pity, coz in '04 I got another one, but this time with the optional 351 fitted. Yay!

1971 HQ Premier but with 3 on the tree. 202 motor, dark purple, white interior.
The gears were pain at times - if you were too slow to change from 1st to 2nd, the gear shifter would get stuck and the only way to dislodge it was to pull over, lift the bonnet and yank the hell out of the linkages!

1983 Camira Wagon, back in 1992. Being a manual, it got a fair thrashing, got rid of it after a couple of years for a 280zx.

Geez , Glad I wasn't the only one who had this problem (mine was an HQ PanelVan), it picks up 2nd & reverse at the same time & used to come to an abrupt halt . Very embarrassing in Sydney CBD in Peak-Hour . Always had a BBS (Bloody Big Screwdriver) with me to fix the problem .

All it is , is a $2 bush in the bottom of the steering column , but $100 to get the job done so I put up with it , the whole car was only worth $400 at the time.

It's still over 7 months until I can apply for my Learners permit, but at this stage, it looks like my first car will be an ED Shitter, or (hopefully) a newer (EF+) coon. With gas. I hope. Because the ED is not roadworthy, but the mechanic likes my mum for some reason, so he just passes it.
